lotus root soup Smile Dec 31, 2013   (Related Review)

the lotus root soup is boiled using pork ribs
that is the reason for the soup to be so sweet and the broth so clear
i find that there is too much pork in it, i would rather it has more lotus roots
the lotus roots are cooked through till it is soft but not soggy so there is still a crunch in them
it also has red dates in it which makes it so much more healthier to drink
the only concern i have is that the soup is served in a bowl that is chipped and looks old

double boiled soup Smile Dec 31, 2013

although the main dish is claypot but these owners know that it is important to have a complete and healthy meal
so they also included soups in their menu and depending on what are the ingredients they can range from RM5 to RM7
the first soup i ordered was the salted vege soup, it had big chunks of white tofu in it
what i liked about this soup is that the broth is very clear
apparently because they use pork instead of chicken to make the soup
it is not overly salty either, so they must have treated the salted vegetable before they boiled the soup

the all day breakfast Smile Dec 30, 2013

the all day breakfast and big breakfast differ from one another is that the all day breakfast has baked beans and the big breakfast has sauteed mushrooms instead
the all day breakfast also comes with a side of scrambled eggs, bacon, piece of toast and a slice of grilled tomato
the bacon at antipodean is not fried till it is golden brown and crispy
instead it is just turned a few times on the pan and then served so that you can enjoy it as it is

this place truly lives to its australian heritage
all the portions here are humongous
take this croissant for example, it is so huge that you can share it with another person
the crossaint is spilt into two so make it easy to plate the rocket leaves, followed by scrambled eggs and topping it off with bacon
the crossaint was still hot and crispy but after half way through it started to get soggy under the moisture of the eggs and oil from the bacon

i think the owner is really smart to open his cafe at bangsar
because not many people can afford a big breakfast that costs RM22, but the affluent people who lives in Bangsar can
the big breakfast, you have a choice of bacon or sausages. but the waiter told me i can have pork or bacon. so my next question was, wasn't the bacon made of pork?
he was so lazy he wouldn't even complete his sentence to say miss would you like pork sausages or bacon.
i choose bacon hands down
it comes also with a slice of buttered bread, scrambled eggs and stir fried button mushrooms
