Egg Tart Smile Feb 19, 2013   (Related Review)

Egg Tart

This egg tart would be much more common than its other peers variety. With similar non-fluffy pastry skin and smooth yellow egg custard embedded in the middle, it still make a decent snack. However, it’s bit too dry to me and I find myself enjoying the durian tarts more for its acrid flavor of the fruit. Thus, it may overpower the egg tarts in this way, hehe.

Yummy Durian Tart

These durian tarts are very nice indeed, albeit the look might suggest the other way, hehe. Thanks to my brother, who happen to be somewhere nearby Karak, bought this delicacies in ushering the new lunar year of 2013smile For those who not a big fan of this King of Fruit product, fret not as it isn’t as pungent as the fruit itself, I would say it’s milder then. Nevertheless, the tarts were awesome with the creamy durian filling just melt in you mouth the moment you sink your teeth onto it. The pastry skin itself is of solid version which complements well with the gooey durian custard, and not too floury. No wonder it’s their signature product lol

Full Moon Pastry  Smile Nov 29, 2012

This cake house has been here quite some time since my childhood time. During that time, we often patronized the shop for some delicious cake for birthday celebration, hehe.

Now that it has even ventured into delivery for special occasion, in this case, Full Moon pastry. It comes in two varieties, red bean and also pandan paste.

The red one is with red bean filling. It was a bit sweet albeit its softness and the pastry skin was also bit thick. In contrary, the yellow pastry which came with green pandan filling, was fragrant and nice to eat. The level of sweetness was still acceptable and they are both fresh. At least something different from the modern way nowadays, where traditional touch is still appreciated tongue

Hari Hari Kopitiam Smile Oct 24, 2012

Kemaman is a small town located at the southern part of Terengganu. In fact, it’s much nearer to Kuantan, which is the state of Pahang, and is just an hour drive away. Even so, you may still find some delightful fusion dish offered by one of the local eatery such as Hari Hari Kopitiam. (literally means Everyday also Coffee Shop, haha)

Basically, this shop operates everyday except on Monday. It offers guests various delicacies ranging from local to western fusion. The cafeteria has an airy environment with minimal décor, which proves to be a hit among locals especially during the night and weekends.

The western menu includes the Black Pepper Chicken. I would say it’s more like a homey version. The chicken meat is juicy and succulent, along with the dark aromatic pepperish gravy. French fries are normal but got addictive when paired with the in house prepared dipping sauce.

If you fancy for some oriental cuisine, they do have options like Sweet and Sour Chicken, or Fish, if you preferred. For me, I always enjoy any fish dishes, hehe. Since the town is known to be near to the coast, naturally most of the seafood would arrive fresh. The fish filet itself was tender and soft, gently covered with the thick savory gravy. Texture was enriched with the crunchiness of the diced carrots and celery. Other than that, you could also ask for something soupy like stir-fried vegetables in gravy. For this menu, it’s bit plain and suitable for those who on diet. It’s bit starchy and resembles the usual ‘Wat Tan Hor” just that this came with rice instead.

And to clear the throat, Ice Tea would be the norm, but I beg to differ with other beverage such as gingko and ‘fu chuk’ dessertlol This dessert was really cooling and easy to the throat. There were also some barli added to it, with egg beaten as well, thus making it tad smooth as well.

Hokkaido Cakes OK Mar 31, 2014

Categories : Western variety | Sweets/Snack | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

Seems like various bakeries brand has sprung up recently, even East Coast region is not excluded.

While on the recent trip to East Coast Mall, bumped into these cutesy confectionary kiok that sold the famous Hokkaido Cake.
Chiffon-soft is the signature for such cake, but rather dry. Nonetheless, the cream is decently milky and not too cloying.
As for the Hokkaido Cream Puff, same velvet cream is used and the puff is rather much solid than the usual ones you try in KL.
But the Classic Choc Roll is the fairest amongst all. Soft and moist, delightfully pampering your palette. Best eaten after chilled lol
