Another Afternoon Tea Smile Oct 05, 2013   (Related Review)

Another visit to this amazing place for afternoon tea.

We've ordered the Fortune for RM55 which includes:
-TWG Tea from the tea list
-A choice of warm toasted sandwich (turkey ham, vegetarian or smoked salmon)
-Choice of 2 freshly bakes scones/muffins served with jelly and whipped cream or 1 patisserie from the trolley
-A choice of 3 macarons

TWG Tea Croque Imperial
I can see that they still maintain the high quality for their salmon sandwiches with melting cheese on top and generous portion of arugula salad. Embellished with red cherry tomato.

Sakura Cake
Not much of sakura scent of flavour here, not that I can tell.
Looked pretty in photos but didn't impress in the mouth.

I agreed that TWG offers some of the best macarons in town. These didn't disappoint.

We've ordered extra scones this time and they were perfect, especially with their 1837 black tea infused fruit jam.

Lan je steam fish is already famous among the fish lovers and thanks to livingsocial that I finally get to try this at a cheaper rate.

A not to be missed Thai coconut.

We've ordered 2 fishes (talapia fish that ranges from Rm15-18 each), one with normal level of spiciness, another extra spicy so we get to try different sauces.
I prefer the normal one as I can still taste the fish instead of spiciness alone. Though of Talapa type, this fish didn't have muddy taste.

Minced meat tofu that exceeded our expectation of those chilled cubic white tofu with minced meat. Very nice indeed.

Simple and nice fried vege with garlic.

Great execution of prawn omelette.

Another affordable alternative for those who seek to have home-cooked food.

Recommended Dish(es):  steamed talapia fish

At Tanjung Sepat, seafood is a must!

This popular Ocen Seafood Restaurant located just right next to Lover's Bridge.

We didn't know what to order at first, so we peek into other's table and found these few dishes are in high demand.

Sizzling Oyster Omelette

"Seafood Taufu Claypot" : Crabmeat, Taufu and Mushroom
A must try! Love this!

"Fried Crispy Sotong"
Good one.

"Salted Egg Crab"
Fresh seafood.

"Steam Pomfret"
The best pomfret I've ever had!
It was so fresh and well cooked!

"Clam in Chinese Wine"
Very spicy with chili padi.

I wanted to try this small bottle of wine since my first visit a few months ago.
So both of us ordered White Wine-Hardys Nottage Hills for RM22.
If I remembered correctly, one small bottle was just enough for 2 full wine glasses which were perfect for us.
We don't have to figure out what to do with the wine in case we couldn't finish it.

Soup of the day -Pumpkin soup for RM10.
Very big portion for me. It was almost 2 palm size of mine.

Wild Mushroom Soup for RM18.

Red Wine Chicken for RM40.

Fusili Carbonara for RM30.
I love love love carbonara!
I would definitely try carbonara if it is on the restaurant menu.
This was too salty and the sauce was too thick for me, I didn't finish it.

I left a good impression on this place for its superb service and hospitality, with relax ambience,
especially suitable for couple <3
However, the food quality is not as good as expected given the price they charge.
Maybe only a piece of cake and wine for the next visit.

Very easy to spot this restaurant as it occupies one whole bungalow unit along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng.
However, parking unit is very limited, like 4-5 cars only.
So we parked at the parking space just behind, but being charged by the another restaurant that claimed the parking belong to them. Paid RM5.

Since we have 9 people, we demanded for private room.
(Minimum expenses is RM300)
These are all the decorations and furniture in our room.

Mango Kerabu -Large
We ordered one meat and one vegetarian, total RM67.80 for both.
Meat one definitely tasted better than the vegetarian one.
At first i thought only the ingredient inside is different, but no, the yam texture is different too.

Philippines Fried Eggplant -Small.
We ordered two as well, to cater for 9 people.
RM23.80 for both, RM11.90 each.
It is one of the must-try appetizer here.
More like eggplant with tempura/french fries style, then add a bit of sweet and spicy sauce.

Indonesian LaLa -Large.
Ordered 2 plates, total RM99.80 for both, RM49.90 each.
Yes, the lala is tasty, but not the big portion as large.
RM49.90 for this plate is expensive.
p.s: This is according to seasonal price, price not available in the menu.

Cencalok Prawn-Large.
Ordered 2 plates, RM177.80 for both, RM88.90 each.
Almost RM10 each prawn. Seriously???

Steam Seck Pan.
Ordered one, RM75.80.

1919 Homemade Tofu.
Ordered 2 plates, RM47.80 both, RM23.90 each.
This is another must try at 1919.
Tofu is so smooth and the vege besides not only for decoration, edible also.

Including rice for 8 people and tea, the bill came to us for RM662.85.
Bear in mind that the service charge of 5% alone costs us RM31.55.
That's an average of RM73.65 per person!
Such a rip-off!
We were all very shocked and never expected it to be such expensive.

Well, the service is good with friendly staff and cosy environment that feels like home.
Definitely not noisy, good place for gathering.
Feedback were asked and we said too salty for both visits.
If the environment is homey/old times oriented, please make the food less salty as mama's cooking as well?
