Naughty Babe Dirty Duck  Smile Sep 29, 2015

We went Dip N Dip Bangsar for dessert but on the way to Dip
N Dip we saw Naughty Babe Dirty Duck crowded with people therefore I wanted to
give it a try during my next visit to Bangsar as I heard a mixed review about
the restaurant. The restaurant is located next to KGB (Killer Gourmet Burger).
The restaurant offers limited choices of foods while a wide varieties of
beverages. We were there to try their Naughty Babe Dirty Duck BBQ Pork Ribs. We
just ordered Half Slab of Ribs to try as it only two of us (Me and my sister)
and it should be more than enough for us. Couple of people occupied the
restaurant when we arrived at 5pm, as it is too early for dinner. The ambiance
of the restaurant was welcoming and cool. They have 2 types of seating for the
customers (Indoor and outdoor) and we prefer indoor as it was hot outside but
at night outdoor would be good choice. I
loved their environment.

They have 2 types of sauce to go with the ribs (Tomato sauce and Hot stuff). We choose Hot Stuff sauce for our ribs. It tasted spicy and gives a kick to the ribs when you eat them together. The Ribs was seasoned well, tender and the meat breaks apart from the bone very easily.

Naughty Babe Dirty Duck (Half Slab) @ RM 38

It was yummylicious late lunch for us. The staffs are friendly and lovely environment. Good place to drop by dinner or hangout with friends.

Shunka Japanese Restaurant  Smile Aug 12, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Ramen/Udon/Soba | BBQ

Shunka is a Japanese Restaurant that specializes
in serving Japanese Cooked meal instead of Sushi and Sashimi’s. They started off
their first outlet in Penang mainly targeting the Kampung People (Village People)
and after their success, they started to spread their business around Malaysia
and currently they are having an Outlets in Penang (Bukit Mertajam,
Butterworth,Burma Road, Alma), Perak (Parit Buntar, Kampar, Taiping), Kedah
(Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani) and Petaling Jaya (Aman Suria). I had my food
testing (Openrice) in their Petaling Jaya, Aman Suria outlet that is located
behind Nasi Kandar Kayu Original. The restaurant serves an extensive menu like
Appetizer, Salad, Sashimi, Sushi, Ramen, Don, Bento, Mini Steamboat, Sake, Matcha
and Beverages. Couple of people occupied the restaurant when we arrived around
7pm.The dishes that are served that night are Japanese Omelette (Tamago Yaki),
Kimchi Steamboat, Japanese Dumpling (Yaki Gyoza), Squid Butter Grilled (Ika Bata Yaki), Pork
Belly, Crispy Sushi (Sushi Katsu), Teriyaki Bibimbap, Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen,
Garlic Fried Rice, Japanese Omelette Noodle, Hot Matcha and Hot Green Tea.

Hot Green Tea was good.

Squid Butter Grilled (Ika Bata Yaki) is freshly imported from Japan and it will be grilled together with the butter. It was soft, fresh and has a good aroma of butter. Dip the squid in their home made mayonnaise for the taste to pop out.

Squid Butter Grilled @ RM 22.90

Crispy Sushi was delicious. It is something different from the normal sushi we eat at Japanese Restaurant. It is a fried sushi with mayonnaise added on the top, which gives a kick to the dish.

Crispy Sushi @ RM 13.90

Japanese Dumpling (Yaki Gyoza) is made of pork and vegetable (Chu Chai). The Dumpling skin was pan fried into crispy and yet the fillings was juicy. Dip the Japanese Dumpling in their special sauce instead of the normal ginger and vinegar.

Japanese Dumpling (Yaki Gyoza) @ RM 10.50

Japanese Omelette was freshly made after the customer placed their order instead of the normal cold Tamago that serve in any other Japanese Restaurant. Tamago Yaki is made of 5 layer of thin egg crepe, cheese is placed in between the crepe and topped with mayonnaise. It has a nice egg taste and the sweet taste from the mayonnaise.

Japanese Omelette (Tamago Yaki ) @ RM 8.40

Pork Belly was yummy and it is the first dish that finished off fast on the table.

Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen was salty as they wanted to remain the original flavour from the Japan but they also have other Ramen that has modified according to the Malaysian Taste buds. However, if you wanted to try authentic Ramen then go for it. The staffs will advice you about the saltiness before you order the dish so it is up to you guys. The noodle was cooked perfectly and goes well with the soup.

Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen @ RM 19.90

Garlic rice was cooked with the normal rice instead of the Japanese Rice to have more rich and aromatic flavour. It is only cooked after the customer placed their order and not pre-cooked earlier.

Garlic Fried Rice @ RM 10.50

Teriyaki Bibimbap was similar to the Korean Bibimbap it was served in a hot pot and tasted good.

Terriyaki Bibimbap @ RM 19.70

Japanese Omelette Noodle was okay for me, as the dish needed a bit more seasonings. The Noodle tasted a bit blend for me even though the egg adds some taste to the food.

Japanese Omelette Noodle @ RM 13.90

Kimchi Steamboat has 3 options for the customer to choose from Spicy, Non-Spicy and Medium Spicy. Non- Spicy Kimchi Steamboat is their signature dish in the restaurant and since there is a request for spicy taste from the customer, they add Medium Spicy flavour. Spicy is really spicy and it is perfect for spicy food lovers while non-spicy has a mild spicy taste. The flavour of the food remain the same despite of spiciness level. Their Kimchi is spicy which is different from the other Korean Kimchi which serves spicy and sour Kimchi.

Kimchi Steamboat @ RM 17.90

Hot Matcha was heaven. It has very rich green tea flavour and creamy milk taste. It was mind blowing. I really loved it.

Hot Matcha @ RM 7.30

Soda tasted similar to the 7up but it has an additional sweet taste.

It was super good dinner with Openrice member and bloggers. The foods are tasty and they are different from the normal Japanese Restaurant as they mainly focus on cooked meals and the concept of everyone can afford a good Japanese meal. They have set lunch from Monday-Saturday, which is worth considering. It will be pack for dinner therefore; it is advisable to make a reservation if you are having a big group of people. Check out their Wechat and Facebook for their latest updates and promotion.

Thanks to Openrice for inviting me over to the Food Testing and it was my pleasure to be a part of it.

Dal.Komm Coffee Smile Aug 01, 2015

Categories : Korean | Western variety | Restaurant | Sweets/Snack

My boyfriend had a welcoming party at Dol.Komm Coffee @ Damansara Uptown. The Dol.Komm Coffee is a Korean Cafe that specialized in Bingsu .A type of Korean Shaved Ice that is popular in Jeju Island, Korea. The workers welcomed us at the entrance when we entered the cafe and you have to order and pay at the counter before finding a place to seat. After your order, you will give an alien device which will vibrate once your order is ready and you just have to pick it up at the counter. I ordered Chocolate Lava Bingsu.
Chocolate Lava Bingsu was heaven. A Korean Shaved Ice was topped with a Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream and Chocolate Lava Cake. Try some chocolate lava cake first before mixing it together as you can have a chance to taste both flavours (Before and after mixing in). The chocolate in the cake will be frozen once it is mixed with the ice and gives a nice taste to the Bingsu. So Good!! Chocolate Lovers please try it.
Chocolate Lava Bingsu @ RM 19.90

It was an awesome supper. The Bingsu is a good option for dessert but they only have limited choices like Grapefruit Bingsu (Best Seller & Signature) , Apple Crumble Bingsu (Best Seller), Lemon Dazzling Bingsu, Coffee Cube Bingsu, Blueberry Deluxe Bingsu and Strawberry Romance Bingsu. Good place to hangout with friends and buy 1 share it among the friends, as the portion was quite big.

Planned to have dinner at Restaurant Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee but it was super crowded and we are already starving so we changed our plan to EPICURO. Epicuro is located at Damansara Utama (Same Row with Korean Bingsu Restaurant). The cafe serves Pasta, Snacks, Beverages, Desserts, Sandwiches, Fish & Chips, Salads, Appetizers, Sides and Soups. Couple of people only occupied the cafe when we arrived but started filling up quickly for dinner. The ambiance of the cafe was cool, freezing, and welcoming. They have both indoor and outdoor seating area. For me, it was good option to choose outdoor seating as it is windy and relaxing. I ordered Spaghetti Carbonara and Lemon & Ginger Tea Pot.
Ginger & Lemon Tea was smooth and strong. One pot is enough to share among 2-3 peoples.
Ginger & Lemon Tea @ RM 9

Carbonara Spaghetti was cooked with cheese, bacon , perfectly cooked poached egg and a dash of parsley. Breaking the egg add a smooth and creamy texture to the spaghetti. It just melted in my mouth. Gorgeous!!
Spaghetti Carbonara @ RM 22.90

It was an awesome dinner. The food was delicious and the service was excellent except when I asked the server “What is the soup of the day?” Her reply was “still making” and it was 9pm. I was really shocked with her reply. Hahahaha J It was very easy to find car parking at night and good place to hang out with friends and family.
REMINDER: Price in the menu is different from the price stated on their website so it not really up to date.

Steamboat on this rainy weather is always a perfect idea, moreover on a Friday night. Cool right!! You can spend time with your friends & family until late night without worrying about waking up early for class/work. This round we went Xing Hotpot & BBQ, located at C180, Cheras. This Hotpot & BBQ restaurant offers unique dining experiences compared to some other steamboat restaurant. What is so unique about this steamboat & BBQ restaurant? You get a chance to catch your own Prawns, Escargort and Lala from the aquarium tank by yourself for the steamboat and BBQ. But be careful as the prawns will be flying all over the area while you are trying to catch it. Hahahaha!! We were greeted upon entering and the staff seated us in the table. A couple of people occupied the restaurant when we arrived at 6.30pm but it was filling up soon later on. It was an open-air concept restaurant and I guess this concept is perfect to have a BBQ and steamboat as it has good air ventilation and make the dining experience enjoyable.

We chose Tom Yum & Chicken Soup for the steamboat and both of it tasted equally good. Seafood's are good to have with Tom Yum while Chicken Soup is good to have with all the vegetables and tofu.

Beverage Choices (Herbal Tea, Orange Tea, Lemon Tea and Chinese Tea). I loved their Orange Tea and Herbal Tea. Good to have with Steamboat & BBQ.

Few dishes to have while waiting for the Steamboat and BBQ to be ready (Nuggets, Fries, Squid Rings, Salad, Chicken Wings, Prawns, Noodles and Fried Rice)

BBQ meats are good, it has it’s own flavour and doesn’t require any sauce to go with. All BBQ meats are marinated with the spices except Satay and Taufu.

Plenty of seafood choices (Prawn, Oyster, Lala, Crab, Shellfish, Squid, Snails, Fish and Scallops)

Grilled Prawns was meaty and juicy. We used fresh prawns to do BBQ so it was yum. Grilled Oyster is good to have too.

It was a good dinner for us. Friendly service and good hospitality which is very rare to expect in some Steamboat restaurant. Very frequent in refilling the ingredients except the live prawns. I think it is only refilled a couple of times during our entire stay and I manage to get some of it as I am one of the earliest customers of the day. My favorites are Prawn, Tom Yum & Chicken Soup, Crab, Mushroom and Cheese Taufu.

Thanks for the delicious food!!
