First in Melaka OK Dec 09, 2013
Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hotpot | BBQ

I remember having this few times in a row within a week and I stood by what I said about finding this fascinating and challenging to tackle the right way to actually properly grill or BBQ the BBQ ingredients. The first outlet opened in Melaka and since the thrill is still pretty fascinating to me, I went ahead with sister just for the fun of it. This time around, I ordered the BBQ house set for 2 comprising of almost everything.

I am obviously thrilled with the meat slices. I love how the slices are nicely sliced to the correct thickness. Also when the essence of all the ingredients flow to the rim of the hot plate, the water mixing all this essence become amazing and flavourful soup. And the vegetables add lots of sweetness to the soup although I would actually appreciate more soup in it. But because the rim is so shallow, there is not much space to actually accumulate that much soup.

Also, the mystery to how the slice of meat often sticks to the hot plate is affirmed to be due to hot plate being not hot enough and not greasy enough. We ask for butter this time, and it gave us entirely a different experience. The jasmine tea and herbal jelly was nothing which stands out to shine on the menu, but it was sufficient thirst quencher when spending so much time in front of the burning hot plate.

Decent dim sum  OK Dec 09, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung

This so called restaurant is located within the food court itself . In case if anyone gets confuse, they kind of occupies the end of this food court and operates only in the morning with the dimsum steaming stove placed like any hawker booth and patrons would normally sit right about at this corner of the food court for these dimsum owner to come with their cart of assorted dimsum. And because this is a food court, one is still allowed to order food from other stalls and still be seated at this corner of the food court. The dimsums were pretty decent, I did not get to try a lot of it, but would definitely return for more when I revisit them again. It wasn't fantastic in taste, but the ambiance and the very friendly and easy going people and ambiance vouched to welcome customers return

Mc grill OK Oct 06, 2013
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches | Halal

Like many other Mc Donald outlet, this one also serves with commitment and passion. In Malaysia, not only is McDonald’s a part of every child’s fondest memories, they are often linked to happiness and joy where children smiles and families spend their fun time. And don’t forget their popular tagline “good time, great taste, at McDonald’s” which I cannot agree more to that without taking into the considerations of the free calories that comes with it. That didn’t stop me from lovin them. Today, they move from hamburgers to caffeine while setting up a couple of Mc Café stores in some of the chains. I fancy the Mc Café booths in the Mc Ds cause I feel that it serves healthier range of light bites, as well as suitable and tasty dessert. Here in the Mc D mahkota parade, which is one of the few earlier outlets in Melaka since the earlier times, I tried the new Mc D grill. Somewhat still far from the grill chicken fold over but still is something new and fancy.

If you are looking for assortment of local food and authentic local dishes, the newton food court is one of the best of the many food courts in Melaka in terms of availability of varieties. value of money wise can be rather subjective and dependent on what is being ordered. The range is wide, from assortment of rice to noodles, and congee to seafood. Some of the widest range you can think of from braising to deep frying, and boiling to grilling. You name it and they probably have it. There is fried rice and noodles, rice and ala carte dishes, porridges, and assorted noodles like char kuey tiau, hokkien mee, wan tan mee, hor fun and many more. Grill fish is a must when travelling Melaka or when hunting for Melaka food. Portuguese grill fishes here are the closest to authentic Portuguese style, so chances are really high that the grill fish stall is everywhere in any hawker center or food court you can possibly find. Instead of the usual Portuguese grill fish, I decided to go with the fried cincaru which caught my attention when I see many people ordering it. Turns out, the only great thing about this is the freshness of the fish. The frying is really ordinary but the fish was remarkably fresh and juicy.

Ochado drinks and crepe slice OK Sep 16, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Café | Stall / Warung | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

Melaka is popular and probably well known for the tourism and the jonker street. The Ochado is making a comfy position to be located at the Jonker street itself.

The love for milk tea but disliking the pearls would mean that the solution is either omitting the pearls or having the ochado pop eggs. The coffee pop bubble gave the bursting kick of coffee sensation on top of smooth and mild milk tea.

I also tried the aloe vera honey tea which honestly did not impress me much. Tasted pretty ordinary and underwhelming given there are so much other choices that are so much tastier and more exotic and unique of its kind.

There are so many out there and the pioneer chatime which brand it so well and big in Malaysia already is probably their foremost first competitor. My favourite is definitely the matcha green tea. Mildly sweet and slightly bitterly refreshing, the addition of ice to this drink is almost close to fabulous. Since the first trial of the mango mille crepe cake in kepong branch, I decided to order again and try it one more time because the first trial did not quite do them justice. This time around, I tried the chocolate mille crepe. Slightly better than the first but I would love to explore more on my next visit.
