Many people might not know this, but I'm actually a Japanese food enthusiast. Yes, including the raw sushi, minus the wasabi
Today, let me introduce you to a Japanese buffet which you can get for <RM50, which is a steal, in my humble opinion. Maiu is a branch from the original Damansara outlet.
place is packed!!
My friend and I came at 6pm on the dot, and was the first. We reached early because we did not make a reservation. As you can see, by 6.30pm 7pm -ish, the place was fully packed! Therefore, do make a reservation if you wanna go, especially in a group...
Wall deco
The interior design, with bottles of sake displayed on the wall. The menu has a variety of stuff, but if I'm not mistaken sake has to be ordered separately.
sashimi!!
We got down to ordering stuff, and apart from the green tea, sashimi was definitely on the list. Unlike some places I've been to, sashimi is unlimited, and they have a selection of salmon (my fav!), tuna, octopus etc. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and I kept ordering more
fried tempura
Kakiage(if I'm not mistaken, thats what fried stuff is called). Or is it tempura Nontheless, a variety of fried vegetable with the accompanying sauce. Crispy, tasty.
sushi!
Assorted sushi! California roll etc. The sushi roll was just nice, each constituting a bite that triggers the happiness sensors. Ah sushi heaven~
handrolls and fried tofu
Temaki (handrolls), and fried tofu. The fried tofu is super delicious. They even have fillings in the middle of the tofu, which was soft inside and crispy outside. You should also try ordering their fried soft shell crab, which was also awesome!
wasabi and green tea ice cream
Green tea and wasabi ice cream. I warn you, the wasabi ice-cream tastes just like wasabi!! minus the stingy sensation that saturates your nose. But it has the wasabi aftertaste. So if you like wasabi (and even if you don't), you should try it at least once...
double chocolate happiness
As for the traditional ones, chocolate ice cream is also available to please your ice-cream cravings. Again, ice- cream is unlimited. You just have to keep on ordering
overall bill was around RM44/pax or so after tax, which is pretty reasonable given the quality. If you're a fan of jap buffets, its worth a try. It may not have as many choices as jogoya etc, but the quality of the food is equal, if not better.
Recommended Dish(es):
fried soft shell crab maki, fried tofu
