The thing with chowders is they are supposed to be creamy. But the seafood chowder at Memphis really amazed me. It was not only creamy but also tasted like a dessert with a thick consistency and cheesy taste. There were generous amount of diced seafood in the chowder like squid, clams and crabstick and the chowder has a savoury mildly salty taste. It was really too heavy for me and is actually good enough for a light meal.

Since I love sushi as well as soft shell crab, it's only natural that I would order the Soft Shell Crab Sushi. It really looks amazing when they served it with the soft shell crab and red lettuce leaves jutting out from the sushi and ended up looking like a flower arrangement. The taste was also quite memorable. The crab was crispy and luckily not soft and soggy like some which would be a disaster. And it also tasted really savoury with the crab meat tasting as fresh as you can get and the sweetness of the flesh is a plus. The sushi rice was very nicely packed and there is a light coating of fish roe on the sushi. Mayonnaise is drizzled on the plate for extra flavour. Excellent dish.

The ice-cream at Quan's really does deserve mention. I am not sure what brand of ice cream it is but one thing's for sure. It is really creamy and taste really smooth.

Among the many flavours, I love green tea the most. It is very easy to call it a flavour but not have much of the taste in it. Here, the ice cream is really full of the taste of each flavour. The ice cream is sweet but not so much that it kills the taste. And it is not too chunky or frozen. And they serve it in a little shot glass. Really shows how much they paid attention to the little details. Like the decor on their walls which are all about movies.

Another flavour that I like is the classic vanilla. It was again just the right consistency and just sweet enough without being unpleasant. Ice cream is served as part of their set lunch.

This restaurant has a very decent set lunch that comes with rice or noodles, a drink, soup and ice-cream all for only RM9.90 before taxes. For drinks you have options of jasmine tea, sour plum, ice lemon tea or green tea either hot or cold.

I've always loved the hot jasmine tea here served in a tea cup and with a metal pot filled with tea enough for 2 cups. The taste of jasmine tea is fragrant and sweet with mildly strong tea scent but flowery tones. It really soothes and makes me savour each cup.

My friend had the sour plum juice which isn't sour at all. There were too much sugar added and it tasted more like a sweet plum juice with just a hint of sour plum taste. Still, it does tasted quite refreshing if you don't mind the overpowering sugary taste. Presentation wise, the drink came in a glass jar which is quite appealing.

There are really quite a lot of variations of dishes served with rice at this restaurant and I decided to try their Marmite Chicken with Rice. This was quite a good one with the chicken stir fried in marmite sauce. The chicken has a strong salty taste from the marmite sauce that was sharp and the meat is still quite tender which made it really tasty. The rice is topped with a fried egg sunny side up with a runny yolk which oozes out to add even more flavour to the dish. Cost is RM9.90 for set lunch which comes with soup, main dish with rice, drink and ice-cream. Value for money.
