Bad experience Cry Jul 03, 2012

It's been a long long time since I last had desserts after meals.

Decided to pay a visit to My Honeymoon because I was craving for glutinous rice balls.

Well, the shop looked quiet because most people have gone to Snowflake.

Anyways, bf ordered the sesame cream + soy bean curd (hot). The sesame cream isn't thick enough as of those sold by vendors in van but is sweet enough not to have any more sugar syrup added into the dessert. Bean curd is good as it is smooth.

As I mentioned, I was craving for glutinous rice balls so naturally, I ordered the Six Happiness Sweet Ball. There are 6 different types of flavours each: sesame, peanut, custard, chocolate, green tea and taro.

1. Peanut
2. Custard
3. Taro
4. Green Tea
5. Sesame
6. Chocolate.

It turns out that the sesame glutinous rice ball is the best among all. The filling in taro and green tea has turned sourish and these balls are definitely spoilt but unfortunately I've taken a small bite each. I did complain to the staff but no further actions are taken sad Aside from this, the ginger soup is hot and sweet enough to be eaten with the glutinous rice balls.

Wantan Mee OK Jul 03, 2012   (Related Review)

On days where I don't feel like splurging on expensive meals, hawker stall food is my top choice.

This is the regular-sized wantan mee. Priced at RM5 and given the ingredients included in the meal, I would say it's a pretty good deal. Minced pork, char siew slices, fried wantan, soup wantan and vegetables can be found.

The wantan noodles are just so so, though the black sauce of the noodle could be sweeter. Minced pork and char siew slices are flavourful enough but the fillings in the wantan are not. They are bland in taste so a dip in soy sauce is necessary for most people.

Anyhow, this serving of wantan noodle is quite generous compared to other places where they serve smaller portion with a higher price.

Fish & Chips OK Jul 02, 2012

This Spanish restaurant is quite hidden IMO. If you're coming from LDP, turn left into the junction heading to Damansara Perdana, then turn left again at the first traffic light and the building will be on your left. Not sure if there is a different entrance into this area called Neo Damansara though.

First impression: cosy, quiet environment and could be a really nice place to have afternoon tea. Currently, La Gomera is having a lunch promotion at RM10.00 only (RM11.00 inclusive of tax). By paying RM10, you get to choose a type of soup or salad as your starter, one main course and one drink (tea/coffee/iced lemon tea/orange cordial).

Fish & Chips. Quite small portion, and the fish fillets looked rather big pieces due to the thick flour coating them. Fries are ok, nothing to shout about. I guess this dish is not worth ordering, opt for pasta or chicken is better.

Sweet Corn Smoothie Smile Jul 02, 2012

I like sweet corn and soya bean. Thus, I was delighted when I learnt about this creation from Buddy Soy Smoothies which is called the Sweet Corn Smoothie. I was observing how the worker at the stall prepared my drink; he put ice cubes + sweet corns + some white powder and juice into the blender and worked his magic. I’ve had no idea what the juice (definitely not soya milk) and the powder are, but I suppose they provide the soya milk flavour to the smoothie.

The smoothie is smooth and definitely sweet. As you can see, sweet corns are also added in the final preparation to give off an extra taste and texture to the smoothie. Customers can also add on brown or white sugar according to their preferences but the default taste is already perfect to me. It’s a very cooling and yummy smoothie suitable on a hot afternoon.

Okinawa Pepper Salt Smile Jul 02, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops

I stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant when my friend was driving me around The Strand area deciding where to have our late dinner. It was pretty late at night already and we didn’t want to waste more time looking for the restaurant so we settled down at Karaage Japan.

Not only that this restaurant is clean, it also has a relaxing atmosphere infused with a touch of Japanese culture. It seems that set lunch is also available here at a very reasonable price of RM9.90.

The karaage here is categorized into chicken, fish and seafood. For chicken and fish, there are different flavours. For chicken, there is Hokaido Zangi, Tokyo Teriyaki Chicken, Nagoya Tebasaki,Osaka Negi Sauce, Miyazaki Chicken Nanban and others. As for fish, there is Thai Chili, Tokyo Teriyaki Sauce, Oita Chili, Lemon Butter, Miyazaki Tartar etc. You can either have karaage only or with rice, with your options of how many grams you want your karaage to be (200g, 250g & 300g).

This is the Chicken Okinawa Pepper Salt with rice (RM13.50 for 200g). Karaage is deep fried perfectly and it’s not too oily. I was in love with this dish - boneless chicken pieces sprinkled with pepper and salt. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside with appropriate flavouring! Too much of fried stuff isn’t good for the body so I ordered a cup of hot honey lemon to go with my meal. Satisfying dinner indeed! smile
