Simple lunch OK Mar 23, 2016
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood | Ramen/Udon/Soba | Halal

Before Zakuro relocated to The Scott Garden it was situated at Jalan Ampang next to Ampang Park. This is my third visit after lapse of many years. I intend to order their set lunch which is more reasonable. The rice set price starts from RM19.90 with one main dish and RM24.90 for 2 main dishes. They are wide variety of main dish to choose from such as Salmon, Chicken, Tempura, Saba etc.

After placing the order, we were served with one mini plate of appetizer. It tastes like preserved papaya however it was not. It seems that it was watermelon and they trim the flesh and left only the white flesh near the skin. It was very crunchy, sweet and sour. Yet they slice it thinly.

After waited for 20mins, finally my lunch is served. I have Salmon Shioyaki, the set comes with Steam rice, Miso soup, mini appetizer and Watermelon. The overall portion is acceptable. Taste wise is just average nothing impressive.

My friend who ordered Gyu Teppayaki and Salmon Terriyaki commented the overall taste is average only.

For your information, Green Tea is not inclusive in the set lunch you need to add on additional RM3.00 for free flow of Green Tea.

Beef noodle OK Feb 23, 2016

Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Noodles

I have no idea whether Tangkak Beef Noodle is very famous in Johor, looking at the press ad displayed in the shop, it seems yes. I had tried their beef noodle many years ago in Taman Maluri branch but eventually closed down.

Tangkak Beef Noodle has taken over Tai Lei Loi Kei Macau Pork Bun unit at Taman Segar nearby Leisure Mall. Parking is a challenge at this area, alternatively you can park inside Leisure Mall and walk over here. Today is a Saturday dinner time, the shop was quite only 3 tables are occupied.

There do not offer variety of the menu but main highlights are always the beef noodle. There are 2 sizes for you to choose from – Small or Large. I like to have a bowl of small mix beef noodle. Of course, I will go for Mee Hoon. If you prefer Lai Fun, yes is available here.

My Beef Noodle (RM11.90) consist of beef, stomach and tendon. The broth was thick and flavourful, full of beefy smell. Beef stomach and tendon were tender too. Piping hot soup really satisfy my stomach.

I want to drink something light, hence I would like to have a cup of Hot Lemon (RM3.20).

To those who are Beef Noodle lover, you may have it a try.

Sweet drinks OK Feb 12, 2016
Categories : Western variety | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches

Garage 51- a café located at Bandar Sunway nearby Sunway University. I believe most of you have heard of this café which they are famous for their drink series- Messed Up Family. Therefore I have purposely made a trip there just to try it out. Upon reaching, the café was rather full luckily I manage to get a table otherwise would have need to queue up at the door front.

A glance of the drink menu, Messed Up Family is consist of 4 different flavours- The Father, The Mother, The Son and The Daughter. I have randomly picked 3 out of 4 flavours available.Messed Up Family
The Father RM18.90 – Chocolate with Peanut Butter. I was impressed by the presentation of the drink. It was so adorable. The cute little bear cookies been glued on the glass using peanut butter. You will find other condiment as well such as caramel popcorn, marshmallows, chocolate biscuit and topped with lots of cream further drizzled with chocolate sauce. Wow, what’s a sinful drink I have.

Another twist from The Father, The Cousin RM18.90- Salted Caramel with Brownies.
The Cousin was topped with Pretzel Biscuits, 3 layers of Brownie sandwich with thick creams as well as chocolate thick sauce. This is a challenge to finish these 3 layers of brownie. Anyway, just prepare to enjoy the sweetness and richness of the drink.

Perfecto Joyful White Chocolate RM19.90, full with Perfecto Caramel Pop Corn with 2 layers of Brownie topped with thick cream and cookies crumbs. I enjoy munching the Popcorn while savouring the white chocolate milk shake. I love the brownie it was very tasty and soft. First time having brownie with thick cream which usually paired with Vanila Ice Cream instead. LOLX.

Myself to be greedy, I have topped up one more coffee- Garage Latte RM10 to end the sweetness of the above drinks. Anyhow, the coffee is good.

Supper time OK Feb 05, 2016

Categories : Malaysian variety | Café | Noodles | Halal | Nasi Lemak

Somewhat having the urge to drink coffee for supper, the weather is hot at night. I need somewhere with air-conditioned. Oldtown has crossed my mind at that of point of time. I drove to the nearest branch and have a quick order for my food and beverage.

The outlet was a bit quite around this hour, quite a surprise. Anyhow, a cup White Coffee is a must for me if I dine here. The sweetness is just right for me.

Besides that, I have ordered a bowl of Curry Noodle, this is not the first time having it but for it was quite some time ago. I opted for Mee Hoon rather than Yellow Mee. The Noodle was served hot, they were Long Bean, Beancurd, roasted chicken slices and Fu Juk standard ingredients. The curry soup was medium spicy which is acceptable to me. Overall I would rate this as average bowl of Curry Noodle.

I would never expect myself to order Fish & Chip at Oldtown. Suddenly feel like having something to munch with. However, the presentation of the Fried Fish was not perfect as what you can see from the picture. It was not that crispy that I expected and the taste of fish was very bland, I will need to dip with Chilli Sauce. I have no comment on the fries as it was an ordinary fries. I felt a bit regretted to order this. Well, never try never know.

Verdict, still the White Coffee and Butter & Kaya Toast the best! It is a bit high risk try other menu.

Specia sauce Chee Cheong Fun OK Oct 17, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Yong Tau Fu

This is one of the "Hot" stall in Imbi Wet Market selling Chee Cheong Fun. You will see a queue most of the time. Im early today, only 2
customers are ahead from me. Without wait much longer, my Chee Cheong Fun is ready.
I wanted to eat Sister Popiah as well, which located next stall. Therefore, I only picked few of my favourite such as Fish ball, Meatball, Yao Char Gui and Chee Cheong Fun. There are 3 types of sauces available here and Bean Curd sauce is the signature here follow by chilli sauce and curry. I opt for curry sauce this time.

The Chee Cheong Fun (RM6.50)portion is quite huge, please take note of this if you are a small eater also you can choose to have half portion as well. The Chee Cheong is smooth and thick which goes well with my curry sauce. I love the You Char Gui which still crispy outside soft inside. The curry sauce is getting thicker swiftly. Therefore, please finish as soon as you can.
The overall food is good, you can try the freshly stuffed Yong Tou Fu which prepare it daily.
