Tofu Fa OK Aug 27, 2012
Categories : Restaurant | Desserts

I like Tofu Fa and I always buy from hawker stalls. I seldom order in a dessert shop as the price is high. However, I ordered Tofu Fa with Almond porridge (RM5) this time as I went in at around 11+pm, I didn't want to take a high sweetness dessert which could stimulate my mind to be excited.

The almond porridge tasted well and smooth but the tofu fa was too dilute in flavour and texture. It was too soft. Well, it's not worth to eat tofu fa in a dessert shop if it is not their signature dish.

Organic ~~ OK Aug 27, 2012

I have been looking forward to visit Greenlicious for a long time as there are a lot of good reviews from friends and bloggers. Thanks to my vegetarian colleague brought me there to have a dinner after finish working.

I like the atmosphere of Greenlicious. It’s a nice place to have a gathering with friends or a simple candle-light dinner with your beloved. The staffs were helpful in providing us details about their dishes, as there are non-vegetarian dishes served, which my friend could not take.

We ordered their signature dish – Fruit Salad as our appetizer. I ordered Indonesian Fried Rice while my friend ordered Curry Laksa.

The Fruit Salad consisted of few pieces of bite-size dragon fruits, papaya, mangoes, bananas; topped with dried cranberries and pea shoot sprout; and drizzled with yogurt dressings with chia seeds. The dressing was refreshing and we wished to have more!

My Indonesian Fried Rice consisted of Fried Rice with petai in shrimp paste, fried egg, fried organic chicken, salad and tapioca chips. The fried rice was oily and not fluffy (a bit mushy), fried egg was overcooked. Overall, I did not enjoy my dish at all.

As my friend unable to tolerate well with spicy food, she felt that the Curry Laksa was spicy to her and the consistency of the soup is too thick which decreased her appetite.

Though I did not enjoy my main dish, I will visit again to try their Lei Cha – another signature dish.

Recommended Dish(es):  Fruit Salad

Spending per head: Approximately RM25(晚餐)

Ipoh Food OK Aug 07, 2012

Heard about this restaurant from friends and known that this is the only restaurant serving Chee Cheong Fun with mushroom gravy which can only be found in Ipoh!

I am not a fan of Chee Cheong Fun, but I will only take Chee Cheong Fun with mushroom gravy or curry pig's skin.

Although their signature dish was WanTon Noodle, but I purposely went to have Chee Cheong Fun with mushroom gravy. The 2-shop restaurant was full with people, we have to wait for the seats. The staffs were friendly to get us the seats and orders were taken quickly (self-ordered and passed the order chit to them).

Happy to see the Chee Cheong Fun came in mushroom gravy, RM4.20. But the taste was awful to me! The gravy was too sweet (I guessed too much oyster sauce) and oily. Too little minced meat in the gravy. I missed the Chee Cheong Fun in Ipoh!

I ordered the mix glutinous rice, sweet (with kaya) and salty, RM3.50. I prefered sweet glutinous rice than the oily, fried shallot-fragrant salty glutinous rice.

My brother didn't order their signature dish even I strongly recommended to him. He chose Minced meat Dry Loh See Fun, RM4.50. This one was tastier than mine, just a little bit salty. The Loh See Fun was tender and the meat balls were spongy.

Korean Cuisine OK Aug 07, 2012

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Food court

It's been a couple of weeks I didn't take spicy food. The first hot food came to my mind when I looking for food in the food court was Korean food. I like Korean spicy food because they are not oily as in Malay or Chinese food.

I ordered Tofu Seafood Soup which came with rice and a small portion of BanChan (Steamed potatoes & Pickled radish). Since the staff told me that the soup was a little spicy, I requested them to make extra spicy for me. They were friendly to make it though there were a lot of orders.

The soup quite disappointed me. It was not spicy at all and very oily! All the Chinese cabbage and zucchini were covered completely with chili oil. There were only 4 clams inside, not worth to be named as seafood soup, some more the clams were overcooked! The only ingredient I like the most was Tofu! It was smooth and soy-flavoured, like eating Tofu Fah.

My brother ordered Bibim Bap with chicken. This one was very tasty especially the sauce! The generous portion of sesame seeds when tossed with rice and vegetables in the hot stone bowl gave a nicer flavour. The chicken slices were well marinated and cooked to tender. I will go for this when I visit here again next time!

Matcha Snow Ice OK May 27, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Restaurant | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato

It was a hot day and we were craving for some cold and icy drinks. ABC? Cendol? No no, everybody goes to the Taiwanese desserts nowadays.

Finally I chose this café as they had the Matcha ice which sounds cooling and refreshing. We ordered Matcha ice with 3 toppings (MYR 6.00): Grass jelly, peanut glutinous dumpling and aloe vera; and Lemon Ai Yu with yoghurt pearls (MYR 4.50).

The Matcha ice was smooth and flavorful. But it was sweetened by the condensed milk that drizzled on top. I should request them to serve the condensed milk separately. The toppings were nothing special as they were from the packaged food.
Bad!

Bad!

The ice for the Lemon Ai Yu was not as smooth as the Matcha ice. The lemon jelly and lemon syrup were not lemonade enough for me as I only tasted sweet rather than sour. Yeah, desserts are always sweet. I didn’t like the yoghurt peals at all simply because the creaminess burst out from the pearls was disgusting.
