I can sure that most of the Penangites are familiar with the hawkers stalls located along the Chulia Street, especially the famous Wanton Mee and Curry Mee. They open at night. But what I want to feature is the fried fritters stall, just located besides Wanton Mee stall.

They have only few choices: Yam Cake, Cha Siew Spring Roll, Radish Cake, Sesame cake (Red bean and Peanut) but everything is just worth trying. They are freshly made and selling fast.
Yam cake, Red bean sesame cake (long shape), Peanut sesame cake (round)

I love their sesame cakes with both fillings (red bean and peanut). They were not too oily and the fillings were not too sweet as well. I think their fried fritters are better than what I have in other dim sum places. Definitely you still can have more than one of these fried fritters after filling up your tummy with other hawker foods. They were just simply delicious.

It's quite hard to find dim sum in late night in Georgetown compared to day time. Most of the dim sum restaurants operate in the morning but this dim sum restaurant opens from 8pm till 4am. Definitely this is quite a good place to have dim sum supper when you crave for it.

They have a wide variety of dim sum for you to choose from and will help to heat it up on the spot and serve you hot. They have different choices of noodles in the menu as well.

We only selected two dim sums: prawn siew mai and prawn dumpling (har kau). They were tasted good especially the the filling prawn pieces inside were suprisingly big and crunchy.

Nothing special about the steamed buns (pau). We had sweet potato pau and tausa pau. They were tasted normal that you can buy it from any pau selling stall. But I think I will pay them second visit to try out their different dim sums.

Only opened at night, Huat Teong Lok Lok can be easily spotted when you pass by Jalan Terengganu Road. It is just located in front of the Fong Polyclinic and Singapore Polyclinic. The choices of lok lok and variety of sauces are not as many as lok lok stall in Pulau Tikus night market. But sometimes you can see the crowd standing around the stall enjoying lok lok would be getting larger in the late night.

I personally love their super spicy green chili sauce which stimulates the taste bud a lot. Though the choices are not many, I think this is quite a good place to go for lok lok.

DIY RM1.50 Asam Laksa Smile Aug 17, 2015

Balik Pulau has been well known for some local foods such as asam laksa, pau, and pasembur that can be found in the. But, there is only one stall serving DIY asam laksa, established by a Malay family.

This is the DIY laksa. It was just RM1 previouly but it has risen in price to RM1.50 due to the inflation of price for everything.

You can mix and match for all you want.  The soup is nice and there is no extra charge if you want to refill the laksa soup.

Spending per head: Approximately RM1.50

Having lunch at Fresh Fusion Asian Fusion Cafe branch located in Gurney Plaza. This little hut serves asian fusion cuisine from local to korea and western cuisines.

The portion was quite big, consisting cauliflowers, broccoli, baby corn, kimchi, beancurd and enoki mushrooms in the soup which I think one person cannot finish this. But, the soup was quite diluted and not rich in flavour. The taste was quite bland. If you are craving for korea kimchi soup or beancurd soup, this is not a good one.

Similarly, the amounts of ingredients were quite generous especially the chicken slices but the soup was not satisfying. The kimchi taste was not adequate enough.

The main course was served with a soup and two sides dishes such as boiled vegetables and fried tofu. The texture of pork was quite hard and the sesame sauce was oily. Not recommended.

Finally we had something better when we tried on this. Hilariously, the portion of the lemongrass chicken was quite small but it tasted good. It was deep fried chicken but not oily, balanced up by the fragrance and flavour of lemongrass. The overall of this was quite good and it could go very well with the plain rice.
Supplementary Information:
They charge on 10% of service charge and 6% of GST.
