It wasn't my first visit to Matsuba Japanese Restaurant at Syopz, a building in the campus that offers a unique blend of retail and food and beverages outlets. Matsuba Japanese Restaurant seems to be one of the best available places in the campus among the other 23 outlets, which explains my return for lunch together with my friend, Kah Mun.

As usual, I ordered a Tamago Maki as snack, although my meal was filling enough. It wasn't as good as a sushi. It was nothing compared to those sold in Sakae Sushi or Rakuzen. It was slightly too pricy at RM2.50 per box per six pieces. It was just something more affordable that solved my craving.

Nuff said.

If I'm not mistaken, I was attacked by sore throat then. Instead of killing myself with a bowl of Chicken Katsu Don, I ordered Oyako Don at RM12.90, which the chicken was never fried, and mushrooms were added, topped with an egg that did not act as perfectly as an icing on a cake but still better than none.

For a person who never likes sashimi like me, I personally think that Matsuba Japanese Restaurant does not have a wide selection of food. I have been to this restaurant for no less than five times in total, and to date, my orders were always between Chicken Katsu Don and Oyako Don. Their Curry Rice is recommended too, if you are fine with curry with zero spiciness.

Hm.

Nothing could be more suitable and filling than a plate of Mixed Rice as a quick and affordable meal. You could always choose the amount of rice you would like to have, and pick your most preferred dishes at a relatively lower cost than any other cafes and restaurants. The time consumed is no longer worried. Hence, Don and I would sometimes have our lunch dates at 126 Mixed Rice Restaurant, and he's still visiting this restaurant very frequently for its wide selection of delicious dishes.

On this particular Saturday, both of us got ourselves a plate of Mixed Rice each, with similar dishes, including vegetables and a generous amount of Hakka Braised Pork with Black Fungus. I added a Hard-boiled Egg in Sambal for myself because it was simply too tempting. These cost us less than RM10.00 in total, with free flow of plain water and Chinese Tea, with or without ice depending on your own preference.

To date, I have only visited this restaurant for three times. It was never crowded despite the many tables they have. In terms of dishes, their vegetables were pretty ordinary. Nevertheless, as a person who is very particular about pork meat, I would highly recommend their Hakka Braised Pork with Black Fungus, because the meat was extremely soft and tender, although quite fattening. It could be a good place to fill up your stomach, especially when you're on a tight budget.

I'm sure I will return to the same place again!

Back in the days, Secret Recipe was a high-end cafe generally used for birthday celebrations, gatherings, anniversaries, and any other special occasions teenagers will often remember. Time flies. It's been more than three years since I last visited this particular outlet at Mutiara Complex, Jalan Ipoh, together with Don.

Iced Cappuccino served at this outlet wasn't something anyone of you would ever prefer. It was tasteless, despite adding all the syrup provided by the staff.

His Ice Blended Mocha Espresso didn't taste as bad as my Iced Cappuccino, but it was just pretty ordinary compared to a cup of coffee you could always find elsewhere.

Looking at this photo always makes me drool. It was my Prawn Macaroni with Cheese, cooked together with generous amount of mushrooms and chewy prawns, slightly more than enough for my stomach. Sooo filling, sooo creamy, and sooo good!

Besides, I have always loved their Chicken Cordon Bleu, rolled together with ham and tender chicken meat, with cheese flowing out as you cut it through. Until today, although I have not stepped into any Secret Recipe outlets for years, I am still yet to find a restaurant that could make their Chicken Cordon Bleu in such a similar way.

Give it a try! lol

I don't usually go to Mid Valley Megamall, but when I do, it's because of IT Fair! It's true. I never like or prefer to visit this huge shopping center for its terrible traffic during weekends. I finally made up my mind, however, to go on the 9th of March just to fill up my stomach with good yet expensive food and get myself a portable drive from the fair. Don agreed too. How I wish online shopping is always trustworthy.

Our empty stomachs started to rumble upon arrival until we decided to settle down at Paddington House of Pancakes to give it a try.

With such a cozy cafe, I was expecting some better services, or at the very least, a simple greeting should be done by the staffs. Here at Paddington House of Pancakes, we received none. We were noticed only after we sat down. Despite so, being a cafe operated by non-Malaysians during our visit, I found it quite okay when I realized that they were quite knowledgeable about the food available.

As usual, Don and I shared a cup of drink to avoid being uncomfortably bloated. To be adventurous, we ordered Peanut Butter and Banana Shake. We thought that it was good, even though I would prefer it to be served without solid peanuts, and to be slightly smoother than it was.

Don had a plate of Club Burger, which it's one of the Pancake Burgers on the menu. The burger came with beef bacon, mushrooms, avocados, eggplants and tomatoes in between the pancakes, and some side dishes including mashed potato topped with mashed green pea, salad, and snacks. I can't comment on the burger as I don't eat beef, but the pancakes were really soft and great, not to mention the mushrooms.

Now I wonder how their sweet pancakes would taste like.

Aglio olio to me often comes with dried red chili flakes, my Sun-dried Tomato and Mushroom Aglio Olio at Paddington House of Pancakes, though, was different. I didn't notice the words, "sun-dried tomato", when I placed my order, until I ate the noodles. Frankly, I only fancied the mushrooms. It's regretful that I disliked the noodles fried with sun-dried tomatoes although I managed to finish my food.

I was slightly disappointed, partly due to my own carelessness, but I guess I would like to return again someday, perhaps another branch, for their desserts and pancakes. They're extremely tempting!

I have no idea why these days I am so addicted to one of the Thailand desserts, Khao Niaow Ma Muang, which is mango with sticky rice mixed with coconut milk. Hence, I dragged my boyfriend into this restaurant in Sunway Pyramid called Thai Thai just to eat it.

We ordered a fresh coconut to share with each other. smile

When our Khao Niaow Ma Muang was served, we starred at the plate for a few seconds before we got to give any response because of how small the portion was. It cost us RM9 when I could actually get about RM4 or RM5 at other places for a larger portion of better taste.

That was when I realized pictures can really be deceiving sometimes, if not most of the time.
