I have heard pretty good review about Coco Steamboat from a few friends, especially the one that lives in Taman Desa. No surprise that the place was quite busy when we arrived for dinner over the weekend and we had to wait for a while before getting a table. But the smaller the pax then it's a little easier to get a table. Immediately we got down to ordering and it would be stupid of us to not try their famous pork bone soup base. The soup was a milky colour rather than clear and one spoonful packs a big punch of flavour, probably from it bieng boiled for very long hours. However be aware that they charge an extra Rm20 or 30 when you do order this soup.For quick and easy food, just order the sets which are already prepared. It consists of some seafood, fishballs and other usual steamboat kind of ingredients. Nothing overly fancy however there is the option to add on different things too at an added price. Like pork slices which I liked even though it is a little expensive for those slices of meat. It does tastes good when lightly cooked in the soup then dipped in the many kinds of sauces that is provided.Now let's talk about the different kinds of chilli sauces, there are some that are just regular and then there's the really gragrant & spicy one. They're all good in their own way especially when different kinds of things are dipped into it. The green one, take a little bit then mix it with a spoonful of soup just makes things super exciting.

I don't know whether the steamboat is as good as everyone says it is. Even though I quite enjoyed dining there, I don't think I'd go all the way to Coco with the crowd unless I'm nearby and it's convenient. 

There was one day where all I could think about throughout the entire day was salted egg yol crab. Coincidentally my mom was in a good mood and was at the office, so she decided to go to Pantai Seafood for some good crab. Its her favourite place for seafood and I rarely had a preference, all I wanted was my salted egg yol laden crab. A favourite of my mom's is the stir-fried bee hoon. Actually it is quite good because there's very good 'wok-hei' in this dish plus a lot of ingredients in it too. We also got two portions of steamed tiger prawns. This is something I enjoy a lot because the crustaceans were alive just moments ago and then taken from the tank, then cooked to our liking. So this means the prawns are super fresh, juicy and succulent. A clear way to tell if it's fresh is when you eat the head and it tastes really good, something I enjoyed more than actually having the flesh. Finally our order of crab arrived. So the kind we got at Pantai Seafood isn't exactly big in size however it was very fresh as the meat was tender and very sweet, seperates easily from the shell too. I had such a good time devouring this dish down to the very last bits of salted egg yolk. Everyone loved this and was tempted to order another dish of it but we were already full by then.

One evening, my mom decided to bring us out for a treat and she brought us to Loong Foong that is well-known for their seafood. Also rather exurbent price for a regular tai chow place but yet is filled to the brim with customers, especially on the weekends. So be prepared to be sitting amongst a huge crowd and waiting quite a while for your food to arrive. For starters we got the cheese baked prawns which we AMAZING. It's half a prawn each person because one whole one would be far too cloying and filling for a single person.

The prawn is pretty large in size, stuffed with lots of cream & cheese before baking until the top is nicely golden brown. This tasted sinfully good which I enjoyed and finished up within a minute. Everyone else liked it too and ate it all up before it even got a chance to get cold. As always with my family, we always have to order claypot braised pork belly with salted fish. This has to be one of our favourite dishes and the one we ordered that night was pretty good. Not the best we've had so far but definitely better than a number of restaurants we have tried at. The flavour is there and there is some salted fish lurking about in the pot, however we prefer an extra punch of flavour. However that's my family's preference.Then of course, we also ordered steamed fish with sweet soya sauce. This was pretty amazing because the fish was nicely cooked, juicy and also very succulent which was perfectly complimented by the sweet sauce. The portion was pretty big for our table however, it is definitely more expensive than the price that we usually pay at our usual restaurants. Since we were in the mood to indulge, we also order this stewed seafood in pumpkin. I personally feel like the pumpkin was merely the medium to hold the dish and make the entire thing look interesting. With that being said however, this tasted pretty good because the sauce screamed decadence as it was thick and sweet with a hint of the seafood flavours that was braised in it. 

The ingredients that came with it were great. There was plenty of scallops which were pretty big in size, abalone slices that were firm to the bite and also other things that was screaming with luxury. Everyone at the table loved this dish and scooped up all of the sauce, not leaving anything behind. 

Safe to say we left the restaurant feeling very satisfied. However I am not very pleased by the service of the staff, which I guess is due to the amount of customers they had to tend to. Still it did put most of us in a bad mood, not that easily overlooked even if the food is good. 

This restaurant came recommended from a friend so we thought of trying it one night since we were around the area. We arrived a little after dinner time and to our surprise, there was quite a crowd there already. So we automatically assume that the food would be very good. 

However service was kind of bad - but I am giving them the benefit of a doubt since the crowd was rather overwhelming. Especially for a restaurant their size. But still, it took all of us five minutes each to catch a waiter's attention. When we finally got someone to take our order, we just speed ordered cause all of us were dying of hunger already.I specially ordered the Salted Egg fried Pumpkin. This dish is supposedly a favourite of mine bcause I've had it elsewhere and it's just super delicious, plus I can never say no to salted egg yolk anything. However it wasn't as good as I expected cause there was not much salted egg yolk flavour and the pumpkin was still hard, although mostly crispy on the outside from being deep fried. Everyone else liked it but personally was not really that good to me. Just for something to munch on before the actual food arrived, we got the chicken feet kerabu salad. It was just as one would expect it to be - cold, crunchy, spicy and sour. Though honestly there isn't much to shout about this dish except it was good enough to keep us sated before the food arrived. Then finally the main dish arrived and it was the bean paste steamed tilapia. My favourite way of having fresh fish is steamed and most of the time is with this seasoning. Although the first two dishes were only so-so, the fish was surprisingly good. The meat was nice & juicy especially the cheeks which I attacked before anyone else got the chance to.

Out of everything we tried from them, I liked the fish the most and would happily go back just to have it again. However I will consider that only because of the crowd & somewhat subpar service. 

A colleague have been giving rather amazing reviews to this establishment and decided to bring us there for lunch one day. Despite it being a work day and late in the afternoon, there were still quite a number of tables filled. Mosftly people in working clothes and maybe one or two families. Apparently a pretty popular order is their tao fu stir fried with mushrooms. This I really liked because the sauce tasted really good while the bean curd was nice and soft, with a nice juicy crunch from the mushrooms. Though I wish this came in a larger portion considering that there was quite a few of us at the table. Something that came highly highly recommended is the Big Prawns Sang Har Noodles. At first I was a little skeptical because the seafood that we're often served is always small and not super fresh. But at Green View, the prawns were really huge and super succulent where the meat peels right off the shell, a clear sign that it is indeed fresh. 

The noodles were nicely crisp at first and perfectly al dente when it has soaked up all the yummy sauce. I had second helpings of this. We also ordered the Kam Heong Crabs which was also pretty big in size. This also tasted pretty good and flavourful without being overly spicy. The crab meat was nice and juicy also, especially at the pincers. Though I had plenty of the leg portion as the meat there is more tender and flavourful. As always no meal is properly complete without some vegetables. They only have a selected amount of choices when it comes to greens so we picked the Cheng Loong Choy stir-fried with garlic. It was alright but nothing too much to shout about and like always, slightly on the oily side. 

The bill came up to quite high because of the two seafood dishes. But if there's a need to try some good seafood and have the money to splurge, give this place a try. :3
