awesome selection of beers... Smile Aug 08, 2014

Taps Beer Bar is one of the few joints in KL that you can actually enjoy a huge selection of brews. Sadly this concept isn't big in Malaysia hence Taps is a great find. If not mistaken they have a selection of 15 draft brews which they rotate weekly out of over 50 to 80 varieties. However you can still get them in bottles if the draft you prefer isn't on tap that week. Usually drink up to 5 varieties per visit. Value wise it can get pricey but that is what you have to pay for imported brews in Malaysia. Something we just can't avoid.
Location wise it is a nice quieter corner of KL behind a hotel hence no noise from the busy streets. Good for a Sunday afternoon chill out session. Service is good and attentive. Food wise their menu is limited but what they do offer is pretty decent. Had a good burger there. A must visit for those that value craft brews and want something different from the commercial stuff found everywhere.

yummy indian rojak... OK Aug 08, 2014

Indian rojak sold out of a mobile van. Best that I have found in PJ so far. I frequent the one at SS2 same row as Starbucks & Chatime. Friendly chap with quick service. Reasonably priced too. Clean to top it off. Fresh ingredients with a killer sauce. Great whenever you have a fix for rojak. Don't forget to add the sotong. Gives a good kick!

yummy noodles at a price... Smile Aug 08, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles | Porridge

This is the best place in PJ to get yummy Chinese noodles but at a price. It isn't as pricy as some places however it is still higher than our hawker stalls. Give or take around 30% more but the quality is good and you dine in a nice air conditioned restaurant. The service is good and prompt. They have a big selection of noodles and I have tried at least 80% of the menu and can safely say they are all yummy and consistant. I recommend you try the curry noodles & wantan mee w/ 3 meats. They also have lovely chinese desserts which is a great end to your lunch or dinner.
Only downside would be the noise level withint the restaurant. When it gets crowded, due to the design of the place it isn't very comfortable. People who are sensitive to noise might get bothered.

This is one of the oldest coffee shops in Kuala Lumpur if not Malaysia. A true institution and must visit for all. Its gets very crowded so please be prepared to wait. Tables are shared most of the time due to how popular they are. Don't be put off though as its all worth it.
Service is prompt and good. They remember whos waiting in line and will seat you the moment space clears up. No cutting queues here. The owners are super friendly and usually remembers the usuals.
They have amazing selection of local favourites which are very yummy and of good value. Make sure you try the pork chop, roti bakar, roti babi, marble cake, lum mee, kaya roll and beef noodles. Their kaya is home made and so lovely. Make sure to grab a cup to go. Their thick local coffee is also to die for. Once I had 4 cups! On weekends they have their pork roast with crackling and this is a real treat. However it sells out within an hour after coming out of the oven!
They might move soon as the original tenants want the building back however they will move nearby so no worries you still have your chance to try this place out. Not to be missed!

great asian fusion... OK Aug 07, 2014

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

Wondermama is an interesting take on kopitiams serving up great Asian fusion. It has a charming decor with a cosy al fresco dining area which is covered & surrounded by shady plants. Service is attentive & friendly. Prices are pretty reasonable for Bangsar with decent sized portions.
Where it shines would be the food choices. Common dishes with an interesting twist. From the deep fried calamari with cili padi & ikan bilis to nacho chips with spicy minced beef. Both so very addictive. Good mains would be their Nasi Lemak 4.0, WM Spicy Spaghetti, D&L Nyonya Laksa, Seafood Maggi Mee Goreng & Black Spider Fried Rice. If you want something Western they also have pizzas, salads & burgers with an Asian twist. For dessert do try the Durian Crepe, WM Chendol or the Banana & Nutella Crepe. They do have a good selection of breakfast options which I have yet to try. Would definitely return to check them out.
Overall a great place for a date or group outing. The menu is extensive & exciting which will surely get one returning.
