Bak Kut Teh Smile Jul 20, 2012

Bah Kut Teh

My better half, Janice's hometown is in Sungai Bakap, and everytime I'm there, we never fail to drop by this Soon Peng Bah Kut Teh

The meat was really tender, when eaten with the vegetables, meatballs and soup, I actually smacked my lips in satisfaction. I don't like it when the soup tastes watered down or too salty, and this bowl of Bah Kut Teh soup was just perfect with some really nice fragrant. All these for a price of only RM29, inclusive of the rice and kueh.

Steamed Fish Head OK Jul 20, 2012   (Related Review)

Personally, I don't really fancy having the fish head and would prefer the body portion as fish heads don't have much meat to begin with. But the dish was nice, simple yet tasted good as the fish was fresh. Janice did comment that the sauce that came in this dish had the perfect combination of garlic, soy sauce and ginger, giving out a really nice taste. Go for this dish, as I heard it it one of their signature dishes as well.

White Carrot Soup OK Jul 20, 2012   (Related Review)

White Carrot Soup

Fancy some good healthy and wholesome soup? then go for their white carrot soup. Inside it consists of white carot, carrots, and lots of pork meat. The meat itself doesn't have much fats, which complemented the taste perfectly. The soup had a slight peppery taste to it, boiled together with the meat and white carrot. After being boiled for so long, the white carrot itself had this really soft texture.

Sweet and Sour "Heh Kor Bak" - Mantis Prawn

I really liked the "heh kor bak", it was really fragrant with the right amount of crispiness. It's actually deep fried mantis shrimp cooked with sweet and sour sauce, with ample onions to bring out the flavour. Served on a bed of lettuce, this had to be one of my favourite chinese cuisine dishes. The serving size was enough for at least 3 diners, coupled with the other good dishes here, it does satisfy.

Sizzling Mixed Vegetable with Seafood with Egg

Tai Mah Restaurant is a typical coffee shop styled chinese restaurants serving simple chinese cuisine. We were there to dine a couple of weeks back.

The Sizzling Mixed Vegetable with Seafood with Egg dish was rather unique. Wrapped in fried egg was a myriad of mixed vegetables from green peas, to mushrooms and green vegetables. The sauce was sort of like a ginger sauce. Included inside were prawns, and cuttle fish to add to the taste. Personally, I didn't like the fact that this dish was too watery.
