I've been wanted to try Aunt Christina's Sarawak Laksa since a very long time after reading some of the food review blog post and my Sarawakian friends in KL who actually recommended this place one of the best Sarawak Laksa to be found in KL area.

Located at Lucky Garden in Bangsar, this little stall takes a part of Nam Chuan Coffeeshop. They have other choices such as economy rice, Penang prawn mee, pan mee and of course the Sarawak Laksa.

Laksa Sarawak (Small RM6.50 / Big RM7.00)

A bowl of Sarawak Laksa to cure my cravings. On top of the bee hoon, you can find the 2 fresh prawns, some chicken meat strips, bean sprouts, omelette strips and coriander leaves. In my opinion, the laksa gravy was pretty rich and the flavour was almost similar to the one I had back in Kuching a few months back but the bean sprouts was a little too much that every single bite I had to chew the bean sprout more than the noodle itself. The prawn was too raw as well, the laksa gravy wasn't hot enough to make it less raw. It was too pricy too. I guess maybe the rental in Bangsar cost more than places like PJ or the owner purposely increase the price just because some famous celebrity went to eat at the stall before and it was on the newspapers.

My typical cup of hot Milo while Daniel having his hot Teh-C.

Apart from the Sarawak Laksa, Aunt Christina also sells rendang, black pepper chicken and pig stomach which I heard was quite good as well.

I can still recall my very first time stepping into The Apartment Restaurant & Bar and it was at the Suria KLCC for a simple dinner with my dear friends. The warm light that brightens up the whole place gave me a very warm and homey feeling and it was well completed with indeed savoring good food that suits my taste bud. Then not long after that, I realized that they also had one in The Curve which to be joyfully nearer to where I am currently staying.

Tossed Pasta Plain

This pasta dish may look simple but it was actually very flavourful. The Tossed Pasta Plain mixed with a good quantity of chili flakes that will spice up your taste bud until your tongue feel numb but still enjoyable.

Prawn Capellini

This particular dish is one of my favorite that evening, the Prawn Capellini is served with tiger prawns, lemon zest, olive oil and marjoram. I love the tiger prawns cause it's huge and satisfying!

Baked Squid Stuffed with Herbs Rice, Served with Okra & Seafood Gumbo (RM25.90)

Stuffed Squid is heading towards more of our local taste, a bit spicy on the end yet juicy squid being stuff with risotto to make it solid and goes along with the gravy.

Pan Fried Red Snapper w/ Couscous & Lemon Butter (RM39.90)

Pan fried red snapper with couscous and lemon butter reduction is one of the dish that suits most of our local people here as one of the reason I am saying this is most of our locals love to have their meals with rice.

Almond Crusted Cod

The cod was very soft and fresh, with a gentle cut in between it just open instantly. Almond was fried crispy and brings the aroma out of it, cook along with some clams make it sweet and a bit sourish taste of tomato that makes the taste perfectly good!

Surf ‘n’ Turf

Next is the steak which is prepare medium well that comes to my liking and for the first time I see a steak pair with prawns mixture with au jus, garlic, chillies, honey glazed tiger prawns & mash. Surf ‘n’ Turf is one of the latest addition to the menu.

Overall, food was pretty good but I don't think average people who earns average salary could afford this every week. Maybe once a while perhaps? I love the ambience of this place la... a good place to chill out with besties smile

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim sum | Porridge | Private Party

Early in the morning, M girlfriend and I were somehow craving for dim sum for breakfast but after we both have moved to Kota Damansara, we have no idea where to find any dim sum place around.

So we decided to have our dim sum breakfast at Restoran Jin Xuan Hong Kong (Kota Damansara branch).

This is what we have ordered. It's a lot just for breakfast actually.

Steamed Spareribs RM4.50. Gf's favorite but it was just okay.

Har Gaw (Prawn Dumpling) RM4.50/3pcs. The prawn is quite fresh but the skin is a little too thick though.

Tasty Lo Mai Kai RM4.50/ My favorite, wasn't the best but edible.

BBQ Pork Bun RM4.00/2pcs. I don't normally go for BBQ pork bun but this was pretty good and delicious.

Siu Mai RM4.50/3pcs. Typical siu mai, the size wasn't too small but I think I had bigger ones in Jalan Ipoh.

Shrimp Rice Roll RM4.80/plate. Not that good but at least can satisfy my cravings.

Overall, it was a good breakfast. Although it might be slightly pricier than those normal coffee shops but it's more comfortable to eat in Jin Xuan since it's more chilling with air condition and it looks cleaner too.

Had KFC Egg Tart in Klang Smile Nov 04, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches | Halal

It was a pretty random choice to go for a quick bite at KFC restaurant before the wedding reception which I am covering in Klang last Saturday. I still remember the good old days when KFC's slogan was "Finger lickin' good" and "KFC - That's Where I Want To Be" but now, "So Good" doesn't really sound catchy.

We ordered 4 pieces of egg tarts, 2 pieces for each of us.

The packaging of the KFC Egg Tart looks pretty simple and I like the visual idea of showing the 6 pieces of egg tarts on the top of the box.

Om-nom-nom! I forgot to snap a picture of the bitten KFC Egg Tart with my DSLR and so I'd quickly snap it with my phone instead. It's very soft on the inside, the sweetness of it really suits my tastebud and the skin was pretty flaky. Not too oily for me too. I personally prefer this egg tarts over the one in John King's. How much does it cost? Take a look at the price below:-

rices subject to 6% Government tax where applicable. Servings featured are for illustration purposes only. Prices applicable in Klang Valley outlets only. Should any discrepancy occur in published price, the pricing at restaurant point of purchase is deemed final.

Burgertory Food Review Smile May 28, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Café | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

Last month I went over to Burgertory at SS15 for a food review thanks to Foodirector. It's actually not hard to find the place although it's on the first floor, it's located right above Guardian which one row before Maybank.

Shrooming Bull (RM15.50 - ala carte)

Firstly, let's take a look at the beef burger. The Shrooming Bull burger above filled with Cheddar mild cheese, button mushrooms and 100% grass fed beef. As you can see in the image above, it's actually the Burgertory Fry Combo set that comes with fries, onion rings, Mozzarella cheese stick and their refillable soft drink for an additional of RM9.00.

Mascarpone Curry & Cheese (RM15.00 - ala carte)

This Mascarpone Curry and Cheese burger comes with mild Cheddar cheese, fried egg, onion rings, mascarpone curry sauce & 100% premium pork. The curry sauce is not like those normal curry we used to have but it taste more like Japanese curry type that we can order in Japanese restaurant.

Swine Bacon & Cheese (RM16.00 - ala carte)

One of my favorite, the Swine Bacon and Cheese burger. Comes with mild Cheddar cheese, pork bacon & 100% premium pork. The pork is nicely seasoned and it's juicy. You wouldn't order this if you doesn't have the love for bacon and one thing for sure, you won't regret ordering this tasty burger!

Bacon & Cheese Plus+ (RM24.00 - ala carte

Ingredients are same as the Swine Bacon and Cheese burger but you get to have double pork patty and more cheese! If you just came out from a jungle, this will satisfy your pork craving and if you just want a normal dinner... then you better skip this as this might be too filling for some people.

Burgertory Treasure (RM13.00 - ala carte)

One of the highlights that evening, the Burgertory Treasure. Comes with mild Cheddar cheese & crispy pork lard with 100% premium pork... yes you read it right, it's crispy pork lard!!! All I can say is after having this, you probably might want to think of starting your exercise routine again the next day. It's simply delicious but at the same time satisfying.

No doubt they have one of the best pork burger in town. Just that they need to improve on the buns. Love the free soft drinks refill smile
