Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum Smile Aug 11, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim sum | Porridge | Private Party

Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum is probably the most popular dim sum shop in town, because of its affordable price and large portion of food. The varieties are not very extensive but the few popular ones are good enough to satisfy me.

They have the softest char siew bun that I have ever had. I love the very delicate texture, and the bun is quite huge compared to other dim sum shop. The pork taste is very rich, and the sweet thick sauce is very deep in flavour. The only downside here is the crowd, because I have to queue up during weekend to secure a seat.

Ploy @ Damansara Heights Smile Aug 11, 2012

Tucked within Damansara Heights, Ploy is a very nice restaurant with calm ambiance and very good service from the waiters. The menu here focuses on very delectable food in both western and asian styles.

I have a plate of skin salmon and the presentation is excellent. However, the portion is quite small for the price I pay. But the fish is very fresh, with flaky texture accompanied by sweet salty sauce drizzled on it. Delicious!

Dragon Gate Dim Sum Smile Aug 11, 2012

Located very near to Sunway Giza, this place is full of eateries. But Dragon Gate Dim Sum appears to be one of the leading dim sum house there. I find the varieties here are very extensive, using their authentic Hong Kong style in cooking dim sum.

The most special thing I have ever encountered in a dim sum shop is this:

The Spinach Chee Cheong Fun with Shrimp @ RM4.50

This is very unique and I love the very smooth skin with aroma from vegetables. It is slightly sweet, with lightly salty soy sauce. Their belacan for the chee cheong fun is quite sweet though I expected it to be a little more spicy for my liking. Reasonably priced and the prawns are very fresh!

Castell Restaurant Smile Aug 10, 2012

Castell Restaurant is quite popular as one of the best steakhouse in town. The thing that impresses me is their detailed presentation of the food, which tempts me to order more.

For my piece of Prime Fillet NZ, I am really satisfied because of thick gooey sauce which is sweet salty and best matched with such tender meat. The corn balances up the meal with lightly salty flavour. I think I pay for something that worth my money.

Botanical  Smile Aug 10, 2012

Botanical is a cafe at Bangsar Village 2 with white furniture and bright surrounding, which reminds me of Gardens or Full House. But here they promote vegetarian diet, but the menu is so extensive and not boring at all.

I order a huge Mushroom pie which comes with raw vegetables. The pie has a very flaky croissant-like layers which are served hot. And the melted mushroom chunks and gravy in it are very flavoursome, yet not too salty. It serves as a great brunch for me!
