Here's more from the menu of Mediteca, officially opening next week (only four more days!).

Can't call it a Spanish meal without some sort of ham, right? Mediteca has ruled out pork, so it's the beef version here, 120-day dry-aged and served with garlic, tomatoes and rustic bread.

Fans of steak tartare might like to sample Mediteca's seabass tartare, a brilliant, briny riff on the raw classic.

We're saving Mediteca's desserts (it's a fairly short list) for future visits; for now, a look at what's sweetening the scene nearby at Nerovivo, managed by the company that owns Mediteca.

Nerovivo's inventive temptations include a Marsala semifreddo with caramelized pear.

Nerovivo might be KL's only place for sampling a rosemary herb-tinged creme brulee.

Here's more from the menu of Mediteca, officially opening next week (only four more days!).

Huevos rotos, the egg is broken! Poached pleasure, fabulously fragrant with mushrooms, potatoes, sweet onions and a truffle emulsion.

Chef Manuel Lopez pays homage to his Andalusian heritage with this revised version of the Malaga salad, whipped up with cod fish, oranges, potatoes, onions, black olives and yogurt. What sounds like an eccentric mishmash of components works well, ultimately.

Of course, there's paella too, a wet, richly aromatic pan of it, made hearty with much seafood.

Festivities mean food; here's a look at saccharine specialties to celebrate two fast-approaching seasons of love (how do you measure, measure a mooncake?).

Refusing to be boxed in, Chynna at the KL Hilton remains one of the city's most recommended purveyors of Mid-Autumn marvels.

Deliciously Chocolate is another brilliant bet for gift-giving to friends with a sweet tooth; throughout the Aidilfitri celebration over the next month, here's what's in store.

Pandan-infused macarons, comprising coconut shavings and gula melaka for a memorably chewy center, not a creamy one. Thanks to flavors reminiscent of many a Malay kuih, this might be something a village matriarch could love.

Also inventive: macarons with spiced cardamom and white chocolate (East, meet West), plus others flavored with raspberries and filled with pomegranate ganache.

And of course, there's no leaving a place like Deliciously Chocolate without a chocolate treat like this mega-muffin, enough for two to share.

Purchase four mooncakes and receive a beautiful case for free, sturdy enough for storing keepsakes long after the mooncakes have been consumed.

Hilton's 2012 highlight: handcrafted Musang King snowskin durian mooncakes, filled 100 percent with the flesh of this spiky fruit.

A royally creamy "Heavenly Gold" Raja Kunyit premium concoction, delicately but indelibly flavored. Costs slightly upward of RM30 per piece.

Also well worthwhile: snowskin lotus paste with soft salted egg yolk custard.

Blue Moon: Amaretto lotus paste with blueberry cheese feuillantine (under RM20).

Modern makeovers of Korean restaurants are all the rage in the Klang Valley. First, Namoo on the Park made its mark recently at Publika. Now, Bulgogi Brothers is set to make waves at Paradigm Mall and Pavilion.

Complimentary at this K-Pop-loving eatery: ultra-creamy pumpkin soup, naturally sweet.

Can't take beef? No prob, there's a chicken equivalent too (RM29.90++), featuring thigh meat marinated for six hours in BB's secret sauce.

Don't dump the dumplings: the seafood-stuffed ones here, served with mussels, shrimp and squid (RM33.90++), make our must-eat sense tingle. Like a cross between keropok lekor and karipap.

Something special: Sweet plum golden-hued wine (RM66++).
