Indian food with little fanfare OK Jun 09, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Seafood | Burgers / Sandwiches

There's this little place tucked inside the Scott Garden Mall( which is amazing to look at but seriously messy to find the way around) called De Chennai Cafe. The place is just like your average school canteen, and is hidden behind some bigger shops. I actually walked for 1 hour or more before finding the place! you can imagine how upset I was.

However, the owner cum the chef was really nice. Food is respectable too, if I may say so.

"Manggo lassi". Sweet, but it tasted more like mango juice than lassi. Nontheless for a sweet tooth like me, I'll take it still tongue

Briyani Mutton. The plate was not your usual big restaurant's "big plate small portion" business. The mutton portion was generous, and not too spicy, which was a big bonus for me as well.

If you're a sweet tooth you should try their deserts as well, which is supposedly made by real Indian chefs from India. I tried their cake that tasted like kuih but much sweeter (not sure of the name).

Not too bad, but unless they come up with promotions, probably won't go back anytime soon. The parking is a big issue at the mall after all. ;)

PiccaDilly, a nice place to be  Smile Jan 29, 2012

I've been at Picca Dilly several times now, and it has never failed to impress me. The portion is huge (or at least, reasonable), the price is always fair, and the taste is good as well. Besides that, the service is not too slow.

Today, I shall introduce to you some of the food from various catagories.

I don't have pictures, but if you like mushroom soup, theirs is pretty tasty, and comes with a piece of garlic bread.

Turkey ham pizza is around RM18 if I'm not mistaken. Full of cheese and turkey ham, the pizza is fully loaded, and is awesome tasting in the mouth lol

Normal white rice with rendang chicken I think. Chicken piece is big (not your small puny chicken), and with crackers as well. Price around RM6-8

Kung bao chicken from the chinese category. usually people complain chicken pieces are scarce when you eat out, here the portion is generous.

Hokkien mee. One of my favourite dishes of all times. Here its not too oily, and the portion comes with generous amount of prawns, fishcakes etc too. minus the pork lard, of course tongue

a huge pot of briyani king special (something like that). has both mutton and chicken meat. definitely a mouthful, and quite a lot for a girl like me. price about RM10.50.

Nasi Briyani Kambing. My favourite (I like lamb). The lamb portion in that little bowl is generous, and the taste really "kao" (tasty). If you're a lamb lover, a definite must try.

Mango jelly pudding dessert. Nice. They have a variety of desserts from your average ice kacang to cendols, lo han guo and much more.

The staff there are friendly as well, and some even know every single item on the menu! say when you tell them "no 85", they'll confirm (example) : nasi ayam" and its usually correct! Salute lol

There is also a nice bridge like structure where when lighted up at night is nice for photography. Verdict: A nice place for food, company and drinks too.

Marco's Pizza, Kelana Jaya OK Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta

Marco's Pizza is a homely restaurant situated opposite the Kelana Jaya LRT station. Its usually pretty empty during the day and weekdays, but weekends and nights see more patronage.

The ambiance is pretty nice, where you can sit comfortably with many sofa and cushions for you to hold (nice....), and staff are attentive to all your needs. Even the toilet is clean.

During a trip there, my family and I ordered 2 pizzas, which came with a 1.5l bottle of soft drink.

Smoked salmon pizza, thin crusted. For someone who loves pizza, somehow I find the taste a little strange. Definitely not comparable to pizza hut, to say the least.

2 different flavours of pizza on each side. One is the Marco's signature with turkey and chicken ham pieces etc, and the other side is the hawaii pizza, your classic pizza. Slightly better tasting, I reckon. Not bad, but still, not comparable to your average "fast food" outlets pizza hut and dominos.

Perhaps I'm not so much a fan of thin crusts, but to their credit, the pizzas were filling enough, and not stingy of toppings. The average price of a pizza there is RM28, and most are around RM26-RM30.

Later, we tried their bread pudding, which looked gorgeous. The taste was nice as well, creamy and melted in your mouth. Just be warned that the price is high too, around RM12 including tax for that small piece of bread pudding.

In conclusion, the place was not too bad, although the pricing is slightly up market. HOWEVER, my family and I had a shock when we came out into our car after eating. Driving for less than a block made us realise that someone had let out the air from our car front tyre (it was beside the highway, but was dark and secluded), and the guys proceeded to change the tyre. Almost immediately, a suspicious looking man with a pouch containing tools approached and asked if we needed help. We suspect he did it to earn a quick buck. Hence, my advice is be careful. Do park at a bright spot, preferably right outside the shop where the lighting is bright.

Strawberry Puding drink Smile Jan 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Taiwanese | Stall / Warung | Halal | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

When one thinks about Chatime, most think only about their bubble tea series, which is hugely popular.

Chatime Galleria can be seen even from the bukit bintang monorail station...

As you can see, business is booming...

The transparent shade above our heads. A nice place to sit and chat,or you can take away even. smile

As for me, I tried something different. I tried the strawberry puding drink was was strawberry smoothie plus mango jelly at the bottom. totally refreshing, and great for non- bubble lovers. Take the big cup, since its only a ringgit difference(RM7.90). Definitely recommended lol

"What do you call a big fish who makes you an offer you cannot refuse"

The answer:

Imagine my utter surprise at seeing a wittily designed and captioned tissue paper. The designer rocks I tell you lol Anyway, this was at Subang Parade, and is located next to Nando's.

The design is warm and welcoming, and the staff are friendly, although service is slow, and they do not particularly look out for customers needs.

The ambiance is pretty relaxing and calm, and 1 thing I really like is the lighting and design. Beautiful smile

The all time favourite fisherman's platter! It was around RM55 or so, and although they said it was for 2 people, my family and I (3 average eaters actively eating) had enough to eat! The is a pile of rice underneath as well smile The fried fish was delicious! the fried calamari, prawns and mushrooms were more plain.

Its faster to get tartar sauce (or whatever you want) yourself from the counter as the staff are so buy they don't see you despite you waving your hands frantically at times.

Finally, molten lava ice cream on chocolate brownie. Delicious! but had to wait some time for it. If you're into deserts, one of the recommended items I would say smile
