A trip to Penang would not be complete without a dish of fried oyster! The nearest food court from where my hotel is at Super Tanker.They serve fried oyster, fried prawn and the combination of both. I first ordered the RM5 fried oyster. When it arrived, I was shocked by the massive amount of oysters they put in. Generous amount of fat, juicy oysters! The oysters were fried in typical Penang style of eggs + starch with spring onions. The dish turns out to be quite good, although I would prefer it to be slightly more cooked. The ratio of egg and starch was OK, but since it was a little too undercooked for my liking, the starch was a little too wet. The oysters were cooked perfectly as they were juicy and full of oyster aroma!
After finishing this dish, I proceeded to order another, as I was still hungry. This time I ordered the fried oyster and prawn. It was a little strange to see prawns cooked in the same dish as the oysters. When it arrived, I thought they've gotten my order wrong as I could not see any prawns. Upon further digging, only then I realise the prawns were all underneath the oyster. The dish was almost the same as the fried oysters itself. However, the prawns were quite big, and also cooked to perfection. It was springy and juicy! The best thing is, there is no need to peel the prawn shells! I will definitely order this the next time I come by Super Tanker. Great value for money fried oysters!
