Rekindle, SS2! Rekindle is located at the same row as Babyland & Baker's Cottage. Its unique signboard with a fire element makes it easy for all to spot. I've passed by this cafe numerous times when I came to SS2 for dinner but I never had the chance to try it out because it was always packed to the brim, or I was there with my parents whom are not really keen on having caffeine at night.

Step into Rekindle and it was love at first sight. The rustic interior was simply charming. Red bricks walls with poloroid photos hanging over the walls, mismatched furnitures such as garden bench x sewing machine tables, tall wooden chairs & tables paired up with vintage & antiques decorations like the old bike leaning on the counter.

The selection of cakes at Rekindle was impressive! The range of cakes available was really extensive, and all of them looks really good.

Upside Down RM15
Nutella-coated cup, downed with milk, and further topped with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream...
This was DA BOMB. Words can't describe my love towards this drink. Oh boy. The rich, thick, sinful nutella, mixed with the milk & smooth ice-cream...one have to try this to truly understand how great this drink was. A must-try! Although it might get a little too cloying if one were to finish this own his own.

A new coffee place!  Smile Jan 27, 2014

Last week, I received an invitation to Cosans Coffee's coffee & food tasting event. Finally, a blogger event that is held conveniently in my own "base", SS15 Subang Jaya! Just a convenient 5 minute drive from my house (:

Cosan Coffee! A new coffee place in the ever so happening SS15. Cosans Coffee is located at one of the busiest street of SS15- that is the row facing the pasar (same row as Crayon Burger)
As I pushed the glass door open, I was greeted enthusiastically by Cosans Coffee's warm staffs. I was instantly mesmerized by Cosans Coffee's interior as I set my foot into that place. The dim lighting, cushioned chairs, oak tables & wall emits a romantic & cosy feel. The place is decorated like a wooden cabin in the woods, as it felt really quaint and homey inside.

Cosans serves up an array of beverages, ranging from caffeinated hot & cold drinks, frappe, chocolate, yogurt smoothie & even sodas!

There's two types of beans patrons can choose from in Cosan Coffee, that is Equarre, which has a nutty & bitter body, and Carreau, which tasted more acidic & fruity.
The food menu on the other hand is still quite limited for the time being, but just nice to satisfy those little hunger pangs with their range of sandwiches, salad & soups.

Like most cafes, Cosans Coffee practices the self-service culture where patrons have to make their order & payment at the counter. The friendly Cosans staffs behind the counter were all smiles when I made my order- the hospitality there was just lovely!

Hazelnut Latte Regular RM11; Large RM13
Yes, Cosans have the cutest Coffee Art! Taste wise, the Hazelnut Latte has a smooth body, and a sweetness that was just nice for my liking (:

Mocha Regular RM12; Large RM14
Smooth, silky body, and an aromatic & rich dark chocolate taste, simply my type of Mocha (: Like the Hazelnut Latte, the sweetness was just nice because dark chocolate was used.

Caramel Frappe Regular RM14; Large RM16
Food & Lifestyle Blogger Carmen Hong said that she enjoyed this drink a lot despite not being a coffee lover, so I assume that it was good? lol

Coffee & Cakes Smile Jan 22, 2014

Standing Theory, another new cafe in town. Located in the obscure area of SS2, we had to waze our way there, into the less traveled commercial lots located amid the residential area. Thought that the cafe will be less crowded but I was wrong- The whole cafe was buzzing with activities when we reached, a really good sign for a cafe in such a secluded area.

The menu was fairly simple, handwritten on the chalkboard hanging on the wall behind the counter. For now, Standing Theory only serves drinks, cakes & light meals such as Banh Mi (Vietnamese Baguette) and Chili Con Carne, but they will be launching a dinner menu soon lol

The environment at Standing Theory was simple & minimal. Dark, grey wall, wooden furniture, with contrasting blue & orange chairs, light bulbs hanging in the air emitting a warm orange light. It gives me a calming & relaxing vibes.

A one-of-a-kind communal table.

Fruity White Tea RM7
Boyfriend's order. According to him it was nice & fruity.

Red Velvet Cake
Was battling between waffles or cake but we went for cakes instead, as planned initially (Guan Ren even suggested BOTH. The waffles really seemed tempting as it is topped with Fat Baby Ice-Cream, Bacons, Banana & Cornflakes! Next visit perhaps).
The red velvet cake was soft, moist & fluffy. It tasted not too sweet, just nice for my liking. Paired up with the smooth cream cheese layer, one bite and I'm sold. However, I would prefer Upstairs Cafe's Red Velvet Cake due to its moisture texture. The one in Standing Theory wasn't the best I've tried, but definitely one of the best in town =)

Cappuccino RM10
The cappuccino served here, is how I would define a cup of a good cappuccino. No further elaboration needed. Served alongside with a sweet chocolate chip cookie to strike a balance in taste. Heavenly.

Burgers Burgers Burgers Smile Jan 22, 2014

Another new burger joint in town

Once we set our foot into Burger Factory we were greeted warmly by the staffs clad in black tees. I really loved the warm & simple interior of Burger Factory. White-washed furniture, with a touch of barnyard-style design- It made me feel homey & welcomed.

Took me quite some time to decide on which burger to go for. The dazzling array of burgers served at Burger Factory really seemed so tempting! Beef burger, chicken burger, vegan burger....and also seafood burger!
And despite being a Burger Factory, Burger Factory does not only churns out burgers from their "factory", but also western & Asian delights such as pastas, Japanese pizzas, fried rice & so on! But since the Burger Factory is called, Burger Factory, we decided to go for what they specializes in- BURGERS.

Our orders took a while to arrive as there was quite a crowd during lunch hour. When the waiter served us, he handed us 2 sets of cutlery. We understood why as he placed the burger in front of us.

Americano (Set) RM18.80
Grilled Beef Patty, Cheddar Cheese, Sunny Side Up, Gherkin, & Fry Sauce
The size of the burger is huge! Much bigger than my burgerlab's , Big Chomp's & Burgertory's! Was really pleased as I was really starving (but at the same time, felt lazy as I prefer using my hands to eat a burger)
How did the taste fare?
Beef patties were juicy & flavourful. The fry sauce was creamy & delightful, yet not cloying at all. Burger bun soft & fluffy. Loved the fact that they serve curly fries instead of the usual french fries.
The only complain I had was the curly fries was tad salty & the beef patties crumbled apart- Another big mess created lol

Marine Tales (ala carte) RM15.90
Double Sunny Side Up, Prawn Chunks, Fish Fillet, Double Grilled Pineapples, Caramelized Onions & Fry Sauce
I got the seafood burger as I never tried/heard of it before so I decided to give it a go.

AH-MEH-ZHINGG
The burgers at Burger Factory definitely exceeded my expectation.
Flavours were really well-balanced. The ingredients just came together perfectly. The double grilled pineapples, especially, tasted so juicy & sweet. Onions were perfectly caramelized, fry sauce compliments the fish fillets & prawns perfectly- this burger is perfect.

Another thing about Burger Factory's burger, is that it made us feel less guilty after we consumed it. Not sure why, but it definitely did not felt greasy nor cloying at all. And the amount of veggie inside the burgers was really generous too!

burgers! Smile Jan 22, 2014

Ahhhhh Burgers. I could never get sick of em. I am a burger junkie, ever since I took my first bite off my burgerlab burger in September 2012. Ever since then, I always have random cravings for burgers during the oddest hour. But please, no MCD's burger, please. I have only tried MCD burger twice in my life so far and that figure will stay for my entire life. I cannot accept the dry, coarse burger buns, teeny patty (which, rumour has it that it is only 30% real meat and 70% fillers) with the signature "smell" that all MCD food has.

I love homemade patties. Juicy homemade patties. Topped with the freshest ingredients, and homemade condiments, paired up with a fresh out of the oven fluffy burger bun. And thanks to the Burger Boom Klang Valley is now facing, we don't need to head on to TGIF for a decent burger anymore. And being a burger fangirl, I'd like to try out most of the burger joints & point out the best of the best :b

So I was ecstatic when I found out that Fat Boys Burger Bar opened a new branch at One City, a new shopping mall near to my house.

Fat Boy, a burger bar originated from Singapore. Fat Boy is one of the longest standing burger place in the Klang Valley. One of the trend starter for the current burger boom, I'd say. The main branch of Fat Boy is located at foodie playground Publika. I have been to the Publika branch once quite a while ago and as far as I can remember I was really satisfied with my dining experience there.

The interior of Fat Boys was sleek & modern- Black tables, with contrasting red chairs. The wall is plastered with a cartoon-ish black & white wallpaper which gives the restaurant a playful & vibrant vibe.

The menu. There's FIVE (5) types of patties available, beef, pork, lamb, chicken & even vegan!
Price may seem stepper compared to the other burgers counterpart because the burgers at Fat Boys comes with a side of fries & salad.

Don't really fancy the combination? Build your own burger then! lol You can go for 10 different sauces, or even a bun-less burger!

Soup of the Day RM8
According to the waiter, it was vegetable soup.
I know, I know- why on earth would someone want to order a soup in a burger bar? Was feeling "healthy" on that night so yeah... Thought that it would be fresh, hearty vegetable puree soup with the hefty price tag but turns out I was wrong. Lesson learnt.

Smashed Potato RM5
The potatoes were truly smashed, and it hit the right spot. Smooth, velvety texture, that gives you a melt-in-the-mouth sensation. The gravy was your usual maggie gravy though.

Wimpy (Pork) RM19
Single Pork Patty melted with Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, Fried Eggs, slathered with Fat Boy's homemade BBQ sauce in between a sesame bun. Served with a side of salad and jumbo sized fries. What I loved about Fat Boy's burger, is that they separated the salad from the burger lol

One bite, and the juiciness of the burger patty come bursting out. The smoky taste of the grilled burger, savoury cheese, wholesome bacon & fried eggs comes together so perfectly. Paired up with the fluffy sesame bun, I gave my stamp of approval. However, I thought that the BBQ sauce tasted quite normal though. I would enjoy the burger more if a unique twist of sauce is added.
The fries, on the other hand, were rather tasteless and mediocre because it wasn't seasoned.

Overall, I was rather satisfied with Fat Boys' burger, but wished that the fries & the side dishes as well as condiments could be improved.. But the main star attraction at Fat Boys is the burgers so all's good (Y).

Spending per head: Approximately RM20
