This La Joconde (House cake), cost RM12.00 per slice caught my attention immediately among the rest of the cakes.

As each slice has been placed in a tracing paper, it gave me the impression that the cake must be "fragile" means soft and breakable easily. We asked for "take-away", hence, when the attendant passed to me the box, I held it gently in case I would break the "fragile" cake.

I love the idea for having different flavour and taste which the cake came in three layers with coffee, chocolate and almond sponge cake topped with fresh cream.

Oh dear, the cake was "light" to eat, I think, I could have 3 slices at once. I could taste the fresh cream was made of egg white and the coffee flavour mousse were both soft in texture. When came to the delectable chocolate mousse layer, it was rich with bitter sweet taste which is of my liking then down to the base which is the almond sponge cake. The almond sponge cake was fluffy in texture. I personally could not get the almond taste unless the sponge is made slightly taller for better tasting. Truly with great satisfaction on the stomach and ended with a big smile on the face.

Thanks to my FB for his great thought who brought me to this place.smiletongue

Traditional French recipe Smile Aug 15, 2012

According to its blog, Tommy Le Baker "Specializes in pre-ferments and long fermentation process to nurture the taste and to achieve the full nutritional potential of bread using what the nature has provided to his baker."

Since it was our first visit, we decided to try one of its highlights, which is Country Sourdough, cost RM6.00 (500 gm).

The Sourdough or wide yeast bread is leavened by natural fermentation. According to the attendant, the process of baking the Sourdough takes up to 36 hours compared to the 90 minutes of commercial yeasted bread. The texture of the Sourdough was hard but solid. Could taste the fresh baking Sourdough, crispy on the outside but inside was chewy. It is very much depending on individual taste, some says it is tangy but to my level of taste, it is on higher sourish taste, just the sour taste that I could taste. It is best to dunk it in a drink should one find it is too hard to chew.

The mouthwatering appetizer we had was Pomelo and Duck Confit salad with Asian herbs, cost RM20.90 before tax.

The whole bowl of salad was full of pomelo, peanuts, duck confit, tomatoes and vietnam dipping which was sweet and sour with little spicy taste. We both love it for its refreshing and juicy dish. The salad was served with cabbage. We pealed layer by layer off the cabbage and wrapped it with a little amount of the salad like Vietnamese cuisine. The way it was eaten was superb! The Duck Confit was not too salty while the peanuts enhanced the dish. Tomatoes were sweet taste and the dressing was appetizing mixing with the whole ingredients. loltongue

We had the item Pan-seared Cod fish, RM50.90 before tax. The pan-seared Cod fish served with sauteed prawns on ratatouille and fried potatoes, tomatoes, olive on tomato sauce.

Nice presentation along with a nice ambience made the dish looks appetizing. Two medium size prawns topped on a pan-seared cod fish underneath was fried potatoes. The prawns and the cod were fresh. The prawns in particular, were springy in texture. The Cod was smooth in texture and sweet in taste. I like the pan-seared cod for which it cooked in golden colour and tasted a little crispy effect on the outer layer. smile yummy!

Tong Kee (棠记)'s egg tart is the best seller item that known to all. In fact, I personally find its egg tart is the best I have tried so far. The quality of its egg tart still sustained till today. I could go for 3 Tong Kee's egg tarts at once.

I love its fresh flaky crust which you can never find elsewhere and smooth egg custard which definitely not from colouring nor preservative. Not too sweet and the level of sweetness met my expectation. The baking temperature is always maintained to golden colour. The egg tart is well balanced with its crust and egg custard. Hence, I enjoyed every single bite I made. Indulgence! smiletongue
