It was my friend's birthday so I decided to celebrate here as I read a lot of blogs about the reasonable price and the ambience which was touted to be wonderful by bloggers. Finally I reached here but the place looks different from the other branch that I went last 2 years. Anyway, my friend ordered the Honey Smoke Chicken (RM 22.90) where the portion was very large, unlike other places where the plates are big with little food. The chicken was too hard and not tender like most grilled chicken.
Anyway, my friend ordered the Honey Smoke Chicken (RM 22.90) where the portion was very large, unlike other places where the plates are big with little food. The chicken was too hard and not tender like most grilled chicken. The sauce was like KFC mashed potato sauce, not to my liking. There are a lot of french fries, mashed potatoes and coleslaw.
As for me, I ordered the Potato Chicken Chop which came with a whole lot of mashed potatoes, and I do not like mashed potatoes personally and just ordered it because it had the most stars in the menu. There are again, a lot of french fries, mashed potatoes and sengkuang (radish) salad which was weird and not tasty at all and I understood why the bloggers do not like the radish salad and said the food here is not as tasty as popularly mentioned.
The Sun Tea, another drink touted to be famous here was at least a bit unique, and taste like non-alcoholic wine. It was actually rose drink with a few big rose buds inside.
Overall, I would say the ambience is good for a get-together but the drinks and food are not that cheap and tasty. I would not consider RM 22 for a main meal cheap though.
The only thing I like is the red telephone booth as the decor which houses the cash register machine. The place is old with tattered walls and the fake brick wallpaper tearing away. This place definitely needs a minor renovation.
The whole bill came up to a whopping RM 66.75 though I have budgeted only RM 50 for this.
