Been a fan of assam laksa especially the Penang version so decided to try the one in Penang Village. As in all assam laksa, it came with flaked mackerel. Other ingredients include lemongrass, lengkuas, chilli, mint, pineapple slices, thinly sliced onion and prawn paste. But I find their version a bit too watery and the soup was a tad too sourish, maybe they went wild with the use of tamarind. But I find their version a bit too watery and the soup was a tad too sourish, maybe they went wild with the use of tamarind. And the dish manages to look pathetic as the ingredients were drowned in the large bowl of soup. Somehow presentation does play a big part in food business although many dishes can be saved if it tasted great. I have had better assam laksa.
