This time around we will be expecting the early arrival of the Year of Dragon. After doing the spring cleaning and home refurbishment, it's time to treat yourself and family a quality reunion dinner at this dining outlet in a bewitching resort along with a tranquil environment.

The location of the evening is Cheng Ho Court, a completely Halal Chinese restaurant which not only serves Cantonese cuisine but also savouring dishes of Dim Sum. In celebration to usher the Chinese New Year, Cheng Ho Court offers a specifically prepared range of Chinese New Year Set Menu (五福臨门宴) starting from RM 788++ per table.

Behind this door, lies a hidden gem of the restaurant- Chef Chin Hock Seng, the mastermind chef. With more than 27 years of culinary experience, he creates the modern gastronomic cuisine with the combination of tradition and creativity. Coupled with the fresh organic ingredients, each dishes here definitely fulfill the needs of 'wellness' for the patrons.

The RM788++ meal for 10 pax includes:
Salmon Lou Sang
Braised Assorted Dried Seafood Soup with Crabmeat
Deep Fried Chicken with Plum Sauce
Deep Fried Red Snapper Fish with Vinegar Sauce
Baked Tiger Prawn with Special Chef Sauce
Stir Fried Vegetables with Almond Flakes
Claypot Rice with Preserved Meat
Chilled Sea Coconut with Longan and Lemon
Sweet Fancy Duets

Out of 9 dishes, I love 8 of them!
The overall taste of the food is acceptable with an oriental ambiance. While the service of the restaurant is good as dishes are served plate by plate to the diners. With its Halal certificate, it is suitable for all who love to try Chinese cuisine.

Senjyu Japanese Cuisine Smile Jun 08, 2012

Senjyu, under the same mother company with Sakae Sushi is a Japanese restaurant of finer quality and better ambiance. The interior is of low-light, very suitable for special occasions and celebrations.

My plate of tempura prawns drizzled in Japanese potatoes curry is awesome! I fall in love with the curry almost immediately because it is so thick and flavourful. The curry is very mild in spiciness but sweet. The tempura prawns are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, that's why it is my all-time favourite.

Cookies at The Loaf Smile Jul 31, 2012

Another round at The Loaf enables me to try their homemade cookies, instead of the usual breads. This pastry shop sells many varieties, and their cookies are packed in smaller packets with beautiful labels. Suitable as a gift, or sharing with friends and family.

Marble Cookies @ from RM7.80 to RM8.80 each pack

From White Sesame, Cocoa, Coconut to Black Sesame, the cookies serve best as a snack for the family with just the right amount of sweetness! Out of so many flavours, my favourite is the Black Sesame because the cookie is light, and less sweet as compared to others. Every bite of the petite cookies is filled with strong sesame aroma which is great as a snack.

The Loaf Choco Kiki  Smile Jul 31, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

When passing by The Loaf Bakery shop, I have always smelt nice aroma of pastry and breads from this shop. It is very crowded during evenings. How can I resist The Loaf's famous pastry, the Choco Kiki croissant?

The Loaf ORIGINALS CHOCO Kiki™ @ RM3.60

With the Freshness Concept of 'à la minute' baking, I get to experience it straight from the oven. The croissants come in many flavours: Orange, Strawberry, Mocha, Peppermint and White Chocolate. It is available at all outlets with Great Offer: Buy 5 flavored CHOCHO Kiki and get 1 FREE (Original).

I tried the one with white chocolate, supposedly to be my dessert during the day. The filling is so thick that I can pass it off as breakfast and not dessert. The white chocolate is melting soft, very gooey and goes well with the flaky croissant with layers and layers of thin puffy skin. Surprisingly, the rich chocolate is not too sweet for me, and I would love to try other flavours soon. Lovely!

At Istana Hotel, I'm stunned with the buffet menu. I have to admit that it has the widest spread of ramadhan buffet by far, and it is full of my favourite seafood, whether in malay or western cooking style. The ambiance is very grand, but nevertheless it gives a comfortable feel because of many homey dishes.

Sup Ekor Lembu

One of the favourite of mine would be the oxtail soup, simply rich with hints of sourish assam flavour. Slow-cooked for several hours, the broth is an enjoyable dish for the health goodness. The soup is neither too salty nor bland for me, and I love matching it with some fluffy nasi bukhari to enhance the taste. Overall, the buffet is quite hearty for me, satisfying my palate.
