average nyonya food.. OK Aug 09, 2014

There are many Nyonya food joints in Malacca and unfortunately this place falls short. Their food and quality are just so so. Service is mediocre at best. They do have a huge restaurant so its suitable for large groups however not worth the price and taste. Much nicer options along the same street. Nothing really special to recommend but I guess if the other places are full you can give this place a try.

This is the place to go for awesome naan & tandoori. Can't believe after frequenting Malacca for years that I just only got to try this place out. The naan (whatever variety) is fluffy & soft. Goes great with the dal or you can opt to have any of the North Indian side dishes like palak paneer & butter chicken. The tandoori chicken itself is another treat. Tender, succulent and spicy. My mouth is just watering thinking about it.
Not to be missed joint in Malacca. I dare say it is one of the best if not the best naan & tandoori in Malaysia.

alternative satay celup choice... OK Aug 09, 2014

When it comes to satay celup everyone says head to Capitol but I can't bear waiting in line for hours. No food is that great. So usually I find alternatives. This is one of them. Decent sauce and choices. Price is generally the same all around.
There are 2 shops with the same name side by side. Not sure what their story is but both similar sauce and options. The one on the left is generally busier. Both are clean with good speedy service.
If you are hankering for some satay celup and don't want to wait in line do give this place a try.

Headed here to have some drinks and chill during the afternoon. They have a good selection of beers on tap or bottle however rather pricey. Guess you are paying for being in Hard Rock.
Sat outside overlooking the river. Nice view, breezy and great to watch the world go by. Ended up spending 3 hours and lots of pints.
Service is reasonable. Décor is typical Hard Rock. Can't speak about the food as we never tried anything. Would recommend a stop just to enjoy the HR experience.

There are quite a few Nyonya restaurants in Melaka. This is one of the oldest & is the best around. Only issue would be getting in. Gets way too crowded during peak times especially on weekends.
Service is a hit & miss. When crowded they can get snappish however food does come pretty fast. They do try to quicken the turnover as business is brisk. The interior is clean & comfy decorated with Peranakan related items.
Notable dishes to try would be the Ayam Buah Keluak, Asam Fish, Cincalok Omelette, Nyonya Chap Chye, Ayam Pongteh, Sotong Sambal & Okra Kerabu. All fresh, super yummy & very authentic. The cendol is just so so. Do note they are halal.
Overall would definitely recommend as the place for Nyonya food when in Melaka. If you can get through the door that is.
