PIES.  Smile Sep 10, 2015

My friends and I have heard great reviews about A Pie Thing, but never got a chance to visit because that isn't the area we are near each time we are out. So when we got together for a mini food adventure, this was on our list of places to try.

Though we were already quite full from an earlier dinner when we arrived, there was still room for desserts which is something we were eyeing on as we got there.

To no surprise that there were a lot of people as it was the weekend and it was a little over dinner time when we arrived. The queue started right outside the entrance as you have to place your order at the counter before taking a seat while you waited for your pies.

The savoury pies looked really good and to have it topped with your choice of mashed potatoes and/or peas, it was tempting. But our stomachs could only take so much and we only wanted to try their sweet pies.

The first pie we got was the Smores Chocolate pie. Though in my eyes it seems more like a tart than an actual pie, but semantics doesn't matter because it is all in the taste.

You get either a choice of milk or dark chocolate - we ordered the latter so that it wouldn't be overly sweet. This was literally one of my favourite desserts ever! The bruleed marshmallow on the top was meltingly soft and sweet, mixed with the bitter dark chocolate and crunch tart in one bite was heavenly. Definitely a must try!

Another dessert we ordered is on of their popular ones - it is the Nutella pie with Vanilla ice cream. Truth be told, Nutella is not exactly my favourite thing in the world even though it seems to be everyone's chosen spread. But I obliged my friends and agreed to this because it came with a scoop of ice cream which I enjoy.

Though when I tried a bite, I quite liked it because they somehow managed to make the Nutella taste more chocolatey & less of the hazelnut after-taste which I detested. Plus mixing the warm tart with cold ice cream was gooooood!

Need to be back to try the rest of their pies - savoury and sweet. :3

Supplementary Information:
Everything is made in-house. They use pie crust as a base rather than the conventional puff pastry.

Sandwich for Lunch Smile Sep 09, 2015   (Related Review)

It is becoming increasingly clear that BreadFruits is one of my top five places to go to for a meal. Doesn't matter if it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner, they will always satisfy my hunger.

So for lunch, that was where I head and lucky for me, their breakfast & sandwiches menu was still available. Something that I have had my eye on the past few times that I have visited in the evening - but they told me that this part of the menu ends after 2pm. If I remember correctly.

I heard good things about the Salmon & Avocado sandwich and was about to order that, until I saw another that caught my attention more. Plus it was labelled as a Bruschetta which appeals more to my appetite that day.

So I got the Tomatoes, Mushrooms & Cheese sandwich on top of Ciabatta bread. Only when it arrived, it wasn't as small as I thought. Plus they were very generous with the cheese so my entire bread was covered in melted what I assumed to be mozarella cheese.

They also top the sandwich with a handful of rocket leaves which I really like as it gives a nice added flavour.

THAI FOOD Smile Sep 07, 2015

After days of bugging my mom, she finally gave in and brought me to eat lunch at one of my favourite Thai restaurant!

As always my favourite drink to order is Thai Iced Tea. I just love the flavour of it compared to regular tea, plus the different kind of sweetener they use really makes this truly unique. For Rm10.90, I shared this with mom because it was a really big glass and I'd rather be chugging water than this anyway.

Then for dishes, we ordered two and one bowl of white rice to share.

First is Stir Fried Baby Kailan with Salted Fish - again, another one of our favourite veggies to order. Although it was good, I firmly believe that we can get better from a Chinese restaurant and perhaps even for a bigger portion for the price of Rm15.90.
SPICY AND SOUR

SPICY AND SOUR

And finally, my absolute favourite is the Steamed Siakap with Chillies, Garlic and Lime sauce. Not many places can get this dish as good as Absolute Thai can.

Every spoonful of sauce is like a big punch of spiciness and sourness. I can just drink the sauce without really even touching the fish, especially since they keep this metal plate lighted so the 'soup' will always be hot.

Though be warned, this is not for those that are not good with spicy food.

Back again Smile Feb 10, 2016

For quick lunch after dropping by the bank to run some errands, we decided to eat at KIP Seafood which was mom's favourite. I was just there because nobody wanted to eat banana leaf rice as I suggested.

This was a new addition and a definite must order whenever I see it. This is the traditional loh bak which is flavoured meat wrapped in bean curd sheets which will be deep fried to crispy perfection. Honestly this was nothing too great to shout about even though the meat was leaner than most places, only thing is the flavour was lacking.

By my request, we ordered this stir-fried potato leaves with brinjal in bean paste sauce. Oddly enough it came with several pieces of crisped up anchovies which I wasn't interested in. However this tasted really nice because of the salty sauce & softly braised brinjal which is my favourite.

The food here is rather weird in its flavour because the chef comes up with many different combinations. But all good so come here to give it a try!

Far drive  Smile Jan 29, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

With some free time over the weekend, mother decided to take a drive up to Semenyih for our favourite salt-fried chicken wings. It's kind of crazy to think that we'd go so far just to have some good food in between spending some quality time with family. But often times we do for adventures sake.

THESE FRIED CHICKEN WINGS WERE THE BOMB. Crispy on the outside and super flavourful from the seasonings that were tossed over them after they come out of the fryer. Then, they also toss in lots of garlic, chopped chillies and spring onion. I can eat so many of these in one go.

And because this is my favourite, we also ordered a yam basked with pork meat. The yam was really yummy but I didn't really care too much about the filling cause it was too sweet for me. Though everyone else really liked it.

We also ordered a steamed fsh with simple soya sauce & some sliced ginger. The fish was fresh so there was no mushy bits of meat and the sauce that it came with was good too. However there really isn't much to shout about.

If you are in the area then definitely pay this restaurant a visit if not just for the chicken. Trust me, you won't regret it
