I love Hakka food as it's part of my childhood memory, and I reckon food in Ying Ker Lou have the similar taste as mum's cooking, the authentic Hakka flavour! The Hakka style Yam Abacus is quite nice, the balance between the glutinous flour and yam paste is well done, chewy and nice to bite on. The dish is stir-fried with lots of mushroom and shrimps. Yummy! Lei Cha is basically a bowl of rice that topped with lots of different vegetables, beancurd and nuts. Very healthy! It is served with a bow

Lei Cha is basically a bowl of rice that topped with lots of different vegetables, beancurd and nuts. Very healthy! It is served with a bowl of 'tea', which has some tea leaves, sesame, peppermints etc blended in. I love to pour the tea over to the rice and eat (authentic way), but some people might not be able to accept the taste of tea, and choose to eat the rice with vegetables only. Your choice actually!

We also ordered the steamed minced pork. The dish is very well done. The right ratio of fatty meat and lean meat used makes the dish so great. Good job.
