SIGNATURE @ THE ROOF PRESENTS THE PURE AND INDULGENT FLORAL FLAVOURS OF PERRIER-JOUËT

With the Paired from two variations of Perrier-Jouët , Signature @ The Roof collaborated with renowned champagne brand Perrier-Jouёt has launch with their all new menu , inviting fellow gourmands to an intimate champagne dinner in the sky . By making the night more happening , Signature and Perrier-Jouët hosted an intimate champagne pairing dinner for us to preview how the floral and fruity flavours of the cuvees brings out the best for the restaurant’s latest menu . For the evening , the usually trendy and premium gastro-lounge , was transformed into a botanical wonderland reflecting the natural inspirations of the champagne maker .

The introductory champagne - The Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut has a pale and sparkling yellow robe, which is suggestive of vivacity and carries notes of cherry plum, lemon and bergamot orange which emerge first on the palette, then make way for the flowerful flavours of fruit trees, such as lime and honeysuckle. These are followed by notes of butter, madeleine cakes and vanilla sugar. Lingering notes of grapefruit, white peaches, green pears, apple trees and green hazelnuts round off the taste.

Whereas the dessert champagne - The Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé, features a wonderfully juicy blend of blackcurrant buds, pear, apricots and cherry plum that emerge first, only to give way to the fragrances of blackcurrant and blood oranges, followed by notes of crème de cassis, raspberry, honeysuckle and roses, culminating in lime, blackberries, and Morello cherries.

Petaling Jaya , 7th June 2017 - With a great pleasure i'm been invited to witness the collaboration between Perrier-Jouët and Signature @ The Roof for the new menu champagne pairing features three course menu starters like oyster shooters , garlic prawns , otak-otak dumplings , mushroom salad and Signature’s favourite mushroom soup . The main course includes flying tandoori chicken pasta , lamb rack , chicken rice ball and barramundi . Finally , for the sweet dessert selection , included chocolate brownies , red velvet , and lychee cheese tart . The incredible freshness of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut will pair perfectly with fish and seafood dishes while its marvelous florality will enhance the perfumes of the main courses. The sweet delicacies served for dessert will find an alter-ego in the intense fruitiness of Blason Rosé .

The new degustation menu paired with either Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut or Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé is available at Signature The Roof at RM118++ and RM350++ . For reservations , please call 03-7726 1588 (Mon – Fri 10am – 6pm or Sat & Sun 4pm – 10pm) .

Each dish served has been carefully selected to bring out the flavoursome palette and aromatic notes of the Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut and the Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé . “Perrier-Jouët is all about creating vintages and cuvees which have distinctive characters of their own. For example, the Grand Brut is delicate, elegant and balanced , with great florality , while the Blason Rosé is an intense and balanced champagne that features a more fruity fragrance.” said Lionel Lau, Perrier-Jouët Sommelier at the event .

About Perrier-Jouët
The house was founded in 1811 by Pierre Nicolas Perrier and Rose Adelaïde Jouët , specialising in crafting elegant, floral wines of rare finesse with a Chardonnay hallmark. Since its founding , it has focused on the celebration of art nouveau, taking inspiration drawn from nature with the desire to infuse beauty into daily life . Perrier-Jouët is the first Champagne House to have created a dry champagne, which led to the birth of the famous Brut in 1856. It has only had 7 cellar masters in the 200 years since its founding , ensuring the highest quality and ability of each cellar master .

This place is associated with the famous restaurant, The Hill in Bukit Damansara.

Since I haven't been to The Hill before, I couldn't compare their food but having hear so much about them I have decided to give a try at this place in Bandar Utama.

For those of you who have never been, it is located in First Avenue, the building next to One Utama Shopping Mall. But fret not, it is easily accessible via the shopping complex. Just head to Popular Bookstore and you will find the way to the adjoining bridge.

As we arrived, it was pretty deserted as it was only 6PM or so. We had the black squid ink pasta as well as the soft shell crab salad paired with alcoholic drinks.

Truth to be told, we weren't impressed. The pasta tasted a little weird and it was undercooked. There was only four small scallops in it, not worth the price I would say. We had much better pasta else where.

The salad was acceptable though. The soft shell crab was quite crispy but nothing too great to shout about. In our opinion, this place is quite overrated. Not too sure about the Damansara branch, as for this I guess we wouldn't return anytime soon.

Ambiance and service was fine. But the food was a bit disappointing. For such premium price I expected something satisfying for my taste buds. But personally, I can cook better than what was served. It is a good place for a formal get together. We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was perfect for it. Service was good although we were promised a windowside table but they didn't give us one.

They rebranded as Signature @ The Roof (and in fine print) by The Hill.
The restaurant overlooks the township of Bandar Utama, although not as fancy as Marini's @ 57, the awesome food made up for the lack of scenary.

They also recently participated in Malaysia International Gourmet Festival and won several awards. The dish that won at MIGF and won my heart is the Teriyaki Beef. Why I love it? first reason is because it is an interactive dish. You know how we are complaining that people don't interact over a meal anymore? How children take out their mobile phones and start staring at the screen rather than the person in front of them.

With this dish, you will definitely put your phones away. This is because the beef comes to you marinated but raw. You will be provided with a small clay burner that has red hot charcoal in it. You will have to sear the beef on is small clay burner and cook the beef to your desired taste. And your meal at Signature will not be complete without trying their signature cocktails. A good place to bring the date (if you get my drift)

Arriving at The Roof rather early, we were warmly welcomed by the staffs, ensuring our needs were well taken care of throughout the whole night. It was to be a food and cocktail photo taking session, where we were introduced to a total of five Signature's yummy dishes, and six cocktails. To kick off the meal, Tortilla chips with the customary beef sauce and cheese were served. I will never say no to chips, hence it was a great start to the night.

Now I'm a big fan of soft shell crabs, no matter how it is being presented, whether it's on a handroll, or in this case in a big bowl of salad. The Soft Shell Crab Salad by Signature came in a rather big bowl, with generous amounts of soft shell crabs thrown into the mix. Served with red radish, Kyuri, cherry tomatoes, and salad in signature wafu dressing, it served as the perfect starter dish.

Up next was the Signature Grilled Salmon Pasta, served with a huge piece of grilled salmon on a bed of spaghetti with mild spicy creamed tomato sauce, topped with these leafy arugula. Served hot, straight from the kitchen, I have no complaints here on the taste. The pasta went well with my palette, and so did the grilled salmon, albeit I only had a few bites of the salmon.

Signature's Grilled Caramel Oxtail was an interpretation of the "sup ekor", where the oxtails were flame grilled with herbed infused caramel. The Oxtail was served with the accompanying soup, made from beef and vegetable broth. Not a very big fan of oxtails, I do not know how to fully appreciate the meat. The camarel sauce was good though, providing a sweet flavour to the grilled meat.

Served on a chopping board of sorts, the Brontosaurus Beef Ribs dish was gigantic. Being a beef rib lover, it does look very inviting, especially with the shine and sheer size of the beef ribs. Served with spicy wedges and mixed salad, I did however find the meat a tad too hard for my liking. Other than that, the sauce did more than make up for it.

I pinched some of the Big Breakfast that is nearby to had a taste:

Loved the poached eggs, lightly seasoned which let's the egg flavor shine through. Dipping the beef tartar with the egg yolk provided an nice unique taste to it!
