Hong Lim Porridge OK Aug 14, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Porridge | Group/Family dining

White Porridge

The dishes I chose: salted vegetable, Japanese touhu, fried luncheon meat, Chicken mermite

Restaurant Hong Lim Porridge located at SS2, Petaling Jaya, is famous with their porridge.
The porridge is quite watery, which I not really like it. Overall the rice is cook well, keep some frangrance of rice.
There are various dish you can choose to eat with porridge. For all the dish I chose, the taste is quite average, Salted vegetable is not that fresh( seem like cook and left for a period already), quite satisfy taste of chicken mermite; It's sweet and the chicken is tender.

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Seafood | Burgers / Sandwiches

It's my 1st time enter TGI, but not in friday...You may wonder what TGI stand for....Thanks God It's Friday!!!!!!!! haha

I with a gang of 10 people having our dinner here. The menu mostly are western dish, I highly recommended western dishes as other such as fried rice is not delicious as you thought.

Ready for meal, with a fork and knife

We ordered set menu with drink and finger food before the main dish. left side is small drumstick with sweet sauce, not that bad....I like the right hand side, it a cheese pasta ball, with creamy cheese and little pasta wrapped in ball and fried. it's great!!!

Chicken chop..sauce with concentrated spice and pepper, you may need to eat with some drink....the salad is replaced fruits.

Fried rice with chicken....I forgot the dish name but the rice not nice for me...It taste like western style. Maybe I'm too familiar with asian style rice...i cannot accept the taste....

It's another fried rice ordered by my friend

And among us we have some birthday girl and here is the restaurant surprise to us...
It a dessert than a cake....

Overall ,it's a nice place for friends to chat, relieve stress after work, the price each set is about RM18-30, which consider a classy place with a reasonable price.

Platter is always the signature dish for Manhattan Fish Market. I and my friend (total of 6 people) decided to share 2 different platter set.

Actually this 2 platter have slightly different, one with more fish chip, one with some fried oyster ball. Both platter set together with soup and bottomless soft drink. It's around RM50++ per set.

It's serve warm, therefore the fish is delicious, oyster ball is fresh and juicy
The fried rice with some mix bean is fragrance and nice.
I personally like their mayonnaise, even request more as we eat very much with french fries and fish..... It taste a bit sour...

Tomoto soup, with some small piece meat and sliced tomato. It's come together with platter. highly recommend to finish it fast, as it feel disgust when served it not warm.

One of my friend ordered latte....with nice layer.....taste not bad...

Portion are well enough for 3 girls per platter. Here I suggest couple may take one platter set......

Besides christmas set, in normal day, platter serves too but in another price and packages.

Retro kitchen, with them retro, their decoration of surrounding are all in typical chinese retro..You can see many things that your mum and dad generation used..such as old style iron, vase, toy and etc.....

restaurant surrounding

As new year was around corner, you can see laterns in restaurant, and the table cloth change from blue checker to red checker....

Menu

There are variety choice of menu, including western, chinese cuisine, dessert...etc.We preferred western dish..so, we selected all western dish...

This chicken chop is one of their recommend dish in restaurant. The sauce is not bad, it can be comparative with those branded western restaurant. The meat is just normal, okay, with french fries( not so special) and salad( too little).
Chicken chop- RM11

This pasta is not that bad, even better than Italianiese pasta. For cheese lover, you may dissapointed as this dish not add so much cheese and it mainly emphasize it's tomato sauce. Oyster is fresh .
Pasta with oyster, RM13

Promotion of Ice blended, It's cheap and nice...it's uniqueness is this drink is not sweet as we thought and well blended with no big pieces of ice in drink ....

Vanilla Ice Blended- RM3.50

Overall the food are okay, price are reasonable.Restaurant provided smoking area for smoker...
The most important thing to take note is the restaurant is at 2nd floor...but not that hard to find the restaurant....

Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

There are many nice chinese food in ss17 and this kopitiam is one of the famous kopitiam in that area.
I and my friend having our breakfast in kopitiam...this is curry mee.The curry is not that spicy, but it tasty enough...You can ask for the mix of mee and meehoon...RM4.50

this is dry wantan mee. The meat is cut in circle,It's nice look from the picture. This dish together with 3 wantans in soup in another small bowl. The mee is nice and overall it's not too salty..but personally I like it.RM4.50

Drinks such as coffee, kopi o, milo, barley ....etc can be found in this kopitiam and the price average around RM0.90-RM2.00.

In conclusion , It's a very typical chinese kopitiam, served familiar chinese meals in reasonable and affordable price.
