Ice cream fondue Cry Dec 31, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hotpot

Ice cream fondue sounds really fancy and indulgent, but this neither looked nor tasted indulgent. The love letters, marshmallows and ice cream were budget-grade and could probably be found on the discount aisles at your local supermarket. The chocolate was very sweet and greasy, didn't taste like proper chocolate.

Substandard western food Cry Dec 31, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook

Chicken chop is a deep fried, dry piece of frozen chicken. Meat is also very scarce, and just full of flour. Sauce is too salty and tastes of processed oils. Fries are dry and very little. Look at the sad piece of cucumber topped with cheap salad sauce and crumbs of vegetables that they dare to call "served with vegetables". Sadness.

Sushi Peasant Cry Dec 30, 2013

You know your salmon isn't fresh enough to be considered sushi-grade when you call it "carpaccio" and dress it up with citrus sauce. Raw stuff is definitely a no-go here. Can smell the fishiness. Sauce was zesty though.

All the rolls also taste quite mediocre and overpriced.

Curry mee Cry Dec 27, 2013

Old Town White Coffee is not a place that I would typically come for food, but since I was here having a yum char session and was feeling pecking, I decided to just go for it.

Their curry mee is very small, and the char siew was tough. Long beans tasted like they've been frozen too long.

Prawn mee Cry Dec 27, 2013

I got dragged to this random "modern" kopitiam for lunch. Decided to just simply try something different, so I ordered the prawn mee. I knew I'd be disappointed with anything, but I just wanted to try something different. The gravy was diluted, not sour enough, and most of the ingredients tasted frozen.
