For mains, I tried the Nasi Goreng with Chicken Satay. The presentation was really faultless. The fried rice came in a platter with one prawn, a fried egg, grilled chicken satay (2 sticks) with peanut sauce, and a pickled fruit they told me was longan. The rice were fried without being too oily and tasted full of spices. The satay were grilled nicely with the meat still juicy and moist. It tasted of the smoky grilling flavour but did not overpower the meat which has a mildly sweet taste. However the prawn was not really that fresh and kills the taste which was bland as well. Overall it is still adequate if I discount the prawn. Good enough for ambience this nice.

Roasted Duck with Coffee Sauce

Roasted Duck with Coffee Sauce

I find this dish really creative with the fusion of coffee and duck. The duck is roasted to perfection with the skin crispy and so aromatic. The flesh is a bit dry maybe from roasting too long but the taste more than made up for this tiny imperfection. There is a special sauce for dipping that tasted sweet and has a tinge of sourish tangy tone to it which really enhanced the taste of the already well flavoured duck meat. Highly recommended.

Mango Pudding

Mango Pudding

One of the items in the lunch buffet is the Mango Pudding. The pudding is really smooth and so rich with mango taste. It was served in a wine glass and decorated with chocolate ganache which is crispy. There was a milky texture and the sweetness is really natural from the fruit. Since it is also light, I could finish 2 glasses without feeling heavy, this is one of the best pudding I tasted. Highly recommended.

Steamed Tilapia Smile Aug 13, 2012

Steamed Fish

Steamed Fish

I have heard about this restaurant from a lot of friends and finally I tried it at their flagship stall in Rawang. This is a simple and limited seating shop along Jalan Rawang which is quite inconspicous enough. There was nothing much in terms of decor that will indicate that this is a popular restaurant except for the huge crowds especially on weekends and holidays. The restaurant serves only one type of fish which is the Tilapia Fish and it is done in only one version; steamed with ginger and garlic. However, they have other dishes that you may order to go with rice. But since the owner recommends that everyone should have one fish to themselves and every table seemed to be doing just that, I decided to follow suit.

There really wasn't much I could critique about the steamed fish here. It is simply tasty, not just because the fish was fresh but also due to the mixture of soy sauce with ginger and garlic which really brings out the natural sweetness of the flesh. Normally river fishes has a mud taste to their flesh which is hard to get rid of but they somehow have a way to do away with that really well. The flesh is still soft and succulent, steamed just right, not over or under. Each fish is between RM15-RM20 and is definitely worth trying.

Mango Dragonfruit Juice

Mango Dragonfruit Juice

One of the surprising finds at this bakery is the Mango Dragonfruit Juice. It was really rich and thick with the freshly blended mango and dragonfruit. It was also very pleasing to see, the juice was the color of pink dragonfruit but upon tasting, the mango taste takes centrestage, the pulps of both fruits were also a nice addition adding extra texture. The sweetness is so natural that I could not get enough of the drink. The portion is also generous and there is enough for 2 to share - cost is RM12 per glass.
