Tiramisu

Tiramisu

This dessert shop really does have a very suitable name. The creations here really makes one feel like you have a taste of a slice of heaven. The list is endlist on their wonderful cakes like durian cheesecake and death by chocolate to name a few.

I find the Tiramisu looks so inviting so deceded to try it. The dessert is in a glass and the toppiing is a generous amount of cocoa powder. It tasted good, as expected, the texture was really creamy and light at the same time. I did not find this dessert very dense as some other so it was really wonderful. It was a bit sweet but worth trying.

Caramel Macchiato OK Jul 30, 2012   (Related Review)

Having tried their Black Chocolate flavored mochi, the next flavour that interests me is the Caramel Macchiato as I am a coffee lover too. The filling tends to be a bit too sweet for my taste partly due to the caramel. I could taste the macchiato flavour which was quite aromatic. The cream as in the other mochi I tried was fresh and has good taste. I find the mochi skin really soft and has chewy texture.

Compared to the other flavour I would say this is just too sweet for me. Will come back again to try flavours like yam, mango yogurt and green tea. The price is about RM3.50 to RM4.00 each and each mochi is about the size of other mochis I tried. But compared to those mooncake versions, this is definitely a class above them.

Lychee Pudding OK Jul 30, 2012   (Related Review)

One of the items in the buffet selections was the Lychee Pudding. It was prepared in small shot glasses with the pudding filling half the glass. A lychee fruit piece and sprig of leaf was the garnish. The lychee was the only giveaway that it is a lychee pudding as the color of the pudding was light mauve. It looks quite nice and taste smooth. It was not too sweet and quite refreshing. But I always preferred puddings which are creamier in texture. The one served here tastes like jelly so it will be good for some who preferred those textures.

Pumpkin Custard and Fried Shishamo

Pumpkin Custard and Fried Shishamo

I tried the Shogun Japanese Buffet a few times and I have to say that it was just average. The buffet do have some dishes worth a mention but on the whole, it was a bit not authentic as they serve not only Japanese dishes but those from chinese cuisine as well.

One of the desserts, the Pumpkin Custard sounds really interesting and I have to say taste-wise, it was a letdown. The custard was a pale yellow color making it look not too appetizing. It tastes bland with no trace of sweetness but saved by the pumpkin flesh surrounding it. They tried to make it look interesting by making it look like a half boiled egg served on a spoon.

The Fried Shishamo on the other hand is good. Fish roe were one of my favourite food and I guess no matter how it is cooked, it will retain some of the taste. Here it is fried to quite a dry state making the skin of the fish quite crunchy. It could be a bit better if they didn't overfry it. Luckily the roe still taste alright.

Dry Pork Noodle OK Jul 30, 2012   (Related Review)

Dry Pork Noodle

Dry Pork Noodle

If you are ever in the neighbourhood near Taman OUG, be sure to drop by this coffee shop. There are quite a number of stalls deserving mention for good local favourites like curry laksa, pork noodle and coffee.

Having tried the pork noodle soup, my friend let me try her dry pork noodle, the dry version of the same dish. You get the same awesome soup base and the minced meat in it while the noodle is served with a dry sauce of black soya, sesame oil and seasoning. The noodle is garnished with pieces of pork. I still prefer the soup version as I find the sauce in the dry one a bit too salty for my taste. The noodle is of course the same texture which is moist and silky. So it will be to individual taste on which version they prefer.
