Pat Kin Pat Sun cafe (不见不散茶餐厅) is one place you should try when you happens to dropby Southgate. It is almost a hidden gem as there are not much restaurants/shops in the area. Unless you are a fan of Nichii, do pay a visit to this cafe for lunch. They do have an all day dim sum promotion (from RM2-4 per plate), but I’ll rather stick to what a Char Chan Teng (HK style cafe) do best – Ying Yong and toast is a must try!
Great!

Great!

Curry Chicken Noodle Set with a glass of cold Ying Yong. We can choose from a variety of drinks available and Ying Yong seems to be my fav. The curry soup is thick and full, and the portion is amazing. For the price of 7.90, I think this worth every penny. If compared to Kim Gary, PKPS deserves the two thumbs up for their food in terms of serving and taste. The lack would be a strategic location, so it would be non convincing at the first look when you see an almost empty cafe.
Superb!

Superb!

The Ice cream & Peanut Butter Thick Toast RM5.90 is love at first sight. shocked It looks exactly as in the menu and was delicious. Peanut butter toast topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, not forgetting the choco fudge was heavenly. This is indeed a great treat and filling up at the same time. Bill comes with 10% taxes and RM1 for parking is needed to get into Southgate.

The A&W Classic Waffle Smile May 28, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches | Halal

I call it the ‘Mother of all Waffles’. The A&W waffle existed when there are no other waffle kiosk available back in the 90’s. All we can get is the classic waffle served only with strawberry sauce and topped with a vanilla ice cream. We are indeed satisfied with just that, compared to the offerings today – peanut butter, chocolate sauce, kaya and planta are all too fancy for some people. But this simpicity in life make one craving for the classic. Yup, I still love the classic (again) – the A&W root beer float and their bear mascot tongue

First Yu Sheng in 13 Smile Mar 19, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood | Ramen/Udon/Soba | Private Party

It is another month to go before CNY and yu sheng has surfaced again from the menus of any Japanese restaurants in Klang Valley. One of my favourite treat - fresh salmon! Norwagein or Japanese salmon is not my concern while every restaurants selling Yu Sheng has claimed their salmon is from Norwagein after the contamination of Japanese salmon last year. The truth is, we just can’t live without our salmon cut for the yu sheng. From Japan or not.
Good

Good

Sushi Tei’s Signature Yu Seng (S) RM16.80 is straighly for 2 pax (it was 1-3pax in their menu but it is never enough). Salmon is generously sliced and the yu sheng ingredients looks good and fresh. Served cold – another plus point. We’re given a pack of ‘pok pok chui’ or crispy crackers and it really filled up the plate. I guess Sushi Tei should consider the balance of the portion as well. It was all crackers and I can’t hardly taste any chuka wakame. The sauce is very regular, sourish and too sweet to me.
ok

ok

Yakitori Don RM12.80 to filled ourselves up. Served in a standard sized bento box, presentable, and the portion is huge too – share friendly. The only set backs was the teriyaki chicken seems to be a bit tough and dry (tasted like char siu).

Conclusion: salmon is still Sushi Tei’s strength, so their yu sheng is a must try. Green tea is RM2 per cup, refillable, and water is RM0.80. Bill came with additional gov and service taxes.

Sweet Warm Desserts Smile Dec 29, 2012
Categories : Malaysian variety | Western variety | Café | Noodles | Desserts

I’m a conservative fella when it comes to desserts. Fancy ones such as Snowflakes or Tong Pak Fu took us by storm with their popularity but something amiss is the warm feeling a dessert brings. It might be the memories of home cooked dessert that was stuck in my mind. Sweet Chat seems to have what it takes to revive the good old feeling of having warm desserts, especially in a rainy day!
Great!

Great!

One of my favourite desserts of all time - the Sweet Potato Soup (RM5) is something I would crave once in awhile. The gingery taste of the soup works wonder when I’m having a bloated tummy. It’s hot and warms the stomach instantly. They use orange and red potatoes, another remedy for any windy stomachs.
Good

Mix Tong Yuen in Soymilk (RM5) comes in 2 flavours for its fillings - peanut and black sesame. This is a light version of traditional ginger soup base tong yuen, and it is still as chewy as we all know it. It wasn’t as superb as the Penang’s Tang Yuen stall, but definately worth a try. Other than that, they do have many variety of cold and warm desserts to chose from. The bill arrived with additional 10+6% taxes.

Good Food Behind Xi-Men-Ting Smile Oct 13, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Taiwanese | Restaurant | Noodles

Now you can find Taiwanese home cook cuisine in Xi-Men-Ting, named after the popular shopping district in Taipei. The restaurant looks like the regular ‘char chan teng’, but a bit unmaintained. Doesn’t make me convinced if there weren’t so many reviews, and to my surprise the food here is not disappointing at all.

Superb!

Superb!

Have you ever tasted chicken that was deep-fried into such crispness and tender inside-out? The Chicken Drum Steak (RM7.90),which was actually a marinated, fried drumstick is a MUST! Although it is a bit oily to some people liking, but this lovely leg is as finger licking good as the KFC’s. You don’t feel the flour sticking all over the skin, but just a thin layer leaves it light enough to enjoy your munch. It comes with a big bowl of noodle to balanced it out, topped with lettuce and minced pork.

I’ve ordered the Ginger Duck Rice set (RM11.90) which comes with a glass of Honey Green Tea and jelly dessert. The food tasted very home cooked. The duck was tender, and it comes with a bowl of soup with 2 pork meatballs in it. Before we could finish up with the drinks and dessert, a colony of ants were invading our table. We just left the remaining as the rest was just too plain to remember.
