Ma Po Taufu - soft from the inside hot on the outside. Best description for this dish.

Ma Po Steam Fish - Sauce made up from lots and lots of dried chillies and chilly oil, to make sure you'll get a hot-after-effect-kiss. Sauce was too hot for the fish? Bet not, surprisingly we still can taste the tenderness of fish meat (white on the inside). After 5 minutes, we just get used to that spiciness level and started to love this dish.

Stumbled upon this restaurant as we were looking for a place to have lunch. Immediately knew that it is a Chinese restaurant whom the owner is probably from China from the way the entrance to the staircase leading to the restaurant was decorated.

As we were just wanting to have a simple lunch, we shared a Yong Chow Fried Rice along with 2 other dishes. We had bittergourd cooked with salted egg and lamb with cumin.

The bittergourd came first and it was good, not overcooked. A simple dish, really. Then the lamb came. I am not one who would order lamb as I dread the gamey taste, but this dish really had me hooked on lamb. The lamb was cooked with some onions, garlic & spring onions - it was rather spicy but the taste was delicious.

The fried rice was rather unusual though. They fried it with carrots, cucumber (really!), spring onions and eggs. I thought I saw either ham or luncheon meat in the menu picture but we didn't see any when it came.

Lastly, we had strawberry flavoured goat's milk ice-cream. I have not seen this anywhere before, so decided to give it a try. My friend loved it but the goat's milk taste was just too strong for me.

I will probably be going there again, to try out the other dishes. They are very different from what is normally served in our local Chinese restaurant. Do bear in mind that the dishes that came were cooked in a lot of oil.
