Fried Beancurd OK Aug 06, 2012   (Related Review)

The Fried Beancurd is a sidedish which we ordered to complement the fish noodles. It was really crunchy and I can see that they have folded it twice before frying it, the internal layers is still springy. It was fried to just the right texture without being too dried but I do find it a bit too oily. But the beancurd was flavoured with spices to make it really appetizing. Worth trying.

We usually try their fish head noodle which is undisputably good, this time I tried their Fresh Garoupa Fish Noodle Soup. At RM17 per bowl, it does not come cheap.

The soup with milk added was the usual blend of authentic boiled fish bones and wine flavours which was tasty. Added with the fresh garoupa meat, this added extra flavours which really enhanced the soup. But the garoupa was not really that fresh and tasted quite bland, maybe I am used to having fish head noodle with kerapu fish which I find is the best combination. Overall, this was just average.

One of my favourite item to order at Japanese restaurants is the soft shell crab. So I was looking forward to this dish when I saw it. The sushi was filled with soft shell crab, avocado and cucumber, then rolled in fish floss. The crab legs is left sticking out from the sushi like some garnish - it was quite crispy and as usual taste good. The avocado gave it a buttery feel and the fish floss gave it lots of flavour. But the dish was spoiled by the spicy mayo sauce which was drizzled over the sushi - I find the combination of mayo and spicyness weird because the sushi already tasted good and adding the hot sauce just kills all the good stuff. Good creativity but lose points on the taste.

Lecka Surprise OK Jul 31, 2012

Lecka Surprise

Lecka Surprise

Lecka Lecka is a home grown brand of gelato ice cream. Their gelato is made fresh daily and has a low calorie count. They also have a range of soy based gelato.

I tried their Lecka Surprise flavor. It was indeed a nice surprise. The ice cream was really light and dense. There were raisins in it and tasted of chocolate. It was good without being creamy. So it felt guilt-free having this ice cream. But I find their ice cream melted at a fast rate.

I do wish to mention that the service at this outlet is less than perfect. I find the staff there could do with training on customer service. They appear disinterested and less helpful.

Peach Vanilla Mille Crepe OK Jul 31, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Steaks / Chops

Mille crepe is a French cake made of many crepe layers. The word mille means "a thousand", implying the many layers of crepe - a thin pancake.

The signature at this cafe is its mille crepe cake and they make many flavors of it. I tried their Peach Vanilla flavor and finds it pretty good. The layers of crepe is topped with cream which is very soft to eat. It was creamy too. There were peach pieces in the layers too. But I am not a huge fan of peaches so I find the fruit made the cake a bit soggy.
