Mukashi Special Ramen [RM24]

Mukashi Special Ramen [RM24]

The first time I had Mukashi special ramen, I liked it very much but this time, I hate it to the core. The flavor was similar; the pork bone soup as base made it very flavorful and intense and I liked it still, the egg was slightly overcooked. BUT that thick and fat and smelly bamboo soup screwed up the whole bowl of ramen. Even my soup was heavily stained by it and I nearly abandoned my ramen. If you dislike bamboo shoot, please OPT OUT for that for their bamboo shoot consistency was very low. The last I had it did not give me such disgusted experience but this time it just throlled me with it.

Radish Cake [RM3.20]

Radish Cake [RM3.20]

Radish cake could take both extreme, either it is bitter and fiberish, or it is smooth and flavorful. This was between both. The smoothness was there, perhaps due to higher ratio of flour to radish. Instead of being flavorful, it was bland and almost tasteless, apart from minimal saltiness. Without any sauce, I don't think it would be anywhere close to 'boleh lah". So I left most of it for my bf to finish.

Fried Yam [RM5.50]

Fried Yam [RM5.50]

After perusing the vegetable section in the menu, we decided on fried yam for it sounded like a good addition. In my mind I was expecting something like yam layered by crispy batter of flour but what was served was yam with almost no batter, which I believe it was the reason for the lack of crispiness. The outer layer was slightly hardened, while the inside was like yam fries, non mash like. I did not enjoy the texture very much.
Jasmine Tea [RM1.50 per pax]

Jasmine Tea [RM1.50 per pax]

The tea here was cheaper than all the drinks except filtered water. We ordered for two but ended up we were too full from whacking the bottomless signature pork bone soup and care less for the jasmine tea. My advice is just save the drinks for some other day smile

Ice Beancurd [RM7.80]

Ice Beancurd [RM7.80]

I appreciated the idea of the dish but then it left us with one question, are we supposed to eat it with the ice or let the ice melt in the soup? After experiencing the "helpfulness" of their staff, I did not bother to even ask them question which most likely they wouldn't know the answer. We threw it into the soup and let the ice dissolved.

The texture of beancurd was very layerish and airy but then it felt rough and I had to put up a fight to eat it. Not such a good experience. Plus there was almost no flavor in it. Eating it with the signature pork bone broth did not help. Perhaps you can try with chilis. This was one of the promo items where you can get it at cheaper price (RM3 if I am not mistaken), which my bf decided to order it. It was quite a disappointment; the texture resembled sotong ball (which I dislike) and the lobster seemed artificial.

Mocha Marble Cheese Cake [RM9.90]

Mocha Marble Cheese Cake [RM9.90]

Oh, Marble Cheesecake, who made you so dry? In terms of texture, I could taste the heavy texture of cheese in it but the two things which definitely can be improved is the moisture in the cheese and the thickness of the crumb layer. Personally I like my crumb base thick and crispy, just like eating freshly made cookies. Perhaps they can put in some nuts into the crumb base. Overall, the flavor was decent, just not the right texture.
