We landed at this restaurant upon recommendation of a Bangsar friend of ours. He invited us to go to Sam U Claypot (not to confuse with Sam Yu Chinese Restaurant) for hangout time. Parking was a bit of a hassle as it is a hotspot. We were lucky to found a spot right in front of the restaurant ( I deem it a miracle). However in usual cases, I reckon that visitors have to park further away and walk a distance. Decor was normal like an average chicken rice shop but somehow the place is crowded. Ou

Our dear friend called some of the dishes that is well known: -

A) Signature Pork Rib.

It puzzles me how is this dish their "signature" dish as the portion is small. In addition, the meat was TOUGH and hard to chew on. The sauce was just really average.

B) Claypot Asam Seafood Curry

It was OK. The ingredients was quite a handful though. The fish slices was not that tough and it was OK. However, I've tasted better and cheaper curries than this. And the portion is small as well.

C) Tung Po Meat

Meat was tough and the sauce is just mediocre. Really dissapointing. Even Esquire Kitchen wan taste better.

D) Kangkung Belacan (not in photo)

Standard fare. Nothing to shout about.

Overall, we think the food is fairly average and their portion is rather small. Some of our friends are still hungry after one round of dishes. The price itself is not reasonable as well...

For the hassle of getting here and getting a parking spot, this restaurant just will not cut it.

If you want to look for a better chinese cuisine, look no further at Tian Tian Lai Seafood Restaurant - It's larger portion and the price are reasonable...

I enjoyed visiting this restaurant as the food served here are good and the pricing is affordable. If you're uncertain what to order, their menu have loads of photos for you to make comparison. Recommended to try their village chicken. Tender and nice. Great to dip it with blended ginger and chillie. Bittergoard with salted eggs. Well cooked.Lastly, ginger fried fillet. Service is excellent, however if the place is packed it may take a while longer for the food to be serve.

Sam U Clay pot Restaurant is no longer a wonders for many PJ residents. The restaurant is simply located at the Jalan Tengah in PJ area where many banking industries had moved their steps thereFried Bean Curd with Assorted Egg- the Taufu was well deep fried and the taste is slightly salty. It is being cooked with 3 different eggs which include salted egg, century egg and chicken egg. The taufu is smooth in the inside and crispy in the outside.Taste: 5/5Price: RM 8.00

Gluttens we were, we ordered an additional dish of Bean Sprouts and chicken gizzards costing RM3.00 for each dish. Chinese Liu Bao tea was only RM0.60 a glass. All in, the bill came out to RM55.45 for three persons.
