Dishes in little wok OK Aug 18, 2015
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

I'm in the mood of eating rice for dinner today. However, I'm at Taman Midah night market now. I know I unable to get any rice available here therefore my focus has changed to the food street along Jalan Midah which occupied by stretch of food stalls.
I'm very relunctant to walk any further hence I just stop at the nearest stall to the night market. Wong Hoi San is the first stall along the street. Quickly seated and start flipping the menu. Basically, the concept of the stall is the presentation of foods are to be placed in the little wok. The signature dishes are Pork Organ Soup and Hot Pepper Soup. It seem Curry wild boar also one of the hot selling item.
However, I would prefer something light, Steam Vegetable, Braise potato chicken and Braise pork with preserved vege are the order today.
I was first served with the Steam vegetable (RM5.00), it was Iceberg lettuce. Simple vege tossed with soy sauce and lighted salted.

Braise potato chicken (RM10.00), you will hardly find this dish available in most of the food stalls but is a popular dish at mixed rice stall. I like the taste of the gravy, thick and flavourful. Potatos are soft too, the gravy goes well with white rice.

Braised pork with preserved vege (RM12.00), it was oily, you can see an excessive oil layer covered on top. I think the oil could be from the pork itself. As for the taste, it was good. I believe the preserve has been braised for sometime in order to have such flavourful taste.

I managed to finish all the foods ordered. To conclude, although choices are limited but the taste as good as homecook food. I will be back to try the Curry Wild Boar and Pepper Soup next time.
Supplementary Information:
You will face parking issue especially on Saturday because of the night market.

Not so special Steamboat OK Aug 02, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hotpot

I wanted to eat Shabu badly today however the jam really turn me down. Is really upset me. Since I already half way through, just make a turning to Taman Cheras. Okay, something close to Shabu is Steamboat. Deal! Better than nothing!
As far as I concern, only Restaurant Choong Huat and the restaurant (forgot the name) next door do serve steamboat in Taman Cheras. To me whichever will do. Upon reaching, I manage to get an empty table for myself at Restorant Choong Huat cause the whole stretch of shop lots are packed with customers.
A quick order done upon seating cause Im hungry though. While waiting for the foods to be served, flipping through the menu to see any foods interest me. I have not been here for ages, nothing much has changed in terms of the variety.

Notice that they have more selection for the snacks such as Ikan Bakar, Satay, Chicken wings etc.

They have produced their own brand of wet tissue which is chargable at RM0.50 per piece.

I have ordered 2 variant of soup base- Tom Yam and Herbal soup. Also the standard menu per head count (RM17.90 per pax) and add on Meat Ball (5 pieces at RM4.00). For beverage, is homemade Sugar cane (RM1.50 per cup).
Since I only order food for 2 pax, they have put everything together into a big plate which consist of the very standard ingredients such as Fu Jook, Tou Foo, Meatball, Crab stick etc.

For the soup base- Tom Yam, the speciness is just nice. Nothing special. As for the Herbal Soup, which is very light and after boiling few ingredient inside the herbal smell is gone just like clear soup. Lolx.....

Verdict, eventhough my visit was lapse of so many years. Nothing has been changed thus far in terms of menu and selection, same goes to taste. As for the price wise, I believe it is quite standard, with 6% GST as well.

Chinese Restaurant OK Jul 29, 2015

My Restaurant 家乡饭店 is not new to me. This is the second branch in Cheras and the first branch is located at Taman Muda. I came to know this from my friend. Since Taman Midah is comparetively nearer than HQ, so just try it on Sunday dinner with my family members.
This unit was formerly occupied by Restaurant Jun Kee, since it is a take-over restaurant therefore everything remain unchanged in terms of renovation, table setting etc. The restaurant has a section for roasted products such as roasted duck, Char Siew and Siew Yuk at Ground Floor. For your information, this restaurant has occupied 2 floors of the shop lot. It was a Sunday dinner and the Ground Floor was fulled and we are escorted to second floor for dinner.
Upon seating, we were served with 2 types of appetizer- Peanut and Acar. The acar was good and the sweetness is just nice for me. After placing the order, we were waited for 20mins in order all the foods to be served.

First and foremost, I would like to comment about the Salted French Bean (RM15.00). To my surprise, the French Bean was deeped fried with batter then coated with salted egg. It was so dissappointed. Usually, this french bean will be stirred fried coat with salted egg york in most of the restaurant. This is the general cooking method. As such, the french bean was over cooked and it is very soft yet lost the crunchyness. Grrrrr......

Next, is the Minced meat Tou Fu (RM15.00) Ordinary cooking thus ordinary taste.

For poultry, I have ordered the combo dish- Rojak Chicken (RM40.00) which consist of Fruit Rojak and Stuffed fish paste under the chicken skin also Fish paste with almond flakes coating. This dish is very special which I can savour the fruit rojak and the fish paste too. Crispy outside and soft inside.

Next, is the Fu Yong Egg (RM12.00). In fact, I dont intend to order this dish. But somehow I do not know what to order so just simply order the egg.

Lastly, is the soup- Papaya White Fungus Soup (RM12.00). This is a individual serving soup. Just order whoever like this. The ingredients can be found in the soup are papaya, white fungus, chicken meat, red date and wolfberry. This is good, soup is so sweet naturally from the papaya and the red dates. Really good!!

To summarise, the overall taste is just average. Selection is limited. If I would to come back again, most likely I want to try the roasted duck, Char siew and Siew Yok.

Indian Street Food OK Jul 17, 2015
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant | Bar & Pub | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches

I came to know Mumbai Delight via my colleague. Is located at Block E Plaza Mont Kiara, corner shop with indoor and outdoor seating area.

Surprisingly it is an Indian vegetarian restaurant. This is because my expectation is to savour a bowl of hot and spicy Curry Mutton when dine at Indian Restaurant. Yet my perception of Indian foods never run away from Curry Mutton, Tandori Chicken, Fish Curry, Naan, Tosai etc. I believe you will think the same as me. No wonder I unable to locate words like Poutlry, Fish nor Mutton.

Since Im here why not just try it out.
Let order something that Im familiar with- Samosa, pizza, rice, tandorri, potato etc.
First came the drink for my friend, It is Lassi. I only ordered Plain water for myself as I knew that generally Indian beverages are sweet.

Next, here serves the appetizer- Samosa. This samosa is bigger in size as compare to what you  can find out there, topped with chic pea dahl. Crispy outside and potato filling inside. You can dip with mint sauce or tamarind sauce of cause you can squeeze the lime juice before you eat to give a omph on the flavour.

I have ordered "Chicken Tandoori", it is realy looked like real chicken if you dont notice. In fact, this is cauliflower cooked in Tandoori style where coated with Tumeric powder. It is also comes with the mint sauce.

Next is Taco, everybody know that Taco is a Mexican food. Yes, you can get it here but it is cooked in Indian style with potato filling rich in spices flavour. Crispy yet flavourful!

The last appetizer served was the Baked potato, you will relate this to Italian food. Yes it is cooked in Italian style baked with Mozarella Cheese on top. It is yummy!

Is main course time, Pizza. It is personal size pizza, topping comprise of capsicum, onion with Mozerella Cheese on top.

Penne, whereby Penne tosses with Indian dahl creamy sauce with toast at the side. I like the toast, crispy and goes well with the sauce.

Sizzlet, is such as big portion. You will have the choice of rice or noodle. I opted rice. Whats a special combination, bottom is the basmati rice, top is the skewer make-up of green pepper, tofu and onion coated with special sauce. You will have french fried and sweet corn on each side as well as roasted potato. Cool!

Noodle, upon serving, the first thought in my mind was 咕捞伊面, Sweet and Sour fried egg noddle(Yee Mee). Lolx. I should recommend this cooking to Chinese restaurant. I have no idea what types of noodle is this, seems like chinese style cooking-deep fried noodle with Sweet and sour sauce on top. Therefore, noodle are crispy yet appetizing because of the tomato sauce. I have order bread to the dinner tonight. Looked like French Toast, agree? It a toast deep fried and immerse into the sryup, drizzled with melted butter and toasted almond flakes and dried rose petal sprinkled on top. It is so sweeeeeet!

This is the first visit to Indian Vegetarian restaurant. You will find the creativity of the foods were served from American to Italian to Mexican to Chinese style. Is a good try at least you will know what is Mumbai street foods are about!

Noodles Smile Jun 28, 2016

I happen to be around at Kuchai Lama area and am looking for restaurant for lunch. I wanted to eat noodle today, spotted this restaurant offering dumpling which is my favourite. I stepped in without any hesitation.
I love to eat dumpling very much, thus Dumpling noodle will be my order today. There are choices of dry or soup, I opt for dry version. According to the lady boss, all ingredients are housemade. Housemade noodle, slightly thicker than Ramen, has very good texture. Came in 4 pieces of dumpling, right amount of filling and it is juicy too. You must try the housemade chilli sauce, just like Pan Mee chilli. Spicy and pungent which goes well with the noodle. This is delicious.

My friend whom ordered the Curry Noodle, commented the noodle was okay only.
