what i ate for dinner after shopping with my mom. i ordered zha jiang la mian, which was the signature and classic noodles to eat in northern chinese-based resturants. i thought i should give this a try to compare with the one i ate at Din Tai Fung. the fried (pork) sauce noodles is particularly quite spicy. it also has a slight soya flavour after being mixed with the spring onions and shredded carrots, which add to its crunchiness. the noodles were very springy, although some might think its hard to chew but for me, i do quite liked it. if only they toned the spiciness down, it would be quite alright since i could only taste spicyness in it and nothing else. good for those who prefer spiciness over everything else.the environment in Dragon-I is like all other places, quite dark but bearable for family dinners. the staff were a little unwelcoming, though. chinese tea here are also refillable so its good to order just a few to share within your family continue reading

After a meal at Dragon-i, I could not stop myself from ordering the dessert. The glutinous rice ball (tong yuen) was served with ginger syrup. The ginger syrup was strong with ginger taste that give out the spiciness of a ginger, but it was sweet at the same time. The glutinous rice was soft and slightly sticky. The black sesame in it was blended well with slight bitterness. continue reading
