Braving the sweltering heat in an afternoon, Don and I grabbed the opportunity to finally travel all the way to Kota Damansara for a cup of Ipoh White Coffee. It was my idea to bring him for a good shot, after having been there with my mum and eldest brother for not more than five times.

Although my mum claims it to be similar to Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong in Ipoh, I am not sure about the fact. No details of it could be found on the internet, or in the restaurant itself, including its business hours. Nevertheless, it is best to go for breakfast as they usually end their businesses in the early afternoon.

Their Iced Ipoh White Coffee may not be as thick as what Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong has to offer, but it's definitely smooth and just fine to quench our thirst in the hot weather. Almost instantly, I felt as if the time tunnel had brought us back to our great moments in Ipoh.

Since it was a lighter lunch for me, I ordered Crispy Popiah to share with my hungry man. Wrapped with a piece of soft, thin crepe, the Crispy Popiah was filled with different ingredients that I couldn't recognize any, with turnips acting as an important character in providing us with juicy texture of it. It is always best to be eaten entirely at one go!

By the way, the stall offers Seaweed Popiah as well.

Don had a bowl of Noodles with Dry Chicken Curry. The noodles were literally soaked in curry with thick gravy. It was a little too spicy for my liking, but I am sure it would be almost or beyond perfect for any spicy food lovers. I guess it would be great to bring my dad for my next visit to SYL Ipoh White Coffee Restaurant, so as to introduce such delicacy to him.

It's known as SYL Ipoh White Coffee Restaurant for a reason! If Egg Toast is popular in Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong, the one served at SYL Ipoh White Coffee Restaurant should never be missed. Poke the egg yolk with a fork, watch it flow on the toast, cut the toast into smaller pieces and eat it aggressively; are you drooling now?

I wouldn't say if SYL Ipoh White Coffee Restaurant could beat Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong or vice versa. If you are hoping to try out Ipoh White Coffee, yet you have no ample time to travel hours away from home for a cup of it, then beyond doubt, SYL Ipoh White Coffee Restaurant would be the perfect place for your craving. Remember that it is best to visit this restaurant before noon!

Since Thean Chun and Kedai Kopi Kong Heng are located right next to each other, which they are merely separated by an alley, it doesn't require you to look for an empty space for twice in a row. Get yourself settled at a table of either restaurant (if you have a company), move your ass to the stalls to place your order, and wait at your table until your food arrives. It's totally hassle-free! Definitely, do not try to be such an un-thoughtful person to be at Thean Chun when you are only eating food from Kedai Kopi Kong Heng.

We had a plate of Chee Cheong Fun at RM3. It was so-so. It's literally rice noodle commonly served at any Chinese restaurants. The only part that differs is the way the dish is prepared, depending on locations.

In Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine, many people prefer serving Chee Cheong Fun with a kind of black sweet sauce called tim zheong. It is likely a variation of hoisin sauce. The popular Penang version uses shrimp paste called hae ko, which is also black and sweet. In Ipoh, another food capital of Malaysia, Chee Cheong Fun is mainly served in two ways, the dry or wet version. In the "dry version", it is served with soy sauce, sesame seeds, fried shallots, onion oil and in most cases, chili sauce as well as pickled green chili. In the "wet version", it is served with curry and mushroom gravy, other than sesame seeds and fried shallots, giving it a rather distinctive Ipoh character. Chee Cheong Fun is a popular breakfast in Singapore and Malaysia, frequently served in coffee shops and Chinese restaurants. There is another kind of special Chee Cheong Fun from a small town, known as Teluk Intan or Teluk Anson. This typical Anson style Chee Cheong Fun is cooked with preserved turnips, minced pork, dried shrimps and fresh green shallots, and served with pickled green chilies. – Copied and edited from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_noodle_roll)

Apart from that, Caramel Custard from Thean Chun, or Crème Caramel if that's what you prefer, can never be missed! It's simply awesome and smoother than ever! According to some of the bloggers and websites, it's said their Caramel Custard will be sold out after 10am. However, it was still available during our visit, in a scorching hot afternoon, despite the crowds in and around the restaurant. With RM2.40, you can easily grab a bowl of it from their fridge; well, at least that's what we did. They were too busy to serve us.

My 2011 started off with nice foods at Lot 10 Hutong Heritage Food Village, a place that is similarly to any food courts, but with complicated arrangement that you might get lost inside. It's a place where different kinds of Chinese foods can be easily found, such as Fish Head Noodles, Pan Mee, Bak Kut Teh, and many more.

Don had something called 三拼饭, which was actually Chicken Rice with three types of meats. There were two types of pork, known as Siew Yok and Char Siew respectively, and Roasted Duck. Frankly, the Char Siew was extremely delicious without too much fat. It cost him around RM14.00 per plate.

I ordered a bowl of Noodles with Ricewine and Chicken. After eating a few mouthful of it, I personally thought that my grandma cooks the best of it indeed, because the smell would be way stronger than that of what I had in Lot 10 Hutong Heritage Food Village. But, I enjoyed the spiciness of the soup caused by the ginger inside even though I never like to eat ginger.

I am still looking forward to another day trip to Lot 10 Hutong Heritage Food Village even though I dislike the crowd in there. I am still yet to try out the other foods available within the small place!

If you have never heard of Steven's Corner, it is now the moment for you to have an overview about this famous spot for people, especially youngsters, to hang out in the midnight. Read the articles here (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.415759338358.193647.714713358&type=3)!

I usually visit Steven's Corner when I stay overnight at Don's house, which also means I rarely drop by the restaurant. Yet, I will always be sure to return for their Roti Telur Cheese without having to go through their menu to try something else. It is literally Roti Canai, a type of Indian-influenced flat bread famous in Malaysia, filled with egg and cheese, giving you a springy flavor as you chew a mouthful of it. Om nom nom!

Don preferred to have something heavier that night, as he was in hunger. Thus, he ordered Cheese Naan. For your information, naan is quite similar to Roti Canai, but they don't look the same. Naan is a leavened, oven-baked flat bread usually cooked in a tandoor, whereas Roti Canai is often flattened, oiled, folded, and fried on a pan. Needless to say, Don's Cheese Naan was just as finger licking good as it seems from the picture above.

Every dinner at Steven's Corner that I had was extremely sinful indeed, for the amount of oil I had consumed and the fact that I tended to go to bed before digestion. I was never brought to the restaurant during the day! Albeit so, I would highly recommend you to order Roti Telur Cheese should you drop by Steven's Corner at OUG, Old Klang Road one day. It's definitely worth a try!

Iced Peach Tea and Orange Juice. There's nothing special about the drinks, except that they are slightly too expensive that they should be. The Iced Peach Tea was RM4.50, and the Orange Juice was RM5.00.

Anchovies Poached Egg Spaghetti with Chicken. It was a plate of pasta with crushed peppers, cooked together with olive oil and chili, and topped with a poached egg. I requested for one without anchovies because I never like anchovies. Definitely, just like many other dishes available in the cafe, you can choose between chicken and beef. Because of the generous amount of chili added by the chef, halfway through enjoying my meal, my sweat was close to dripping from my cheeks.

Chicken Spallopini Pasta. My boyfriend, Don, and I thought that it was slightly too salty for our liking. Don is always a person who prefers stronger flavor than I do, so you can pretty much imagine it based on your preferences. Despite so, Don enjoyed his meal that night, perhaps due to the special environment and the unusually huge portion.

Surprisingly, the services of the cafe of the night was much better compared to my previous visit (http://my.openrice.com/klangvalley/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=39759), although the food served was yet to be improved.
