Fried chicken @ Popeyes OK Sep 23, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

Everytime I come to Mid Valley I always have a problem to select a meal, as there are many varieties. I try to explore every time and this time it is no different.

I have tried Popeyes at the E@Curve branch and I like that one. So I would expect the outlet here to be decent as well.

I ordered 2 piece chicken, with biscuits and coleslaw as sides. The chicken here seemed a little bigger than the one in Mutiara Damansara, but it just be me, as I was not very hungry at that time.

The chicken was a little more oily, but it is still the same ol' taste compared to their other branch. I liked the coleslaw very much, as it has some extra ingredients such as raisins, which goes very well with the other vegetables. The biscuit was OK, nothing special.

For RM15, it was a little expensive compared to KFC but it is more delicious in my opinion, and hopefully they are here to stay.

Came by for dinner the other day at Suki-ya, as I was feeling very hungry. Buffet is usually the most value for money type of meals especially when I am hungry.

We were allowed to choose 2 between the 4 different soup bases which are Shabu Shabu, Miso, Sukiyaki and Kimchi. I ordered the Shabu shabu and my other half ordered the Sukiyaki.

We then proceeded to order some thinly sliced lamb, beef and chicken slices. After adding some vegetable as recommended, we then dipped the sliced meat into the boiling water for a short while. The meat would be ready to be eaten! The whole night I was busy gorging on the meat as I find it really delicious.

There were other food items which you can take yourself, ranging from vegetables to shellfishes.

For a price of RM92.35, it is a little expensive, but since it is in a nice shopping mall with nice interior decoration, I guess that is justifiable.

Spare Ribs @ Ribs King OK Sep 23, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Seafood

Came by this restaurant due to a friend's recommendation recently.

I ordered the Nam Yu Spare Ribs Rice, which did not take too long to arrive. It was served on a nice presentation, in which apart from the deep fried spare ribs, it also comes with a sunny side up egg, cobs of corn and some other vegetables like cucumber, tomato and lettuce.

The space ribs were freshly made, as it was smoking hot when it arrived. It compliments the chilli sauce. However, the meal felt a little too dry for my liking as there were no gravy. The ribs were delicious actually, as it was juicy and flavourful although a little oily as it was deep fried. The rice was made perfectly, luckily it wasn't too dry as well. The egg yolk was runny, which is how I like it especially when mixing it with the rice.

As a conclusion, the dish was quite nice although can't be helped that it was a little dry due to the nature of the dish.

Taang Shifu @ Paradigm Mall OK Sep 23, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

Went to Paradigm mall recently for dinner, as it was a convenient shopping complex close to where I stay.

Taang Shifu is among one of the few restaurant chain which I have never tried before. So I promptly ordered a Seafood Hot Pot. The picture at the menu and the next table looks promising, thus my decision.

Seafood Hot Pot

The Seafood Hot Pot took quite some time to arrive, but when it did, it looked grand.

The Hot Pot consists of a huge variety of seafood and other ingredients such as brocolli, fish maw, abalone, mushroom, yam, top shell slices, scallop, stew pork, cabbage and goose web.

Of course, there is rice to be served along with this dish. The gravy was aromatic, however I find it a little bland for my liking. It has a nice flavour to it, but it seemed like it is short of salt. Perhaps this is the healthy food that they are promoting.

All in all, RM180 for 2 persons including drinks and rice is quite expensive for a meal, although the ingredients used are expensive.

Sweet Birthday OK Sep 23, 2012

Fruity sweets

Fruity sweets

I received a jar of sticky sweets for my birthday. It was filled with different types of emoticons, which I find rather cute. Each emoticon represents a flavour. There were strawberry, grape, lemon and grapefruit I think. The texture of the sweets is hard but it melts as it decay in the mouth. The sweetness was fruity but kinda overpowering. And the tongue feels scalded if take too many of them. It makes a good present and decoration item, but for me, it will probably sit in the fridge for a long time.
