Nyonya Curry with Rice and Fried Egg

Nyonya Curry with Rice and Fried Egg

The restaurant recently added a special weekday lunch set menu in addition to their permanent sets. This special menu has a daily special - for Fridays, it was Nyonya Curry with Rice & Fried Egg.

The curry gravy was really good - it was tangy due to tamarind used in the recipe and I prefer it to those coconut cream based curries which tends to be heavy.

The curry was cooked with chicken, potato, curry leaves and onions and the chicken flesh is tender and taste so good with the flavours of the curry infused in it. The curry was served with white rice and a sunny side up egg which really completes the meal. Definitely coming back again on another Friday to try it.

Very good hot chocolate Smile Jul 21, 2012

This cafe's tagline is 'At Theobroma's You Can Taste The Difference' - I really agree with it. If you are looking for something other than coffee or tea, this is the place for you. The cafe has very comfortable seats in a very nice environment to highlight your enjoyment of the chocolate products here.

They have a wide variety of chocolates, hot and cold chocolate beverages, chocolate deserts, melted chocolate dips and other variations of chocolate.

One of my favourites is the Hot Belgian Chocolate in Cup. They also serve this in a Mug and Warmer set.
The hot chocolate has such a rich chocolate taste which made it stands out among their drinks. Served in their signature cup, there were chocolate drizzled on the side of the cup as well as on top of the chocolate drink froth. You really can taste the finer quality of the belgian chocolate served in this cup of drink. The aroma was enough to make me come back again.

Roti Jala with Curry Smile Jul 21, 2012

This restaurant serves local favourites like nasi lemak and curry laksa in a coffee shop setting. Their decor reminds me of the old chinese coffee shop given a facelift.

The branch in Great Eastern Mall is not big and usually the tables are taken up fast during lunch hour on weekdays.

Their roti jala served with curry is one of my favourites. The roti jala is served warm which retains its texture which can harden when cold. This taste good with their curry which has chicken and potato in it. The curry is in a local style not too creamy or spicy. The serving is just nice - there are about 5 pieces of roti jala presented on a plated with banana leaf.

Good for those craving-for-curry days.

Best Cheese Naan in town Smile Jul 13, 2012

Categories : Indian | Restaurant

I have to say that this restaurant is honestly serving really good naan bread. They have quite a good selection of flavours to choose from such as garlic naan, cheese garlic or just cheese. The location is near Maju Junction near the post office nearer to the intersection with Jalan Sultan Ismail. Turn left after the post office into Jalan Medan Tuanku and you will see the restaurant on your right. The restaurant is the standard mamak restaurant with a buffet line for rice and dishes for you to choose like chicken, mutton, beef and fish. The seats are laid out neatly and the service was good although they only had 2 waiters.

We ordered the cheese naan on this visit and the naan is stuffed with mozzarella cheese which oozes out because they serve them hot. The bread texture is fresh from the tandoori oven and is soft and crispy. We had this with chicken and mutton curry which was a great combination. And the best thing is a plate of the naan bread costs just RM5 - curry costs RM2 a plate.

The owner looks middle eastern to me which might explain the great naan produced here. Other items on their menu are tandoori chicken and of course their signature nasi beriani.
Great! Naan with curry

Steamboat Smile Aug 18, 2012   (Related Review)

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Buffet | Steamboat/Hotpot

This steamboat restaurant has been gaining a steady reputation for years and has managed to maintain its popularity despite competition from new steamboat restaurants. I guess the secret lies in a few factors.

Their buffet ingredients for the steamboat is really varied with items ranging from crab, mantis prawns, squid, fish balls, squid balls, beef, chicken slices, noodles, fish cakes, desserts like ice cream, tofu and even yong tau foo. The buffet line selections are fresh which is really important for steamboat as these are the items that will bring more flavour to the soup.

Each table is given a dual steamboat soup bowl giving diners a chance to taste both clear and tom yam base soup and caters to different tastebuds. I find the tom yam soup really appetizing with the right level of spicyness and tangy taste achieved. The soup gets even better once you have the ingredients at a brew especially from seafood items like prawns, crabs and shellfish. The sauce for dipping is also worth a mention because it is very good, a blend of chili and lots of other ingredients which were both spicy and sweet.
