Beef noodles soup Smile Nov 26, 2013
Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Noodles

I normally prefer my noodles in "kon lou" or "dry" (sauced) format, but I make an exception at this place... though mostly by force (since they don't even serve dry version of their noodles); and for good reason. Their beef soup is the core of their offerings, their specialty. It's very rich in beefy flavours. They offer many varieties of the standard offerings (innards and meat of various types), but I typically opt for tenderloin and brisket - the lean stuff. Make no mistake, lean does not mean dry or tough; in fact it is the contrary - super tender and soft. Perhaps my favourite beef soup, and at a modest price.

Good Pineapple Tart! Smile Dec 31, 2013

Pineapple tart is like the famous buy back item for my family. Personally I like pineapple tart. This one I bought from Jalan Tokong was actually same as the one at Jalan Laksamana; buttery crust so crumbly that you have to salvage the crumbs. The fillings was enjoyable smile

Not up to the hype Smile Dec 27, 2013

They are no longer just one stall. In fact, the stall is just for take away. To dine in or take away, they have a whole huge lot, which can seat a few hundred people. When we were there, it was TOTALLY CROWDED (before 12pm - they now open at 11am). Still, queue was short and service was quick. The mak cik was very polite and nice.

The coconut shake was nice but not up to the hype. It was refreshing and cool, with bits of flesh and nice, but not sweet, except for the ice cream in it (before you mix, it's not sweet). But for RM2.20, it's incredible. Really worth the money but maybe not the time for me to drive 25km from my parents' house to get there.

Pineapple Tart Smile Dec 31, 2013

I really ove pineapple tart, at the same time, I know how painful to actually make one yourself. The crust was thick but crumbly, just make sure you have a bowl with you to finish off the crumbs. The fillings was just nice, not too sweet and not too sour.

Best onde-onde Smile Dec 24, 2013

Everywhere we go in Malacca, onde-onde is something we're always quick to pick up when stumbling across any promising shop selling them. The one at Baba Charlie is indeed the best. Thin "shell", loads of coconut shavings, and plenty of molten gula melaka - sweet and gooey.
