When you step into the restaurant compound, you are immediately transported into a tranquil setting with a balinese feel. I love their decor and was really excited to try their food. To start off, I ordered the Raspberry Bandung with Roses Flavour drink. Usually I am not keen for iced drinks but this time I am glad I tried it. The bandung syrup has a sweetness that was not overpowering like some bandung mixes. I think they struck a balance with the milk and syrup. It has a nice aroma from the rose flavour. It was more like the flowery version of a teh tarik with the smooth milky texture and a layer of syrup at the bottom. There was just enough ice to chill the drink. A good choice although it cost RM8.

I really like the Jujube Tea at B Station, a korean restaurant. This is actually a kind of date with a slightly earthy and sweet taste that was so natural. The juice is a bit like tangerine taste but not as strong and there are bits of the pulp in the drink. There were bits of pine nuts added for extra taste. The pine nuts with its special flavour really made the tea taste unique. Everything about this restaurant really calms the mind. I will definitely return although the food is just normal.

Thai Fried Rice with Egg Smile Aug 16, 2012

Fried Rice

Fried Rice

Cosy Corner is a restaurant serving local and western food. I like to order their Thai Fried Rice with Egg because it tastes really nice. The rice is mildly hot from chili padi and there is a sourish sweet taste from the use of tamarind and lime. This really perks up my tastebud and never fails to impress me. My colleague who had the same dish commented that it was a bit too oily but I find it just nice giving the rice more definition and binds the ingredients together. The addition of a fried egg gave it the extra flavour and garnishing of sliced lettuce and red chili added to the presentation. Cost RM8.90 before tax which is quite reasonable.

Traditional Rice Dumpling Smile Aug 15, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

Every year we have the rice dumpling festival and I will go wild over those traditional triangular shaped rice packed piece of invention. Nowadays, it is available at any time of the year so I could cure my craving anytime. This restaurant is one the places to get them, whether dining in or take away, they also have lots of other chinese dishes available for dining.

Their range of rice dumplings are also very wide, from the cantonese dumpling (traditional ones), nyonya, hakka pillow, abalone, golden even one that is healthy (brown rice). I was keen to have the traditional cantonese one which has chestnut, fatty pork slice, mushroom and salted egg in it. There was still a lingering aroma from the lotus leaves they used to wrap the dumpling. I like how the rice was not too salty and is super dense and steamed just enough that it doesn't break the rice. I can still taste the natural sweetness from the glutinous rice. The ingredients each did its part to give its unique flavour to the dumpling, salty from the egg, sweet savoury from the mushroom. The pork is not as fat as in some traditional dumplings but I guess the trend is towards healthier food. Each dumpling cost RM6, slightly more pricey than others.

Grilled Unagi in Teriyaki Sauce Smile Aug 15, 2012

This is a popular restaurant and usually the queue for a table is about 15 minutes or more on weekends. But people do not mind because the Japanese food here is good and the price is reasonable. Of the many I have tried, I would rate very highly for their grilled unagi. The eel is nicely grilled to a just crisp texture but the meat still retains a soft juicy center which has a nice smoked taste. The eel which is drizzled with sweet teriyaki sauce is one of the best I have tasted. Good if you like unagi.
