Lovely macarons Smile Aug 15, 2012   (Related Review)

The Orange macaron tasted of very strong, sweet, citrus-y flavours, and is quite a normal, safe choice. I wouldn't really pick Orange again seeing as how there are so many interesting flavours to try. Not my favourite from Babycakes Sweet Shoppe.

The Green Tea was another story altogether! Much like the Black Sesame, every bite was filled with the flavourful scent of musky green tea. The macaron filling was also thick and had the right level of sugar, because the green tea wasn't overly saccharine here. My mouth is watering even when I think of it. Try if you're a matcha fan!

Red Velvet Macaron Smile Aug 15, 2012   (Related Review)

The Red Velvet macaron was delicious! The macaron shells were crisp on the outside and had soft, crumbly insides; good texture overall and not so sweet. The filling however, was dense and sweet, a lovely mixture of thick nutella & sweet cream cheese filling. This was definitely my favourite of the lot. I would go to G Tower, just to buy this one here.

The Pistachio in the background (which was the most expensive) left a lot to be desired. It was sweet but very bland, as we didn't taste any of that familiar richness of the pistachio nut that we've come to expect of pistachio-flavoured desserts.

Black Sesame a winner! Smile Aug 15, 2012

The Black Sesame was a favourite of mine and Adam's. The flavours of this macaron were very rich and distinct with very strong earthy tastes of black sesame and a slight hint of peanut. Every bit of this had to be savoured. Black Sesame was one flavour which I think we wished we had bought two.

Chocolate Daddy was another winner (can't go wrong with chocolate, can you?)...each bite, was pure chocolate heaven! The thick chocolate filling tasted smooth and velvety, and wasn't too sweet either. The macaron shells are also had a great texture to them despite being kept in the fridge for one day prior to eating.

This picture is the Red Curry Duck Confit Noodles (RM 13.90). It's a bit hard to see the duck but you can vaguely make out the drumstick doused in curry sauce. This dish came highly recommended by the waiter so we decided to give it a go. Nothing prepared us for what came out though!

There was a whole crispy duck leg and that tasted very nicely marinated and quite tender. The curry sauce that came with it also tasted very aromatic and full of spices, leading to a flavour that accompanied the earthy flavours of the duck well. But we weren't prepared for the black charcoal noodles! Although it looked very unique, in the end it really just tasted just like regular yee mee.

We did find the lychees quite strange though. We tried very hard to like it, and despite duck and lychee being a very common recipe combination, we finally just decided duck and lychee AND curry don't really make a good combination.

Thumbs down Cry Aug 15, 2012   (Related Review)

First up is the Hazelnut Bar (RM 3.45). It was a bit dry and tough, but the hazelnut flavour was present and noticeable so I'll pass this off as tasting acceptable. It was glazed with sugar outside so the pastry had a nice tinge of sweetness to it. The hazelnut filling could have been more refined though, we found that the hazelnut paste was not smooth enough.

Next up we have the Mushroom Strudel (RM 4.75). The fililng was sparse here, but the pastry tasted better than the Hazelnut Bar as it was softer and more airy. The filling tasted quite average though accompanied with the smoky flavour of the sesame seeds. Though better than the Hazelnut Bar, there's still room for lots of improvement.
