Lovely entrance of Donald & Lily's Nyonya Food Restaurant

In 2010 trip to Melaka with my friends, Donal & Lily's Nyonya Food Restaurant is one of our stop for Nyonya food. We ordered their Nyonya Laksa and Mee Siam to try.

Nyonya Laksa (RM 3.50)
I quite like the Nyonya Laksa because it is not spicy and and the soup is creamy as it was cooked with lots of santan (coconut milk). Among the ingredients given were kerang, tauge, tau pok and some sliced egg.

Mee Siam (RM 3.50)
This is my first time having the wet version of Mee Siam. Usually in KL, I always have the dry version. The mee siam itself is already sourish and spicy but after squeezing the lime juice onto the Mee Siam, the dish became more appetizing. The Mee Siam comes with sliced omelette, sliced fish cakes, fried shallots and julienned cucumber.

These pictures hung on the wall gives a homey feeling to the restaurant.

Donald & Lily’s Nyonya Food is a small nice outlet situated at the back of Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock which is within walking distance from the Melaka Town Centre. As can be seen from the above picture, the restaurant is decorated with many beautiful decorations which I liked it very much. Nyonya Laksa, Ayam Pongteh, Curry Asam Fish and Taukua Rojak are some of the popular Nyonya food available in Donald and Lily's.

While I was there with my friends, we tried their Ayam Pongteh as our lunch. Ayam Pongteh is actually a chicken dish braised with potato, soya sauce and gula Melaka.

Ayam Pongteh (RM 6.50)
The chicken meat was braised until tenderly without being too soft. I loved the slight sweet gravy accompanying the flavorful chicken. I also like to eat the huge cubes of potatoes because they are soaked with the lovely gravy. But please eat the chicken together with rice because they are a bit salty when eaten on its own.

Plain rice with some cabbage to eat with Ayam Pongteh
I ordered an extra plate of rice to eat because the gravy was good to eat with just plain rice...yummy yummy......
