Oily food Cry Feb 29, 2016

This is my first visit to Landon Coffee as I’m looking for café for lunch with air-conditioned in a hot afternoon. The café is rather quite around this hour, they are limited tables here and you will see a bread section having promotion at RM1 per bun. What’s a good deal!

To my surprise, their lunch menu is really limited, I can even say Spaghetti, Fried rice and Chicken Chop full stop of course the beverage menu. I wonder how can they survive with this kind of menu. Without much choice, I have order Chicken Chop which claimed this is their signature dish. Moreover, I have ordered their signature Coffee as well.

After waited for 10mins, my coffee is served. Before I have my first sip, from the colour itself I can tell the coffee is very diluted. Bingo, yes, it was very diluted. No coffee strength at all, just taste like one cup plain hot water with 2 tablespoon of coffee added. Can you image that? Anyway, I had few sip then the rest just leave it as is.

Next, Chicken Chop, deep fried in golden brown colour. Well marinated however it was too oily as you will see excessive oil on the body. You will see there is a piece of cracker place below the Chicken Chop. I have no idea what is that, non crispy and chewy yet a bit burn at the edge. I dare not eat it. For the condiment, Charcoal bun was dried and hard, salad was just normal. Lastly is the sauce, brown sauce I guess.

I ate only 20% of the Chicken Chop, you can image how good is the food was. Completed disappointed.

Awful noodle Cry Feb 29, 2016

I believe Moonlight is not new to you. It has been so hot for past month. Lots of people have been sharing their food in Facebook especially the Durian Cake. I do not want to queue up for table therefore I have the patient to wait till the heat subsided.

Saturday morning, wondering where to have breakfast today, suddenly Moonlight has crossed my mind. Let’s go! Moonlight occupied 2 floors of the corner lot, Ground floor is the bakery and first floor is the dining area.I proceed to first floor and have a quick order. Perhaps it is early in the morning, the café was a bit quite.

I have a cup of Café Latte RM10.50 to kick start my day. I prefer to go without sugar thus the Latte was tasted a bit bitter with strong strength of coffee. What’s a good cup of good coffee!

Next, here comes my main course Honey BBQ Grilled Chicken Noodle RM11.20. The presentation of the noodle does not appeal to me upon serving. When I first taste the noodle it was tasteless and it was barely warm. Moving on to BBQ Grilled Chicken, the chicken was dry and hard, taste of the sauce is quite weird to me. It was neither here nor there, honey or BBQ or oyster sauce. I unable to tell what was sauce like? In short, it was awful.

To wrap up the above experience, I would suggest you can come here for coffee only otherwise opt for other food. I even have take-away some buns, however the buns did not meet my expectation as well in term of taste and texture. Good luck!

Simple and delicious meal Smile Feb 25, 2016

You are right, I am the regular customer here. Proud to say, I almost tried half of the menu. I trying to order to different foods in every visit therefore I would not get bored eating the same food.

I would like to have western food today therefore I get myself Chicken meal named Escalope de Poulet (RM22.90), a French word. Basically, this is deep fried breaded chicken breast with tomato sauce spread lastly baked with cheese slice. Side dishes are blanch French Bean and fried wedges. It was very crispy when I first cut, chicken meat was very juicy and well marinated. I love the wedges, it seems like it was made of fresh potato rather than frozen wedges. The portion is consider huge for me as it’s very meaty, sharing would be good.

Fried Kuay Teow (RM10.90), this Char Kuey Teow was full of “Wok Hee”. Simple yet tasty, it was not oily at all.

I spotted next table has ordered Onion Ring which looks very appetizing. Hence, I want to have mine as well, sounds greedy. Onion Ring (RM5.90), it was made of fresh Bombay onion, well breaded deep fried in golden brown colour. It was nicely made using the fresh ingredient, as most of the restaurant using frozen onion ring rather than making the fresh one. Crispy outside yet preserve the original freshness of the onion.

What’s a satisfying meal I have! Enjoy!

I always enjoy dining at Alexis Bistro, their foods are never fail to impress me. Good food quality, good ambience and good service. But with all this good things happen of course associated with good price. Do you agree?

Coming back, spaghetti and pizza are in my top list when dining here.
Let’s start off with my appetizer, Soup of the day- Pumpkin soup, it was creamy, smooth with all the nutrient goodness in it. Best pair with Garlic Bread.

Fried wanton, consist 5 pieces in a plate with chili dip provided. Wanton is in Chicken mince meat filling, deep fried to golden brown colour, it was crispy of course the best snack ever.

Pesto Spaghetti , spaghetti was cooked all-dente, well tossed in Pesto sauce top with grated cheese and pine nuts. Simple main course yet very tasty.

Pollo Pizza (RM36.00), thin crust pizza base topping with shredded chicken, red and green capsicum baked with mozzarella cheese.

Hainanese Chicken Rice, aromatic rice with steamed chicken breast. I always have an impression that Alexis only excel in western food however, this Chicken Rice is really good.

They even serve a separate bowl of soup for Chicken Rice. The soup was tasty. I even request for second bowl with no extra charge.

I have Ginger Cake for my sweet ending, I did not have high expectation on this cake but the server has very high recommendation on this cake. Why not have a try then?! It was good, light gingery taste and Gula Melaka was very aromatic. Yes, indeed yummy!

Verdict, is worth a visit as the foods are good.

Beef noodle OK Feb 23, 2016

Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Noodles

I have no idea whether Tangkak Beef Noodle is very famous in Johor, looking at the press ad displayed in the shop, it seems yes. I had tried their beef noodle many years ago in Taman Maluri branch but eventually closed down.

Tangkak Beef Noodle has taken over Tai Lei Loi Kei Macau Pork Bun unit at Taman Segar nearby Leisure Mall. Parking is a challenge at this area, alternatively you can park inside Leisure Mall and walk over here. Today is a Saturday dinner time, the shop was quite only 3 tables are occupied.

There do not offer variety of the menu but main highlights are always the beef noodle. There are 2 sizes for you to choose from – Small or Large. I like to have a bowl of small mix beef noodle. Of course, I will go for Mee Hoon. If you prefer Lai Fun, yes is available here.

My Beef Noodle (RM11.90) consist of beef, stomach and tendon. The broth was thick and flavourful, full of beefy smell. Beef stomach and tendon were tender too. Piping hot soup really satisfy my stomach.

I want to drink something light, hence I would like to have a cup of Hot Lemon (RM3.20).

To those who are Beef Noodle lover, you may have it a try.
