Best Lap Mei Fan in town Smile Feb 05, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

I never heard of this restaurant before. I came to know this through my friend sharing about the “Best Lap Mei Fan” in town about a year ago. Therefore, I have decided to pay a visit to Elegant Inn to try the Lap Mei Fan this time. The restaurant is located at Level 2 of Menara Hap Seng KL.
I have arrived at 7.30PM and the restaurant was very crowded therefore I was escorted to a private room which I have booked a week earlier. In fact, I pre-ordered the dishes one day in advance as well. Then I just sit and wait for my dish to be served patiently.

As usual, Yee Sang (RM7.50) was the first dish to serve. The Yee Sang was given a nice name “Bountiful Harvest Salmon Losang” per their menu. The ingredient they use was different to other restaurant like what you can see from the picture. In short, it was extraordinary and tasty Yee Sang.

Next, Golden Boneless Stuffed Chicken with Chicken Tomato Salad (RM98.00). To me, this is a special dish. The fish paste was layered under the chicken skin then pan fried it to achieve the crispiness of it. You will find the Tomato Salad been placed as a side dish which they are using balsamic vinegar to tossed it. Indeed a tasty and good combination though.

Double Boiled Lion's Mane Mushroom Soup 猴头菇(RM168) , this was highly recommended by the Restaurant Captain which only available during Chinese New Year and limited supply per day. The highlight of the soup is the mushroom they cooked is rare in Malaysia. The first sip was really impressed me, it was light and sweet. The Captain emphasize that it is MSG free. Frankly speaking, this is really worth a try. Thanks for the recommendation.

Signature Golden Fried King Spare Ribs (RM26.80 per piece), I enjoy eating pork ribs and I have ordered this to satisfy my taste bud. The ribs were crispy outside and tender inside. It was well marinated and deep fried into golden brown colour. Another thumb up!

EI Signature Stir Fried Bitter Melon with Salted Vegetables (RM32.80), my friend has order this vegetable as she said is hard available out there. The bitter melon was full of ”Wok Hee” and it goes with the Salted Vegetable. This is the first time I had this. Great job!
(Ops...busy eating, forgot to take picture)

Lastly, Claypot Rice with Sausage & Waxed Meats (RM116.60), I have been waiting for this to serve. I like the way to cook the rice, first the rice was sauce-free. They are using the waxed meat oil to toss the rice. It was so fragrance and the rice chewy too. I believe they are using both glutinous rice and jasmine rice to cook it there you can feel the texture of it. I can say the best Lap Mei Fan I ever tried thus far.

To end my meal, I have ordered some dessert which also recommended by the Captain.
Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball in Fresh Almond Cream (RM14.80), usually most of the restaurant will be using frozen Glutinous Rice Ball to cook the dessert. However, this dessert was made to order. They made from scratch from Glutinous Rice Ball as well as the Almond Cream. The Almond Cream was thick and cream, luckily is not too sweet.

EI Steamed Custard Cake (RM19.20), first time tried this. They pan fried the Custard Cake then drizzle with coconut cream. I love this very much. The custard cake was soft and tasty.

Pan Fried Traditional Rice Cake & Hazelnuts Cookies (RM19.20), this dessert is only available during Chinese New Year. The Rice Cake was not too sweet and soft. If you like the Hazelnut Cookies, you can purchase it from the restaurant and is available for sale.

Lastly, Japanese Pumpkin Cream (RM16.80), thick, creamy and smooth.

To conclude, I enjoy eating at this restaurant. The service was good. Foods are fantastic too even though the price is on the high side, I definitely will come back again for more.

Delicious Chinese Cuisine Smile Mar 24, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Yes, it was my friend Birthday dinner, we wanted to organize a Birthday bash for her in the café. However, she preferred to have it in the Chinese Restaurant instead. To be exact, she likes to eat Chinese food.

I have booked room and set dinner for 12 pax specially for her Birthday. The Chinese set menu is similar to Chinese New Year set or Wedding set. We were served 2 plates of peanut upon arrival. Luckily all of us are punctual therefore we can start our dinner on time.
Braised Shark Fin Soup with Crab Meat, I love this soup very much. The soup was sweet with generous amount of crab meat. Indeed tasty.

Roasted Crispy Suckling Pig in Hong Kong style, one of my favourite dish. The skin was very crispy, it has good aroma of five spices powder.

Steamed Estuary Fish Fillet with Beancurd stick and black fungus, the fish sauce was very sweet as it has all the fish essence in it. The fish fillet is a bit thick for me anyway.

Pan Fried Tiger Prawns with Butter Floss, one of my favourite too. This is because I like the way they cook. The prawn size was big, it has very good aroma of buttery flavour and the skin was very crispy too.

Stir fried Seasonable Vegetable, simple and full of wok hei vegetable.

Glutinous Rice with waxed meat, this is also my favourite. The taste is just on my liking.

The set menu comes with 2 types of desserts- Mochi in Red bean paste filling & Steamed Lotus Bao and Chilled Pamelo Tea with Aloe Vera. I forgot to take picture as I am too busy eating.

Apart from the above set menu, I have ordered from ala carte menu the Double Boiled Soup (RM28). I can’t recall what is the name of the soup, in fact I have booked this soup 3 days in advance. Just in case it was sold out. The soup was sweet and tasty too.

My additional order- Signature Pork Ribs (RM64), well marinated, flavourful and crispy too. To those who like to eat pork ribs, please order this.

Stir Fried baby French Bean (RM38)

Verdict, I was very happy with the food and service provided. I definitely will be back again especially the soup. Some additional information, the set menu was charged only RM898++. This is consider very reasonable this is because to those set comes with Roasted pig will be easily priced RM1k & above. This is worth a visit!

Beautiful sandwich! Smile Aug 31, 2015

Categories : French | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches

This cafe has been so "hot" in the Facebook recently. Lots of peoples have been sharing and check-in at the restaurant. For me, I bookmarked in my to-do-list since day one. Four months pass and still unable to tick it. However, today here comes my turn to explore the foods by chance.
This Cafe is located at Jalan Kelang Lama facing the Wisma Elken, the signboard is visible and prominent.

This cafe occupied 3 floors of the shop lots and pretty spacious. First floor is bread and pastry section, is meant for take away or alternatively you can dine at the same floor. Second and third floor are the dining area segregate to smoking or non-smoking section.
I was seated at second floor as the third floor was closed during my visit. I like the ambience here was very cosy and suitable for weekend hang out.
The menu was placed at the holder on every table.I have decided to try their signature sandwich and spaghetti today. I'm a coffee lover, looking for some new creation from the menu, here I spotted Rose Latte RM12.50.
Upon serving, you will see a layer of light pink liquid at the bottom. I guest must be the infuse rose syrup which you need to give it a stir. First sip, you will taste the light fragrant of rose flavour. Cool...is good indeed.

Sandwich was served together with garden salad and french fries. I just love the presentation of the sandwich as it is looks like a pieces of art on the first sight. They come in four different variants.

A closed up to see the layers of the sandwich, the bottom is the pastry crust as the foundation follow by tuna spread, egg toast and lettuce.

My favourite pasta- Linguine Aglio Olio RM17.00. It is a plain linguine without any add-on option such as Seafood, Mushroom or Chicken breast either. Taste wise is fine, just a little bit more spicy than usual, anyway you can choose spicy or non-spicy.

I love the enviroment here, best place for tea. I definitely will be back again to try other pastry and coffee especially the Lavendar Latte. Also, the Waffles too.

Quality breakfast and coffee Smile Jun 20, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

This is my favourite cafe when comes to breakfast and coffee. They serve good coffee and quality food. Yes, this is a non-halal restaurant. Usually this cafe will pack with foreign patrons during breakfast time, even lunch and dinner. Upon entering to this cafe, you will get to see a large black wall on your right which filled with words written using chalks. hmhm.,.. that is the menu. Antipodean does not provide any printed menu but everything have been clearly written on the wall. To me personally I find it a bit troublesome when comes to food ordering. Most of time they will be diners sitting beside the wall therefore you are unable to read the bottom part of the menu. To save this hassle, I will choose to order the top part of the menu.
This time, I have ordered myself Bagel with Bacon and Egg.

This is my third time having this dish. The taste was fantastic. I just love the texture of the bagel, soft and fragant couple with pork bacon and two sunny side up yet complement with greens, balsamic vinegar dressing drizzled on top to enhance the flavour.

Coffee is a MUST for breakfast. I had a cup of Cappuccino. The coffee is really good with beautiful coffee art on top.

My friend had ordered All Day Breakfast RM22. Is quite a big portion for breakfast which consist of scramble egg, bake bean, grilled tomato, or choice of Bacon, Chicken/ Beef/ Pork sausage. She opt for pork sausage.

Next, Big Breakfast RM22. As it named- Big, almost similar to All Day Breakfast, just a replacement of grilled tomato and bake bean to Harsh Brown and Button Mushroom. The Harsh Brown is not the ordinary that we used to eat at McDonald or other cafe. It claimed that it is housemade uses fresh potato and herbs. Not deep fried but pan fried. hmhm....sounds healthy though.

Spending per head: Approximately RM35(早餐)

Noodles Smile Jun 28, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

I happen to be around at Kuchai Lama area and am looking for restaurant for lunch. I wanted to eat noodle today, spotted this restaurant offering dumpling which is my favourite. I stepped in without any hesitation.
I love to eat dumpling very much, thus Dumpling noodle will be my order today. There are choices of dry or soup, I opt for dry version. According to the lady boss, all ingredients are housemade. Housemade noodle, slightly thicker than Ramen, has very good texture. Came in 4 pieces of dumpling, right amount of filling and it is juicy too. You must try the housemade chilli sauce, just like Pan Mee chilli. Spicy and pungent which goes well with the noodle. This is delicious.

My friend whom ordered the Curry Noodle, commented the noodle was okay only.
