Here comes the Awesome Canteen in Penang! Awesoon Canteen finally opened at Sekeping Victoria. Awesome Canteen is especially well known for their Paleo menu. They have different menu at different hours (mainly brunch, tea, and dinner). We visited during the tea time so not much on the menu.

Love their casual and relaxing atmosphere! All the furnitures, mismatched chairs, tables, tress somehow just blend in perfectly with the natural lights.

We opted their teas, Chocca-Roo-Brew (above) and Proper Peppermint (below). They were surprisingly good! They tasted quite simple in a way that I don't taste any "unnecessary" taste enhancers inside and at the same time, they tasted quite special and refreshing. I personally prefer Chocca-Roo-Brew which had a beautiful blend of the flavours of chocolate and coffee.

The shredded chicken breast and lasagna noodles layered with red sauce and topped with a great portion of melted chesse. It was good but quite pricey for a tea snack.

The well decorated De'Corner Kitchen, it is quite special cafe to me because they have offer western foods but their signature is Tomyam noodles. Hardly find tomyam noodles soup in a cafe right? They did not have western foods on the day we visited so we just tried on their signature dish, Tomyam noodles.

There are typical variety of noodles such as egg noodles, meehoon, instant noodles, glass noodles etc and they don't have rice or porridge.

Similar to the stalls selling tomyam noodles we can find in other places, different selections of ingredients are available for you to mix and match.

We were sitting outdoor on that day and sorry for the low quality photo. I was surprised when my order (the noodles and soup) were served separately. But it was alright for me because I prefer the texture of noodles not being too soft soaked in the soup. The tomyam soup was good to my liking but my friends were not fond of it. For me, the tomyam soup was rich in flavor and tasted quite spicy and sourish. I always like thick tomyam soup with rich flavour. =D I think plain water is a need after finishing one whole bowl. Haha.

Having lunch at Fresh Fusion Asian Fusion Cafe branch located in Gurney Plaza. This little hut serves asian fusion cuisine from local to korea and western cuisines.

The portion was quite big, consisting cauliflowers, broccoli, baby corn, kimchi, beancurd and enoki mushrooms in the soup which I think one person cannot finish this. But, the soup was quite diluted and not rich in flavour. The taste was quite bland. If you are craving for korea kimchi soup or beancurd soup, this is not a good one.

Similarly, the amounts of ingredients were quite generous especially the chicken slices but the soup was not satisfying. The kimchi taste was not adequate enough.

The main course was served with a soup and two sides dishes such as boiled vegetables and fried tofu. The texture of pork was quite hard and the sesame sauce was oily. Not recommended.

Finally we had something better when we tried on this. Hilariously, the portion of the lemongrass chicken was quite small but it tasted good. It was deep fried chicken but not oily, balanced up by the fragrance and flavour of lemongrass. The overall of this was quite good and it could go very well with the plain rice.

I had my first visit to Coffea Coffee when it was newly opened and their coffees were not impressing and expensive as well. But, this second visit was dissappointing as well.

Green Tea Latte. Ordered by my friend, she was not satisfied with this. I always agree that the taste is more important than the presentation. But, this no good latte without any coffee art was priced at RM 14.50 and this was too expensive. I think I can easily get a much better one at same price from any coffees shops or famous coffee franchies like Starbucks or CoffeeBean.

The first visit to have their coffee was dissappointing so I decided to try their chocolate beverage this time. Chocolate Chip Explosion sounded good but everything was wrong after my swig. It tasted so sweet and the milk flavour was too heavy until I barely tasted the chocolate taste. I think this would be my last time to have their beverage.

We went purposely to try out their economic set meals and the overall was good! Wallet friendly and affordable prices for it doesn't need you to spend a lot to have scrumptious "chu char". Four seasons tea house has another branch in Sunway Tunas. They serve "chu char", fried rice and fried noodles in ala carte as well.

There are two types of economic set meals that are only available during weekdays. The economic set meals (RM 30) serve 3 persons with one soup of the day, one tofu dish, one vegetable dish and one chicken dish. The only difference for another economic set meal (RM 36) is that you can substitute chicken dish with pork dish. Customers are allowed to choose different cooking styles for every type of dishes from the selected menu.

We didn't expect the portions served would be big but surprisingly the portions served for every dishes were big and I think it was more than enough to serve 3 persons.

Soup of the day which consisted potatoes, white radishes and carrots in flavorful broth.

We opted the basic one, stir fried hun chu heok with garlic. You can choose your vegetables and your favourite cooking styles such as sambal, oyster sauce, stir fried with garlic, etc. Then they will serve you the combination that you want.

The chickens were beautifully deep fried to crispy texture but not oily. The mango chicken was served over sour plum sauce, topped with mango and onions salads. The sauce gave extra flavour of sweet and sour to the chicken. It was tasted good and appetizing.

This tofu dish was delicious too. Crispy crust outside but soft texture inside. It tasted quite similar to the deep fried starter we usually have in combination platters when we attend any wedding dinner serving chinese cuisine.

First time having the sesame soybean. Not too sweet and it had a strong fragrance of sesame which blended quite well with soya bean. Nice try.
